Fiona & Logan

Logan comes to visit but goes home with his human mom and dad who also own Panda. Logan is from our friend Yvonne. His best gal pal after Panda is Spice but Spice is in heat so Logan has been a tad lost and has been playing with Truffie but Spice plays a certain way that she challenges Logan. Fiona never plays with Logan. I am not sure why she just doesn't but today, oh boy did Fiona and Logan have fun. Be still my heart. Check out some of the photos I clicked and when Fiona was done with Logan she went on to play with Shoshi. Fiona was in her zone.

Fiona and Logan look like they are having great fun. Did Logan have a shorter cut? I sure like the look he has now.
I guess I am one of those people who like the havanese in full coat or at least a long puppy cut. Seems to give them more character -- fun, fun, and more fun.

Marilyne:

Yes, Logan went to a groomer and got a close cut. He looks much better now. I suspect if he gets another inch or two he will look even better.

I too like the longer puppy coat or full coat than a short coat. If you look at Teaser her hair is starting to get length and suddenly you can see how pretty she is. When too short all you see is body or at least I do.

I agree...I think part of their beauty is that they have such a beautiful coat, and you really appreciate that when it is at least slightly long. But today I finally got a chance to watch the grooming video and I was thinking "can I really do this?". Darlah makes it look so easy, but something tells me that it might be a bit more difficult! I like the idea of doing the grooming myself though....just another way to bond.

You can do it, honest. :-)

It must have been such fun to watch them, you can almost see the tension
in the frozen shots. Logan strikes me as a high energy Hav the few times that I have
seen him. Logan's coat looks great.
Nice to see Fiona having fun.

I like the dance that Logan and Fiona appear to be doing. It looks like he's trying his best to impress her! I like that she is not backing away but looks as if she's playing the coy female w/ her beautiful long hair swaying back and forth and at one time draped over her face! They're both beautiful!

You really can do it. I struggled at first but then I did not have any guide. Now, between Darlah's video and the book "From Nose to Tail", I do a not bad job. Just remember to brush and comb daily and it is a breeze. Sometimes I leave it too many days or use the harness and then I have to contend with knots. Study Darlah's video for how she gets rid of the knots, your dog will thank you. Treating does help. Katie will not take treats while grooming but she sure loves to get a special one at the end.

Marilyne & Lori: You're right Marilyne, it comes w/ practice for both mom and pup. I've had 2 Bichons and if they are not groomed daily, both of you pay for it, but mostly the dog. Our 2nd Bichon was brushed daily from day one and it got so that was a treat in itself. She adored it so it became loving time for both of us as she'd turn from side to side w/o even being asked. I believe it felt like a good scratch to her. Likely true w/ Havanese as well (you'll have to tell me) but if mats set in, it can be painful for the dog because if they get big and deep they will pull on the skin. Try to get those out! I've seen those that have been shaved because it was too painful for the dog to sit thru de-matting. Not an end result anyone wants. Teeth brushing is another issue not to be remiss about. In later years you could have a dog w/ bad breath and missing teeth and most importantly could affect their health. What worked for me personally was to do a quick daily groom - 10 minutes and then a more thorough one on the weekends.
