The Times

This is an old photo of Adele. I didn't have time to click a camera.

I spent 3.5 hours dematting a dog. Please use a comb to find knots before they get felted - please. My hands hurt as I was gentle as can be with this dog but that long on a table is not fun for human or dog. I did not need to lose 4 hours of a day with what I have on my plate. But I am thankful it wasn't left longer.

What else is new?

Let's see our freezer and fridge (2 units died or almost died. They are both going on 25 years old so I shouldn't complain. The issue is it takes 4 to 5 hours to defrost the freezer and come Friday (yes watch them come when pups are going home) we get our replacements. It was either then or the end of the month. The freezer frosts up in hours so you can't even see what food you have in it. The fridge/freezer unit barely keeps things cool.

So, we need to empty a fridge and defrost and empty a freezer by Friday morning. I am laughing. So thank you to those that got their paperwork in. I also have class tomorrow night so Dennis said I will do it - no worries.

Now, I hope I do not come home to an insane amount of work. I may. I know from defrosts previously I had to do 4 loads of towels soaking up the water. I also figure Dennis will be heaving food. I have that strange feeling. So is it worth that to get out of the work? Stay tuned. Plus I have 2 pups to wash tomorrow and 1 going home before class.

Rocco departs tonight and that leaves only Adele and Bentley. Saffron is in deep - I want the Stone mode. No one else is in heat. So, I should count my blessings, I suppose.

I stayed up till 1130 last night doing bags to go home with pups.

So, no photos. I will try tomorrow. I will also be taking photos of the class tomorrow night.

Darlah you are superwoman I can only imagine demarting for so long. Rusty was matted once badly after his surgery and I left his onezie on for too long without combing him because I was afraid to hurt him. Please remind your families that even when neutered or fixed they still have to be brushed. Poor you and poor little dog. Good luck with the defrosting. What a job.

Darlah, what crazy timing for the fridge to break down! It seems like your life is "When it rains, it pours". I'm sorry that you have to spend so much time on dematting a dawg. I'm always worried about my little one having knots, so I'm a bit obsessive about brushing. I find the hardest part to comb is the underarm... Especially we always put a jacket on in the cold weather. Tenshi doesn't really like going on her back for me to brush.

Hold her up on her back legs and brush and comb. It helps to have a grooming table. The issue is when someone says I brush him/her everyday knowing that is impossible. You do not have felted mats even with just brushing daily. You will still have knots if you do not use a comb but felted and full of knots, no. This particular dog lost half his coat. You can only do this so many times. My hands still are sore from it. I need to brush and comb my own today but without pain pills, it won't happen.

Darlah -- so sorry to hear your life is in such turmoil. You're right though, it never rains but it pours. Should be nice to have new machines. I have replaced my fridge twice and got a small freezer once there was just Ken and I. But I am just waiting for the day the washer, dryer and stove go. The last time the repair man was out for the dishwasher, he told me "I don't think we have parts for anything that old." I told him it was my new dishwasher but then realized it was already 20 years old. Thankfully it keeps chugging along with the occasional help from my husband.
I really think for those who let their puppies matt, you should just say NO! or else shave them right down. When they realize you are serious they might just pick up that comb once a day. I tried dematting my sister-in-law's dog when they were on holidays. Took me four days and still didn't get out all the matts. Told her to start taking better care of the dog or I would report her for animal cruelty. Not that she listened. I fee so sorry for her dog.
Please don't apologize for not getting pictures every day. Those of us who follow you know what a SUPERWOMAN you really are. Besides there is only one of you and we all need you to take care of yourself.
