Boys Day

Here are just a few photos of Rocky, Simba and Scruffy playing.

I am very busy today. So I won't get to more photos but I will try to tomorrow.

I can't believe Coco and Doozie are going home Saturday. They have been a pure delight and the Coco kisses for me are the very best. Sadie and Roxy heads out tomorrow and will be missed. Almost empty nesting.

Ty is hanging out here while his family moves. Maybe Cooper's mom can offer some tips to Julie on making the changes easier?

Here's the boys...

Be sure to see updated photos of Tre and Stella below!

Wow, they look like they had a great boys day :)
Scruffs is out like a light, as usual. You would never know that Scruffs was so reserved that day when he and his sibs first reunited for a playdate......he sure doesn't have that problem now. The way he acts, he seems to think he's about 90 lbs and 4 feet tall.

Darlah, Roger also said Scruffs was doing well in class. Now I feel like I'm too hard on him. So I will say, on a more positive note, I was really proud of how he greeted all the dogs. I think he's really good at that....gentle, playful, fearless.

Julie: although the move was somewhat stressful for us, it was also unsettling for Cooper, the pre and post periods of the move. It took Cooper a full day and night to settle into his new house. We made sure we had his favorite toys all over the place, we set up his water and food bowls in the kitchen so he knew right away where to go. We let him find his way and explore on his own without overcrowding him. The important thing for us was also to show him the various doors to the outside so that he could learn quickly where to go to do his business. There were no issues on that front. Cooper has been in his new house for 5 full days now and he is completely at home. The only unsettling part for him still is that we have workers coming and going all day long, in and out of the house. This should stop in a week or so. Other than that, he is a happy dog!

Good luck with the move Julie and I am sure Ty will love his new home!

Lori - Has Scruffy had a trim? I love his coat and was wondering b/c it still looks so neat and tidy even though relatively long(ish). As I've mentioned b/f I sort of use him as a gauge since he's 2 months older than Laci. I think I said 2 months ago she may need a trim - didn't happen and now about 6 wks later, was thinking of a slight trim and now . . . maybe not. It's surprising what cleaning up the feet and bum area can accomplish. She's due for a day at the spa in 2 wks!

Debi, when I trimmed him, I did his body and legs but very little on his head. Problem is, I was scissor cutting and I did everything shaggy and uneven because when I cut it even it didnt look natural anymore and I got annoyed. That was my mistake. I will take him to the groomer to even him out so it doesn't become a problem. Unfortunate though because I do like how it looks, but I know that Darlah is an expert on this and she says it will be a problem and I believe her! I'm getting away with it right now, but who knows when he will start blowing his coat. I'm hoping not for a few more months but he is already 7 months so it may not be long now.

Darlah, I didn't mean to start a whole to do about the haircut and get everyone riled up :) Why does nobody get my sense of humor??? LOL. I have to use more "J" when I blog so people know I'm being facetious, because I usually am :)))

Lori: Come get my thinning shears and you can even it out yourself and get it natural looking. I will show you how to use them. You always finish with thinning shears to get that natural appearance. Some groomers like my daughter will only use thinning shears for finishing and won't use the scissors unless they are cutting a ton of hair off in length.

Let the feet grow a little bit and I will show you how to use my curved scissors. It's like cheating to get a round foot with curved scissors. I can also show you how the curved scissors are wonderful for cutting the rectum hair short but not so blatant that that is all you notice. It will help with any stickage.

Thx for the info Lori! Not sure if you saw my blog below . . . as you can see I read from top to bottom. Should stop that so I'm not asking what's already been discussed. :-) By the way, Big Sis gets your sense of humour! (Thx for that as I'm sure you're younger than my daughters - or close too!) :-)

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder as the saying goes, and what one thinks is handsome or beautiful another may not. Otherwise we'd all be the same - how boring!

Sorry to be missing you and all attendees at the picnic. However, have instructions from my physio. Perhaps we can get a mini dog party going some day in the future!

Darlah - You and I discussed the slicing into hair a while back. Rather than cut straight across (on myself) I slice in to create a straight line that is not perfectly blunt. Avoids straight lines and for bangs that "Buster Brown Look." Anyone out there remember that? LOL Thinning shears thins out even more than what I was referring to. May I suggest you do a new up-dated grooming video on your style of cutting? It sounds like many would be interested.

Thinning shears on the ends won't thin out - they give a natural look to the ends of the hair.

If a dog has very thick hair you can slice in but eventually if you do it too many times, it will show with straight or thinning shears.

For instance if I didn't brush Risa for weeks she would be matted. I could use the thinning shears or straight shears to slice through the mats and comb the section out and you wouldn't notice in her hair. She has so much of it but thinner hair it would show eventually. Thicker hair is more difficult to take care of but easier to slice. :-)

When doing feet you use the curved scissors to get a rounded look and then take the thinning shears to the ends to make it appear natural. It works.

Sorry to hear you can't come to the picnic. You will be missed. Wishing I could still pick up Laci to come but I am getting the idea that's not an option so maybe next year. Here is hoping Gerda will win the lottery and come again. hahahaha Or maybe I will and pay for Gerda to come.

We can plan a puppy get together and have talked about doing one in a place like Pawsway in the winter but its not the same as this event. Winter has its own issues. Inside play is not the same as outside and less people can come. But we are thinking about it. I should just accept those that can't - can't and there's always next year. I just like seeing the pups especially siblings getting together.

Darlah & Nathan - We do appreciate your generosity in offering to pick up Laci and take her to the picnic. I'm sure this would have added much to your time schedule, so that was thoughtful. Still, we are a close knit family and plan on spending this holiday weekend together and Laci is an important part! She would be sorely missed by family members if she weren't here. Perhaps we can arrange for a visit or play date at my house w/ some, but it would have to be small for my sanity. We can talk off line . . . Let's let this picnic go on w/ great success and discuss later. Have a blast everyone! Laci sends kisses!!! :-)

I had to look up the holidays on my calendar as I thought we may have picked the wrong date but Deb, the holiday is this Monday. You had me confused.

I understand its not possible. I was just hoping. Sorry if I sounded pushy. It was not my intent.

Till next year - and hoping by some miracle we can get everyone together then. :-) Can't blame a gal for trying.

We are starting to get back into showing so our schedules get complicated. So a gathering on a weekend may be difficult. But we shall see and try. I would like to see Laci. Would have loved her to see her siblings and to see if she remembers them but there is next year.

PS: I care about getting all the siblings from each litter together but until Sophie and Tre they were all local and then one moved to BC and I am slowly getting used to them being so far. More difficult to have sibling get togethers when they live in UPPER slabovia. :-)

LOL .. But we still have regular air service waaayyy out there so if either of us win the lotto I'm sure we can work something out .. And you never know we may just be back next year :)
Tre is off to Niagara Falls tomorrow.. Long story tell you next Sat.. But it will be great fun and another hotel stay for him . That young man is racking up the travel points and is just a dream to travel with. More later

Gerda: I can't wait to see you and Tre and hear about his travels. This kind of conditioning is GREAT!

I was washing and blow drying Coco and Doozie and Abigail was in with me. I have one of those mats that are soft and cushy to stand on that are supposed to help your legs and back? Well, my legs are fighting with Abigail to get a spot. I do believe the Abigail pups love COMFORT in a big way. Can't have anything to do with mom - nah...
