Summer is Here
I do believe Benji thinks he is on a holiday that is filled with an adventure everyday and he is.
Logan hasn't visited for a bit and he will be excited to see him. Charlie is now home and Daisy goes in a couple of days. I do believe Cooper is coming for a swim on Thursday. It's an exciting week and sometime in there Fiona will have pups. Oh boy!
Some of the dawgs swam tomorrow, others didn't. I ran out of steam after brushing Truffie's hair out after his swim. Nathan helped with the brushing but I lost my desire to swim as it was simply too much brushing today.
I think tomorrow we will have a no swim day just because and them tomorrow comes and we will be swiming again. heheh I do like the dogs to have fun.
We have been doing a lot of tug toy stuff and retreival fun games and it's funny to see the angles they take to win.
Here are a few photos from today.
Did you manage to have a great long holiday weekend?
I got 2 plants repotted and I like them in the pots so much that I am going to go get 2 more pots so I have matching plant pots. But stores are closed so I will be getting them tomorrow. I also mossed up to planter pots lining the walls. I hardly got to swim today. Thats' what happens when it's dawgs and a 'to do' list to finish. hehe
PS: Now Abigail is in heat for sure. Who is next? Spice or Treasure or both - yikes. Abigail and Spice was due to be in the end of the month.

We had a great long weekend! We were out at friends acreage Sat and today for plays and long walks. Yesterday a.m it rained so we stayed home but then the sun came out and our 'acreage' friends came here for a BBQ. Tre was over the moon that they were in his house! After today's walk Tre had a bath and sun dried while I brushed out Kizmet and then him. Cali we save for last as I think she has a Shoshi coat and it takes 3 times as long to do her. But there was a lovely breeze as we sat under the patio umbrella. Now it's dinner time if I can only wake them up.
I can't wait for you to see Tre , he is growing so handsome and his coat is gorgeous . Pictures just don't do it justice . I have had several people say that he stands like he is in a show ring. He has two new tricks.. Not sure I'm crazy about either.. He tracks ants across the patio and then eats them. Yuck! Funny though ad he thinks he is the great hunter stalking his prey with stealth.. The other I have not witnessed but as we bbqd my friends told me he tried to bury his cloth toy bone. I did see the hole . That for sure is a no . All in all great fun.
Our long weekend was good but.... at 4pm yesterday, some kids set off some firecrackers. We were all sitting on the back porch when it happened and the sound really echoed and startled Cooper to the point that his tail was down and he wanted to go in the house. He was really scared even in the house and it took him a while to relax. He kept walking around, hiding under the table or chairs. We were surprised as he is not usually scared of anything. We acted like there was nothing there and reassured him that there was nothing to worry about. We distracted him by doing some fun training with a cheese stick (his favorite). He was back to normal at dinner time. Interesting to see how dogs react to certain things, Otherwise all is good and he is looking forward to a visit with you guys later this week.
Yes Anne, firecrackers seem to be a really bad one for them. Scruffy hates them too.
Darlah, that photo of Treasure is truly a treasure :-)
She is gorgeous!!!!
I agree with Lori, Treasure is very beautiful. I love her colours. We had a quiet weekend. Brie went to her puppy class and did really well. She always seems to do well there but has more difficulty at home. More distractions at home I guess. Brie also goes after ants, flies, butterflies, etc. She has not yet gone after bees. I am glad but maybe it is because She has ot seen any yet. HAHA. She love running like heck with Colby. She sure can fly. Always entertaining to watch them. Hope you both are feeling better. Take Care.
Darlah .. looks like you may be having busy times ahead with all the possible heats coming in so close together!! Oh my!!!
Our friends who own Milo used Rescue Remedy on Milo with the fireworks and he had a much better night last night. You have to use it about an hour ahead of schedule but she was glad I suggested it. Next fireworks pick up some. We don't have any that react though Treasure gets agitated in a way. Doesn't shake but seems to be perplexed and irritated she can't figure out where the sound is coming from. She acted similar when we had an empty hole out back. She's not afraid of storms. Our late Whitney (golden) was a basket case in storms and fireworks. She would shake, run into fences, pee all over. There was no consoling her and because she reacted that way I hated storms and fireworks. I am back to liking the storms. The fireworks I can take or leave.
Angie: Panda is not getting bred - too young. Teaser is going back to Paula after breeding. Abigail may be bred to Kat. We haven't decided. Treasure and Spice have not come in.
Gerda: I have a photo of one litter hunting ants. Doe some reason they think it's great fun. Risa eats bees out of the air and doe sit so fast you can't stop her. It disturbs me and I can't keep her inside. She's never been bitten. Ants I would be happier with. We have way too many this year.
So he naturally stacks - nice. Can't wait to see him. Shoshi's hair stays damp forever unless you blow dry it. It's so porous.
Lori: Thanks re: Treasure. Her hair is finally coming back. I think she is quite an attractive Havanese but so full of herself.
Jane: Sounds like she is a normal Wasabi gal. She will deal better with distractions with practice and age. Oh to be a kid again or stay a puppy.... such fun!
They say thunderstorms today. I want to get in swimming ahead of schedule just in case the weather people are right.
We spent the weekend with Mr. Logan missing his Panda and deciding to go on a hunger strike. He will be so happy to be back with the gang today! I get tired just reading about all the work you have ahead Darlah, but I know the pups bring you much joy... Cheers, Lynda
Fireworks disturbed our 1st dog so much that I soon dreaded them. To this day I wish they were organized and each town had the firemen put them on at their local park. Was the way it was in the 60's and 70's in East York and was spectacular! Tiffany was inconsolable as well and I do think we didn't know what to do and fed into her fear. Lesson learned and was different w/ our 2nd and she was great for a couple of years and then decided to fear them, so sometimes it's just the way they are. She was never as bad though. We used Rescue Remedy for Tia for other reasons and it was always helpful.
So far so good w/ Laci as she seems to fear nothing, so she has to be watched. LOL I love this puppy stage where all is exciting and new. She too follows the ants, but it bothers me more when she sniffs at the ant hills! She follows rain drops on the ground when it's beginning to rain so this time of discovery is fun and wonderful!
Laci has a new game now where she asks to go out the side door (rather than the back she's trained to use) and pokes her head out the door waiting for a bird to land under our tree . . . and then she dashes out in hopes of catching one by surprise. The chipmunks who used to be my little friends are beginning to get on my nerves b/c they know how to torment Laci. (I've witnessed this before.) They chirp and run near and then dash under the fence seeming quite confident Laci will never catch them. I will have to consider this a fun game for both. :-)
I agree....Treasure is absolutely gorgeous! Looks like she knows it too with that smile showing even while she's hanging her tongue out! Wasn't it that "full of herself" attitude that helped her achieve her Canadian Championship at only seven months old?! All the different personalities must keep it very very interesting! hahaha
