Playing with a Big Gal
So, you want to play? It's hot out. The covers still on and I am play bowing asking you to play so will ya?
Pay attention to your dog's body to 'get' what they are saying.
Zoe heads home tomorrow after a bath and we have visitors all weekend with Jlo coming to play, friends coming over and well that road trip on Monday to deliver Envy. Busy times...
We are already figuring out parks to walk moms that are empty nesters.
Soom Woofstock will be upon us and then the annual picnic, swimming in the pool and well a ton of fun. How will we ever survive cleaning the garden. hahahaha

Oh, I hear ya! While outside w/ Laci, I see all that needs to be done. I like to do it all myself, but in a frenzy just to get it done! I luv to sit and take it all in and enjoy all summer long. Looking forward to Woofstock and the picnic. Don't know what all it entails re planning of picnic, etc., but pls post or email me as would be more than pleased to help in any way.
Yes Darlah/Debi...when is Woofstock? My friends who also have dogs say its a wonderful event.
I keep forgetting about the play bowing.....I know that Scruffy does that all the time and I know he's having fun, but I forgot that it's actually his way to ask "do you want to play?" I'll have to remember that when we see other dogs on our walks. Depending on the dog, he either does that or he hides between my legs.....today we met a big dog and he was a bit hesitant, although this dog was very docile and friendly.....Scruffs eventually started sniffing him and all was well.
He met a Westie yesterday named Maisy and he just loved her!!!!
I have to say, now that we are going for walks in the neighbourhood, i'm amazed at how many dogs there are! And by the way, Scruffs gets endless compliments on his gorgeous colouring......hardly anyone has heard of a javanese, but they unanimously agree that he's the cutest thing they have ever seen!
hehehe, I'm a proud momma bear :)
Sorry, havanese...stupid autocorrect :)
When you are here we will go through a proper meet and greet and that should help you on walks. They do read body language. All this meeting is good conditioning and the more he does it the more he will be comfortable. Are you taking classes as that also helps them to be exposed to larger dogs in a controlled positive way.
Woofstock info can be found at: http://www.woofstock.ca/whatiswoofstock.htm and it is held on June 9th or 10th. We go early in the morning and the day depending on weather etc and meet up as a gang at St, Lawrence market. It's quieter when it opens up and it is fun to see each other. Some stay as a group and some split up and go off with new found friends of like mind. Shopping is great. The dogs get to see each other and it's something you can do with your dog. The restaurants will even feed you on the patios with your dogs. First year they didn't and no one ate at them. Then they got wise. It used to be held in the Distillery but it soon outgrew that.
