Good News!

Sometimes when we go to the vets all we hear is negative stuff just sitting in the office listening. There are life cycles that we go through and we know them well.

When our vet looked at Terra's digital image of her growth she went oh oh do not feed her as we will be operating tomorrow.

So off to the vet we went.

But when she got there and they looked they went oh, it's not as bad as I thought. It needs to be removed but we can do that with a local and it's not the 'c' word. Okay, relief. Terra is a great dawg and that would be a tough one.

So that went without a hitch and all the way home she kept vomiting. Oh, is that fun to cleanup.

But she is okay but when she got home she took that back leg and placed it where it shouldn't go and blood started pouring. I do love dawgs. They are like kids.

She still has her stitches in, miracle that this is but now she has a t-shirt on and socks.

Spicy thinks this is rather comical. I can understand why.

But at least she is well.

Thank you for the well wishes. They worked.

I am not sure how I would have handled a problem with Terra and puppies coming. What a ride that would be.

Any tips on keeping the socks on while we sleep?

Would it work if you taped the top of the sock? Not to her skin, but just at the top of the sock so that it was tight on her (not enough to cut off the circulation). You would need to use a flexible, wider tape such as duct tape. When people have IVs in a hand and wear a glove to protect the site in the shower/bath, we tape them with waterproof tape - it keeps the glove on.

Robin: Thanks for the tip. I am going to give it a try.

A collar won't help as it's below where a collar is and prime spot for that back foot.

I need to get the whelping boxes up, the supplies ready and I need to do that tonight. I am out of steam today. Wish it was pool time and 30f out. Tomorrow is another day. Glad to have good news. I rarely panic but after losing Whitney not so long ago you realize goldens have a shorter life usually than Havs. <sigh>

Glad you are excited but I have to start taking temps and I haven't done that yet. :-)

I am so happy that Terra is ok!!!!! What about using the elastic that goes in the waistbands of pants etc...you could probably find it at Walmart in the sewing section. That way you have control over the tightness.....

Darlah, in the past we have used a small stretchy sock taped to the leg with
quite a bit of painters tape. Then another sock also held on with painters tape.
This way if she chews through one set there will be another one there.
The painters tape (lots of it) will not pull all her leg hair off when you need to remove it.
If you pull the t-shirt up at the top along her back you can hold it closer to her body by twisting an elasttic band around the excess t-shirt material keeping it in place.
Good luck.
