4 Weeks 1 Day Old

How are they eating? They are eating amazingly well. I am starting to see their output become solid. They are adjusting to the food and the deworming. Hooray. I had lots of cleaning after last night.

Here is today's gallery.

I find that they go after the food on their own and they are sleeping about 5 hours. I have to keep checking - are you okay? Solid food fills them up longer unless it doesn't agree with their digestion. If that happens it gives you the idea to take the introduction of food slow. I am leaving a small amount of food out and if the moms are not stealing it they are eating the bowl dry. The xpen is now closed to moms without my supervision.

We shall see how weight gains go tomorrow. Todays was good.

Today we had the pups in the kitchen for the 1st time. See the Jeannie blog to see the gallery and the video. I am impressed with them. They will now have daily visits to the kitchen and we will expose them to different rooms. It's too cold to get them outside yet.

4 Weeks Old Today

Yum, food! How did they do? Here's a video. Some did better than others and some were quite enthusiastic about it. One of Adele's practically laid in the bowl and ate till their tummy got extra round. I call this a HUGE success!

Some even did rather well with the water. Water is always a - do I really need to drink experience but a few were really fine with it and even went to seek the bowl out after we got out of the pen. The goal is to try to get them upstairs without moms by weeks end. It all depends on how well they eat.

Now we wait and see how their bowels handle this. They are still eating from moms but we will have them eat food first them top up with moms. If it was the other way around they wouldn't eat as much. This will also allow Dennis to sleep at night longer periods of time.

They also had their nails done. Here is a video.  Here is the nail cutting gallery.

Here is a gallery of them taken today.

As you will see I am changing pads, blankets etc many times a day but they are going to the pad quite a bit. I am leaving a semi dirty one to get everyone to know where to go.

27 Days Old

The pups are 1 day shy of 4 weeks. Can you believe it?

Tomorrow we are going to try food. I will need help so we will give it a shot when Dennis is awake and Nathan is available. I will take video with sound. We will see how that goes.

Here is the gallery.

I weigh the pups everyday but I am almost at the end of being able to do it with the food scale. They jump, they try to climb out and the scale bounces. I may have to get my flat scale down so they can walk on it and I can hopefully get a weight. We shall see.

I dewormed the pups today. Oh boy... What happens when you deworm is for the first 48 hours or so you get loose stools. Loose stools means lots of cleaning and changing bedding and cleaning puppy bums. I also find that pups sleep more. Hopefully in a couple of days their bowels will solidify and cleaning will go back to normal. They get 3 dewormings and then they get their fecal tested at the 8 week visit. It happens at 4 weeks, 6 weeks and 8 weeks. I won't deworm the last time till after their 8 week vet visit in order to get a reading after their 6 week treatment.

The pups hate deworming. I hate the process but we do it as a preventative. Today when cleaning up their fecal matter had white throughout. The deworming is white and according to the pups it must taste horrid. Glad we are done with this for 2 weeks. I am hoping cleanup changes in a couple of days as I have done way too much laundtu. I think I need more waterproof pads.

The brown and green blanket - the dogs think they are in love. Strange how some blankets they love more.

It's moments like this that melt my heart. These 2 litters just fell into being with each other. Jeannie cleans and will feed any and all. Adele not so much. She wants to only feed her own. Interesting, isn't it?

Here is today's gallery.

It is true that a couple of Adele's are fatter and larger than Jeannies. We will see how it all unfolds.

Pups are doing well and moms are really relaxed with sharing space.

25 Days Old

We are mighty relaxed and we have adapted to those other puppies coming to play with us. We even snuggle with them. You will have to see it in the gallery.

We are feverishly trying to get things done so Nathan and I can have some anniversary time. We are so trying.

Pups are spread out all through the pen but they visit and gravitate to their own side but that too will change.

I am going to keep this short but the pups are truly liking having pals.

24 Days Old

There is nothing like a mother's love.

Here is today's gallery.

The pups are getting more animated and staying up more between feedings. They also are getting better with their walking. There is no rhyme or reason but sometimes they wake up after 3.5 hours and want to eat and just this morning they stayed asleep for 5 hours. Like a mother does I kept checking on them.

They are starting to notice the other pups but are not as highly interested as the Jeannie pups seem to be. The Adele pups have the odd curiosity. But they are 3 days younger.

23 Days Old

They like their comfie spots. They too have started to be awake longer and play a tad more. They seem to be playing catch-up with Jeannie's pups.

Here is today's gallery.

They enjoy the crates, under the bed, into nooks and crannies or out in the open. Their ears are indeed open. If a loud sound occurs they all react (both litters). They love when you climb into their pen to play with them. They are starting to truly play with each other. Remember these pups are 3 days younger but soon you will not see any differences.

22 Days Old: Voice Video Added

This crew really like under the blankets, in the crates and comfort. I often find myself counting and then I attempt to find where one is hiding. Today though all 4 climbed into the crate.

Here is today's gallery.

I do hold one or the other to get them used to being held. It is part of the conditioning. They like sitting with me on the recliner. Can't wait till they can start interacting with the Jeannie pups. They are aware of each other now.

3 Weeks Old

Can you believe it is 3 weeks since we made our mark on the world. Here is today's gallery.

We have really adapted to this wide space. You can find us all over the area now and not huddled together. Sure we like to snuggle but we like our comfort. We crawl in and out of the crate. We get excited to see humans and we have plenty here to give us attention.

By this time next week we will be trying food and water.

20 Days Old: New Digs: Voice Video Added

Yes, even though we are younger the humans thought it was time for us to get used to more space and to see those other pups. How did we do? We had no reaction. We explored. We didn't cry and we even tried out the crate - well 2 of us did. Two of us are awake now but we are ahead of schedule. We are actually eating closer to 3.5 hours vs. 3 hours. Sometimes we make it to 4 hours.

Here is today's gallery.

The new space is a hit for all puppies. This will also help them to strengthen their legs as they have motivation with the mom coming in to see them.

Of course this increases the laundry but we don't do things based on how much work it is. We base it on what is best for the puppies.

Here is the video with sound

Pups are doing well, all 8 of them with the new digs, so to speak. Adele's pups are now starting to play with each other. Jeannie's started a few days ago. So, they are on the same timeline.
