Today

When you think you have that %$^& white stuff out there, it could be worse.

I am better. Still truly bruised.  Still hurts. Still can't groom well. Still have restricted movement but Sherry got us movie tix and I looked at our holiday schedule and today is the only day we can get out. So Nathan wanted to see Star Wars but most places are sold out. We managed to get a mostly full theatre for the movie at 430pm. It means Dennis holds down the fort. We feed the dogs at 3. Hoping I can sit for that long.

We are going for it. I hope I don't live to regret it but holiday season is CRAZY busy. We can't get out. Well Nathan can to shop. We cook lots of meals such as Turkey, chicken, roast etc and the dogs share (not from the table).  The dogs smack their lips a great deal as we do so much cooking and they know what that means.

We do not have a traditional holiday. We miss parties, gatherings etc. It's all about the dogs and grandkids. Our reward is seeing them happy. Our reward is hearing those coming and going with their dogs and hearing their fun and stories. Please share.

So forgive us - 1 night of only semi doing the blogs - no galleries. Puppy videos will still get uploaded.

If you are done your shopping - bravo! If not and you need help with your dog, we are here - just not tonight.

Tomorrow we look forward to seeing Clarity and Farley for playing and grooming. We also get to see dogs starting tomorrow that we haven't seen for a long time. So in a way its a huge present to us.

So it begins...

Darlah I am happy to hear that you are a little better, doesn't sound like much, but better is better. I hope you enjoy the movies tonight. I agree cooking is therapeutic but hope someone else will do the clean up. Dogs are truly our best friends. The first thing Sam says when he gets up in the morning is "where's Rusty". We only have one but is takes up most of our heart. Have fun and can't wait to hear how the movie is.

Enjoy the movie and your night out with Nathan. Well deserved. I know from past years how lucky our dogs are when they stay at your house over Christmas. They get so many delicious treats! Your roasts always sounds so delicious, especially when you cook your prime rib. I'm always scared to cook a roastbeef :-(

Darlah I couldn't get up off the floor easily without having fallen. You are amazing! Don't hold back on your pain killers rather take them on a regular basis for a couple of days. Otherwise the pain gets so bad that they don't help. Hope you get a good sleep tonight.

Darlah & Nathan, enjoy the holidays. I know from previous experience that the dogs
all have a great time visiting and are treated like royalty. All the dogs love you both.
The comfort that comes from knowing your pet is living a grand life at Talemaker makes it much more relaxing when you need to be away from your 4 legged fur children.

I am so glad you are feeling a bit better, Darlah. Hope you had a great time at the movies. Patches and a Radar are really looking forward to coming to visit. I can't wait to hear how Radar adjusts to sleeping away since it will be the first time since we brought him home. But, his big sister will be with him so I hope that will help.

Oh my, those feet make me not want to let Ripley out until May or so. It is why I love looking at the puppies. Feet will never be quite that clean again!

Well, I am not ready for prime time but it was a good college try. I am ok on pain pills so I must be better.

Glad your feeling better and able to get out. Looking forward to seeing you all. Clarity and Farley will be in heaven as they don't get meat at home ... just veggies!

Use a good quality whitener and scrub it up pulling it through the feet hair and leave it on for 5 to 10 minutes. What I do is put towels on the floor in a contained room and clean up my room or do laundry while it works its magic then I wash the entire dog. There is also a great product that isn't a whitener but does similar without prewashing called Dirty Dog. I would not use it all over on a Havanese coat unless they are filthy as it tends to strip the oils. If you need to you are best following with a good quality conditioner. Deboer Grooming Supplies has it.
