Last night we setup the xpens in my office/familyroom. When the earliest due date was Thursday for Misty, we pay attention to signs. She had a mucous plug for almost a week slowly and then quickly shedding. She was hiding in a crate. She really doesn't like a crate and although her temps should be at 98 to indicate delivery, I only took it last night and realized this was low but could be on its way back up. I was right. Dennis and I set this xpen up and I will explain what is what in this setup.
We have 2 whelping boxes with towels for delivery that are sterilized. We have a scale, whelping supplies that include hemostats. We have mats that I created for the moms for their food. We have a pad for them to relieve themselves though we take them out but not in this rain. We have blankets after they are finished that are nice and clean and soft and comfie. Sherry makes one for each mom for that after whelping shot. Thank you, Sherry! I had planned on visiting some baby consignment stores for the crib quilts but did I?
We also have cameras that we can watch no matter where we are. We have heatlamps with an alert indicator that sets up an alarm if it goes too low or too high in small increments. We have a humidifier that also sends out an alert to regulate the proper humidity level. We also have a air purifier. In this room we have a tv, recliner and a couch plus my desk and equipment. It is a large room but feels small once the xpens are up.
Everything is regulated for mom and pups. The pups are monitored 24/7.
They are doing well. They have all gained or held their weight. The smallest gained the most. They are doing really well. Usually pups lose weight the 1st 24 hours but she has milk and they are eating!
