Visits, Runs and Down Time

Spice has a show Monday and Tuesday and boy does she need a bath. Her beard is yellow - yes yellow from trying to eat a plant. At least she isn't eating the berries out back as that stains their hair red and Ms. Wasabi LOVES to do that.

I can see nathan chopping them all down if that happens. But so far, she doesn't love them like her mom.

She always manages to give me a challenge when it comes to getting her back to being presentable for the ring.

But Daddy, I am having so much fun and I can't help myself.

Well, that's what dawgs should be like and if her coat isn't perfect, oh well. It will just take her longer to get her championship and that's okay too.

So precious!!!! Hey guys I have a question that will probably help lots of havanese moms and dads......So as we get ready for our 2 week boat trip with Penny I have a first aid kit for humans but what about a first aid kit for doggies....So far I have packed Penny's left over medication aka surolian in case of an ear infection and a little bit of tylan powder for diarrhea...

As I type this I...have thought that I should bring her nail clippers... and can they tolerate mosquito repellent??? I don't like that stuff but we sure need to need it up north....These are questions I should probably ask the vet...but if you have any ideas...we would appreciate your thoughts......

I found a little first aid kit for pets at one of the pet stores here in Winnipeg. It is always in her bag when we go out. It has scissors and some of those stretchy band-aids they use at the vet. Also has some gauze pads, a pair of tweezers and some other stuff. Oh yes, a small pamphlet on what to do in case of an emergency. I would try to find one at your local pet store.
There is a good list on Canada's guide to Dogs,
http://www.canadasguidetodogs.com/health/healtharticle1.htm
And even some at Cabela's if you have a store near
http://www.cabelas.com/catalog/search.cmd?N=0&Ntk=AllProducts&Ntt=pet+first+aid&rid=20&WT.srch=1&WT.tsrc=PPC&WT.mc_id=58000000000569344&WT.z_mc_id1=110791066

I think I am going to reread that artical from Canada's guide to dogs and fill up Katie's kit with anything missing.

Oh yes, a tip I heard about all first aid kits is to carry some femine napkins. They are supose to be better than those little gauze pads if there is lots of bleeding. (I dread even thinking about that but better to be prepared.

Hope this helps.
