Thyme for Stick

It is so irresistible. Can't help ourselves. Something intoxicating with gardening for a puppy. Amy is here till tonight and the pups are having a total blast. Bet you Amy will be tired tonight.

It was too cold today. Dogs spent short stints outside. They wanted to go and then they went oh its cold. The humans felt cold too. Still, they played their hearts out inside. Not a single dull moment other than short naps. :-)

Here is a small gallery.

Darlah how is Trouble adjusting??

Think she is good.

You two are such wonderful parents and family people. Hope everything works out for the girls and dogs. Are all shepherds prey driven? I was at a class where Katie and the shepherd got along fine until Katie did her recall, then the big dog wanted to go after her. I also have friends who had a small dog that was attacked by two shepherds. Did Trouble come back for breeding or are you hoping to arrange and adoption? I know I live far away but if she is looking for a home please put my name down.

What a beautiful pic of Thyme! The lighting is great! Thyme is in operation "munching branch" and Tenshi here is having an operation "chasing leaves".

Is that Troble in pics 8 & 9 & 25?
She looks more relaxed, you are doing her good Darlah.

We grew up with shepherds and never had a problem with small animals around them but today shepherds seem to be a whole different story. Our shepherds were well trained and worked so had little time for mischief but our Dad said always be aware of your dogs and their potential.
I guess little dogs can also create an issue, I know mine does but only with certain big dogs which we have to avoid.

Yes that is Trouble and she is more relaxed. We need to place her. It will take me years to grow her coat out enough to show her. It's frustrating but I also have to be sure this is forever. I can't do that to her so I sit not sure what to do.

Su:

This is a rescue shepherd mix - more shepherd than anything else.

December 15, 2016 | Registered CommenterDarlah

Darlah: i do hope the training is successful, you spent lots of time with your own rescues, I know I have read your blogs. Rescues can come with lots of issues and can be difficult to train.
Is the shepherd a cat chaser too?

I really really hope you can find the right home for Trouble, what a worry for you.
It's a pity her hair was cut so soon as she would make a lovely dog for showing she has a beautiful straight front and nice head. Maybe you could try ...hair restorer <smile>. Sorry, couldn't resist. It is very upsetting you will do the right thing by her just take your time and follow your gut instinct..

Do you know what the other breed is that makes up the shepherd?

December 15, 2016 | Unregistered CommenterSu

I'm surprised that Trouble is having to go through such an adjustment since usually when your pups come back for a visit it is like old home week. Really wish I was in the market for a dog but just can't have another little monkey !

Trouble is fine. It was just me not seeing her fun coming out but it is. Plus I am adjusting to her new look. It's crazy but it is an adjustment for me. She doesn't look like Trouble.Silly, eh?

Su: Not sure what the mix is. Looks like a shepherd but you can tell it's not quite a shepherd. The dog is friendly with small dogs when she goes to daycare but she tends to be a dog that hovers and gets in your face. It makes the havanese feel uncomfortable. Jessie the collie does that the first day he is here and then when corrected gets it. I have to say no, Jesse and nothing else and he knows and stops. He's a smart dog. Due to being a rescue, the shepherd is a little off on dog communication. People just fine. She was in 5 homes previously.

Su: Yes, her structure is great.

December 15, 2016 | Registered CommenterDarlah

My own Havanese is a human dog more than a doggy dog if you kno w what I mean. Pup is socialised but really hates dogs who get in her face and it is usually the bigger dogs which do that. I feel that big dogs think she is a cat.

Darlah: I know exactly what you mean about the hair cut shock........

The poor rescue gal, five homes is a lot. I hope she settles with your daughter and grandchildren and Adele and River it would be a life changer for her?
