News and Sun
Shelby is on her way of being certified.
From Barb: We did it. Shelby was absolutely awesome. She was so calm, cool and collected. You certainly were right about her. The next step is to undergo 3 monitored visits (an evaluator accompanies us) to a nursing home and then we are officially certified. Thank you so much for bringing us together Barb
Patches is such a smart girl!!
Well we had people over and they had fun with the dogs. It's been a truly sunny day. Here are some photos.
Scavenger Time
Lilly and Zoe.... Lilly is not one of ours but she hangs out with Ty (they are friends) and Ty is coming tonight.
Bella and Simba. Simba and Bella and Bailey haven't been here for sometime and they just went ah I remember. Such an easy adjustment. Bella and Bailey depart tomorrow and Simba on Monday.
Max we haven't seen for a long time and he departs tonight - just here for the day. It has been a pleasure.
Lila had words with Inula. I think she was taken aback by her invitation to play and then they started investigating and then fully playing. See Inula you are a good big dog socializer.
Maddie's mom is celebrating her birthday so we get to play with the Maddie. Such a pistol she is! It's a riot!
Can I see the puppies?
These 2 love each other.
Bailey has been playing with everyone. Bella likes the girls best!
Here's Maddie waiting till Adele comes down the path so she can try to cut her off. She's already learned. It's hard to catch Adele!
Adele and Zoe really like Bailey.
That's it for today. I will try to get some action ones tomorrow. With visitors I clicked very little and by the time I did the dogs were starting to say - nap time!

Congratulations Shelby and Barb! Well done. I'm sure you will add a lot of smiles to the people when you visit them!
Thump, thump, thump. Be still my heart. Bailey is my dog crush! He is looking so pale these days instead of his usual chocolate-y self.
Congratulations Shelby and Barb. How old is Shelby ? Shelby will create many smiles when she begins her visitations.
Did you find the training/ testing difficult ?
Patches is such a cutie. I am sure that she will love having Clarity as her new buddy.
Congratulations Patches! Way to go!
And congratulations to Shelby too! What a sweetie!
Kathy, Shelby is 1yr 9 months. The evaluation is not so much about training but rather temperament. They expose dogs to different situations and noises related to the kind of things dogs would experience in nursing homes and see how they will react. What they want to see is calm and relaxed.
Shelby is a Spice puppy. We are proud of her and her human mom.
Patches - bravo for doing classes. It not only helps their confidence but also bonds them to the trainer. Classes and exposures are the best things we can do for us and our dogs.
Yes, Bailey has lightened but her groomer has thinned his coat out and that often happens when you do. He was never as dark as Truffie but he had a massive coat and for ease of care she decided to reduce him to a single coat. When you thin it out consistently it often doesn't thicken up again. Truffie has a massive coat but when gals are in heat he eats poorly and he actually loses his coat and then it comes back. Shoshi who also had a very thick coat no longer does as she has been thinned out consistently but has a thicker coat than Bailey. Very thinned out coat only looks good short and I think Bailey looks good but if left to grow out I suspect it would look thin and sparse these days. As I was less aggressive with Shoshi's she still has fullness long. Truffie RARELY mats but he has his adult coat fully. Thinning out a massive coat if you are keeping it short reduces your grooming. With chocolates they are actually a variety of colours and when thinning you can't just take the light out and leave the dark. I find Bailey is an attractive boy too!
Congratulations Shelby and Barb. Shelby will add many, many smiles to those she visits, I just know it. It is so important to keep those in need positive in spirit. I know when my Mum was in palliative care, I took in our gentle boy Rudy to have visits with her. Even though he was not an official therapy dog he brought joy to everyone he passed on the way in and out of my Mum's room, let alone my Mum. (They make special arrangements with palliative care in that the doggies that visit don't need to be therapy dogs, just gentle beings.) Bravo Barb, what a selfless thing for you and Shelby to do.
Clarity will be finished Family Dog this Thursday with Nathan (Nathan is letting me handle her in class) and then I will start her on Practical Living - Intermediate classes as soon as she settles into her new home.
Lovely pics of all the doggies enjoying the great sunny day!!
