Another Long Day and Congrats!!

Way to go, Cooper, Anne and Russell! I asked Anne if she minded if I shared.

From Anne:

Coop graduated from his Obedience class last Thursday.  Not only did he graduate, we placed 2nd out of 20 dogs.  We were judged on what we learned and the rapport between handler/ dog.  I was quite happy and proud of our Coop. Wanda was there to present our winning gift....cookies for Cooper :-))). Russell was present to watch his pooch in action.

We will continue training in 2017. Hope all is well. Coop says hi!

----

We had a full day but didn't take but a few photos. It just wasn't a day to click. It is semi raining ice outside so it's almost not safe. We have shovelled paths but everything goy slippery with the rain that settled in then stopped soon after it glossed everything over.

Here is Chester in the snow before it iced over. He loves it outside so. But he's getting snowballs as the snow is wet. He is not impressed with the snowballs.

Thyme and Chester are thick as thieves or so the term goes. Thyme thinks she has won the lottery with her siblings visiting. Unfortunately Chester will get his grooming, bath, pads, nails and all that fun tomorrow and then head home tomorrow night. She will sleep for days and miss the play that only siblings can do quite the way they do. Then Amy comes Monday so she best sleep Sunday.

Odin has been in overdrive playing his heart out.

Scruffy is not a fan of our stairs unless we have the rug pieces on it. hmmm Pepper finds Saffron fascinating and when Murphy plays with her, she is right there to say can I play too? They say sure!!

Ty dropped in and is chillin overnight. He looks quite dapper with his tie. I will try to get photos.

Tomorrow is busy too. Lots of grooming but I may take a break from grooming my own.

Thanks Darlah for posting. Even at 5 and a half years old, Cooper can always learn. We thought it would be good to " reload" the basic commands. Good for the dog and for the human!

Hi everyone, can i ask if any of you have used boots for their dogs, if so are they good and what size for a Havanese please, please help as my girl has very cold feet and was shivering earlier standing on the cold wet ground when she went to do what dogs do.

thank you for any help.

Hi Su, we use Muttluks booties, size x-small. This is what Cooper is used to. Others used different brands. Ultimately it is what works for the dog but boots do make a difference when walking. We conditioned Cooper early on so he is totally used to the booties. Easier for us as we don't have to clean his pads after walking BUT we do have to brush his paws as they can mat from the boots.

Thank you Anne, will look these up.
I have to do something as her feet are so cold.
I use a paw cream which is supposed to help protect them from salts and grit but I think booties may be a better way to go in snow and really cold wet weather.
thank you again.

Hi Su, we use some boots I ordered from Amazon in the fall, size small. Ines is very, very happy wearing them, she has even run with them. In the backyard to do what dogs do, she is wearing socks.:)

Carmen, just looking now at the Muttluks site will check out Amazon too,
didn't realise just what was out there.
thank you for your suggestion never thought of socks for the yard visits, i have some very small children size non-slip totes which I could modify to use.
thank you

Hi Su, We use Top Pawz waterproof dog boots, size small (red). They come in packs of 12 and look like little balloons. Ozzie doesn't mind them at all--he runs around like crazy in them. We get them at Pet Valu for about $18 per pack. If one falls off and is lost, it's no big deal because you have 8 more at home.

We use the balloons too. We used the Muttluks too but they fell apart after a season, fell off his feet all the time and weren't dry. The ballons are dry, light weight and let Ripley run! There is a tool called Pawz Jaws to help put them on if you have a problem getting the hang of it. I really recommend them.

December 18, 2016 | Unregistered CommenterSue & Ripley

Never had any issues with the Muttluks, been using them for years, they stay on no problem, if on properly. It truly is a matter of preference and what works for your dog. It's about trying them out and finding what works best. Bottom line, paws should be protected.

Thank you everyone. Found some nice ones that look good and are lined.
