Thyme Flies

Thyme is always flying through the air. Her brother Chester is here and he is just as playful.

Zoey arrived and played up a storm with her sister Stormy. We weight Stormy. She likes to eat - that's all I am goin to say.

After Zoey had her groom, she got her Nathan time before her human mom and dad came. Barney also dropped in and he is here for overnight. He is a play monkey so a great combo of dogs here.

Here is today's gallery.

Dennis is going to read the pressure washer manual in case I am an idiot. He is also going to try it out front. We shall see. I need to figure out how to repack it so I can take it back in case it is broke.

UPDATE: The pressure washer is working but I need a new hose. Seems the xhose doesn't work with it. It is still leaking so I need an adaptor or a washer or something. Tomorrow a Home Depot run. Joy not. I have to get this pressure washing done before I can put all the furniture out.

Pool cleaner works so well that it brings up fine dust.

I am dematting a couple of dogs so fitting in pressure washing should be interesting but we will try to be super human.

I count my one on one time with each dog as a blessing. I always manage to get that no matter how crazy it is!

Now to finish grooming then watch tv. No more dematting for today!

Always good to have some "Thyme" fun. Love the Zoey, nice to have her visit. Great gallery again! Glad the pressure washer and pool cleaner are working. Soon all of you will be swimming!

Thyme is always flying everywhere, does she ever slow down ? Nice that she had her brother to run along with her.

What kind of pool cleaner did you get? Is it plumbed to the filter or separate? I've always vacuumed manually.
I was tired of winding and unwinding 100 feet of house to get to the far corner of the front garden. I bought the zero-g hose t leave in the front. It's so compact and have used it three times know. So far, so good. REALLY like it.
You likely need a washer for your hose and pressure washer.

Have a Polaris and we have had over the years a suction from a kreepy krauler to the hayward Pool Cleaner that runs through your filter lines. Our Hayward stopped suctioning. 5 days of running it and still not cleaning up did it for me plus our neighbour was worried my backwashing was ruining his garden to be even though I have a french drain back there. So now we have a robotic. I love the robotic. I don't have to backwash. It comes to the top for me to lift it out. It gets up the smallest stuff to the big stuff. It cleans in 2 hours. What sold me was someone throwing in diatomaceous earth and having it pick it up so I tried it and it does. It cleans the sides really well and it is quiet even when doing the top of the sides. I am finally excited to be cleaning the pool. hahahahahaha

Re: hose - its not the washer. Came with a washer. Plus the issue with it was the x-hose we had. Putting it on a regular hose works though still leaks. The zero-g and the x-hose as much as I love the weight they restrict the water flow affecting the pressure washer. When we read online, everyone says you need a regular hose for pressure washing. So, I will add the x-hose to the end when I am not pressure washing. That's the plan.

I think I am happy I don't have a pool. Exhausting.
I want to share a disturbing experience I had today. I saw a beautiful young golden doodle tied to a bench on the sidewalk by himself while the dad and two little sons were in Shoppers drug mart. I came along just as they were coming out of the store. Anyone could have stolen the puppy. I can't seem to get it out of my mind how negligent someone could be with a puppy. He was crying when they came out. I asked him if he left the pup alone and he looked at me. Of course he had. I wanted to say something more but I didn't and now I am sorry I didn't.

Re the pool, I can honestly say that 95% of the time, it hasn't taken me more than 20-30 minutes a week to maintain. I have it open 6 months and swim 5 months. (Doesn't include skimming the top as I do this while I swim).
Most important re the puppy, I so agree with you. When I see anything amiss with a puppy, I always approach the owner and try very kindly to offer some insight. I try to point out what could occur and how they might approach something vs what they did wrong (e.g., I don't know if you're aware that there are people who would actually steal a puppy left outside a store). Most often than not they are thankful for the advice or at least respectful of the opinion. Every now and then I'm told to mind my own business!

Ronnie: Being an ex Rescue organization volunteer, I have seen how many dogs are stolen when left outside of stores "for just a minute". As well, dogs get stolen from people's backyards when left unattended. I know how many dogs are left in cars in the summer, windows ajar or not.

I have called Animal Control and/or the OSPCA when I have seen something like this. That is about all you can do other than speak with the person and explain how many dogs are stolen this way. Animal Control and the OSPCA do respond. I have also waited with the dog until the owner comes out of the store then I speak with them as Christine has. Who cares whether or not they don't like it, I think it is our duty as caring human beings.

Many of the dogs on Kijiji are stolen and put online for sale. There are rescue volunteers who do nothing else but phone people listing a dog on Kijiji and try to help the dog in one way or another. It's so very sad.

Ronnie, just saying what you did made the man think I am sure.

Christine if you only brush the sides 20 minutes a week how do you keep it perfectly clean? Your pool must be smaller than mine. I wouldn't do it any other way than to do it automatic. I am even on a list for a on surface skimmer. hahahaha I only swim 5 months out of the year but with this weather it may soon turn into 4.

To be honest with our pool cleaner and adding salt and now no backwashing there is no work other than the 2 minutes to put the pool cleaner in and the 2 minutes to take it out. Nathan does the skimming and with our trees that can be laborious so maybe for his birthday if he is really good I will get him a skimmer that works automatically.

People in the city leave their dogs tied out all the time. Luckily the beaches recognize this and allow dogs to come inside. In Toronto, the city has also newly imposed a 1 hour limit when it comes to leaving a tethered dog unsupervised. So yes, it is legal but I wouldn't do it.

Pool is smaller than yours - 14 x 28. My backwash is plumbed to my sanitary system so I don't have to roll out hoses, etc. Really, only takes 20-30 minutes to brush, vacuum, backwash and fill the chlorinator. I swim daily and always skim as I swim so this isn't counted in the work. I take a water sample in once a month to test and add any chemicals to keep water balanced, although I rarely need to add anything. I have a huge lilac directly beside the pool and have to cut the blooms as soon as they start to fade, otherwise they would choke my skimmer. (I filled more than 4 leaf bags with nothing but lilac blooms last year.)
Dogs left in cars is abhorrent! I would call SPCA for sure. I also talk to dog owners who think inappropriate puppy behaviour is cute and don't recognize that the behaviour will be a big problem when the dog is older and out of control.

We do not test our water and ignore the pool. It is rare we need to add chemicals after opening or shutting. Just salt. I used to wash the water line each season but not anymore. Though my pools could use a whitening, I am not sure that is possible. All of this is moot if we don't get warm weather soon. hahahaha

Won't your basket in your skimmer gather all your droppings? Think you have too much time on your hands - yes I am laughing - filling 4 bags worth. I am about to remove my garden. I just may this year. I love gardening but do not have the time.

I don't have a single picture of it in bloom, but the lilac is HUGE. If it's windy or raining when the flowers begin to fall, the pool becomes completely covered in a thick blanket of lilac (you would swear you could walk on it) and you have to turn the filter off until you can skim it all off because it brings the motor to a halt. That would happen numerous times throughout the day. If you're not home, it's a big problem. I now can tell by the colour of the flowers within three days when they're going to fall. It's simpler and faster to cut them. I'll send you a pic when they open ... any day now,

Our next door neighbor has a lilac and Nathan is really allergic when in bloom, their petals make their way over here. I love them but some plants I can't do due to Nathan. Some he doesn't realize we have that he thinks he is allergic to but isn't. Lilac is not one of them.
