Nathan Training
We have had a busy day. We saw Jane and her husband Mark and Irma and Dick at the All About Pet Show and then Nathan told one of them we were starting in the back and we lost them. <sigh>We did look for you. Finally it was getting too late and we had to go.
Then we headed for lunch at Helen and Suzy's home - forgot the ice wine in the van. What a way to start a day. I rushed home, washed two dogs, Nathan did training, we ran with the dogs, Linda came over with Panda - Happy Birthday Lynda may Aruba be just the rest you need!
Here are a few photos I caught of Nathan training Jeannie.
Looking forward to snuggles on the couch with the dogs. Looks like Panda is still in heat. Can I say that Kat has lost his mind? He has.

Sorry we lost you Darlah. We thought you were just ahead of us then could not see you any more. We when around with Urma for awhile and then we lost them as well. It was a real zoo in there. Couldn't believe how packed it was. I don't remember it being that bad yesterday. We left at about 4pm. We enjoyed it but did not find the products we wanted. I guess it is time to get these things on line. Pictures are great as usual. Hope to see you again soon for our grooming date. Take Care. :-)
I was able to get some CC products. (Whitener for feet etc) and treats but nothing else. We did take samples to give to the dogs, Did you see the rabbits ears for sale - eeeeew
I do not remember last year being this bad either and many missing vendors. Unless you want treats or CC (Chris Christensens products) it's not worth it, imho.
Give me a breath and we will solidify a grooming date.
It was good to see you all despite losing you.
'Sweet Little" Jeannie, how is she? Does Nathan have her under control ?
She is such a lovely little girl.
I was a little dissapointed in the "All Abouts Pet show.". Some of the dog supply
people were not there. I was hoping to purchase some products.
Sorry I did not run into you and Nathan.
I even lost Dick for a bit! It was a zoo! We were right behind you and Nathan at the antlers-I bought a couple and after that we couldn't spot you anymore. We kept an eye out but.... Hung with Jane and Mark for a bit and like Jane said, lost them too! LOL
By 1:30 we'd had enough and left. Stopped at a friend's on the way home as she had a toy for the dogs for us to pick up. It's safe to say that today was all about spoiling our furkids!
Looks like Jeannie is being a very good little girl! Great pics!
Kathy:
Sorry I missed you truly! Yes, Jeannie has calmed down quite a bit but still will demand if allowed. She is leap years ahead of what she used to be. She learns very fast.
Irma: Did you buy antlers? WE looked and looked and gave up. I think we left before the rest of you but I was on a timetable as I had 2 dogs to wash waiting for me. Nathan seemed to know too many people so I felt I should have had a roap around him to reel him in.
Wow, Jeannie is looking so grown up since we last saw her. What a pretty little princess she is. I see she is having no issues with down.....good for her, and for Nathan :)
Lori: She didn't know down before that - picked it up very fast but wants to get up all the time. Dominant dogs for you - sigh.
Yes, Jeannie is starting to grow up - much work to temper that dominance but we shall see how she is today in a sea of dogs as we are going to another breeders for a couple of hours and she will be forced to deal with a lot of dogs she does not know. She also needs to car conditioning. She adores playing with Scruffy - Jeannie that is. Got Nora here - what a pistol she is - oh my gad - my way - my way - reminds me of the Jeannie. :-)
Funny that you call Jeannie a pistol.....I call Pepper my little firecracker.
Oops, I meant Nora, not Jeannie.
Darlah-yes I did buy a couple of the antlers. My curiousity got the better of me and I wanted to see the reaction they got. They are very hard so I am a little concerned about teeth however the dogs do like them. They don't go crazy biting down really hard all the time which is good. They seem content to just mouth them and get the flavour of them and then biting them a little to get more flavour to mouth at. It's hard to explain but they really are not trying to break pieces off.
No, that is what I find with them too. I use them for the pups when they are teething. They mouth them but don't try to bite pieces off. I have never had a dog including our golden do that but I hear Cooper has - I think - correct me if I am wrong - think there was one of the dogs that did. So best to supervise.
Darlah, Cooper hasn't, YET, bitten a piece of antler off however he does wear them down quite a bit. I do prefer the half antler as it is easier to get to the marrow and the ends are not so sharp. Having said this, we are careful with the antlers and always supervise him. Our vet is not keen on the antlers or the Nylabones for that matter. Well, there is not much else out there for the Coop to chew on so we are of the view that a little bit of antler or Nylabone is not the end of the world.
We did buy some Enzymatic Oral Hygiene Chews which are a hit with the Coop. As far as I know, they are only available at the vet's office They have the same feel as rawhides and become soft when chewed. One a day is supposed to reduce plaque and calculus. We're always open to trying new things. What I like about this chew is that is lasts and is safe. Voila!
hi , stella gets one of those chews every night. it is part of our ritual. also , every 10-14 days stella will get a 1/2 smoked beef bone from the butchers at the st lawrence market.,she is never left alone with any of these treats. i also bought the leba 111 that you recommend. her teeth are sparkling white now, with several brushings a week. she did have some tartar on the top back teeth, this is completely gone .woofstock is around the corner, i can point them out to anyone interested.
Valerie, I'm curious: what size chew does Stella have and does she eat the whole thing?
hi anne, i buy the medium size. she never finished the entire chew. they were always the only type of chewy that she got. i then found at another vet another type, they are called c.e.t hextra, this she will finish,1 per night. apparently these have extra tartar busters that will continue to clean longer. but these bones really do the trick. she only has them for about 10 minutes, then ,lol.
Thanks Valerie. I did read about the c.e.t.hextra. I will try them.
Anne, our vet just gave us those ones too. Scruffs and Pepper do seem to like them. They get sort of soft when they chew them and then harden up again. I also am taking a page from my brother the dentist's book and scaling away some of the buildup Scruffs has on his back molars. He seems to tolerate it better than brushing for some reason. The Leba III didn't seem to work well but likely because he wasn't getting the right chews. The vet also gave us a rinse to put on his gums. We haven't tried it yet. I'm not done scaling :)
hi lori, where did you get the scaling tool ? love to get my hands on one of those, for now though, there is no tarter on stellas teeth.
Valerie: So many places to get a scaler. We can pick them up at dog shows but do you have a dentist friend?
They sell them at Ren's too.
