Update on Jeannie
Just what I need another boy in the house but after discussions with Paula we will try Phantom with Jeannie. Poor Truffie - and poor Kat. But as we plan to repeat the breeding with Roxie and Panda with Kat - he will be a lucky guy. Truffie not so much. Spice is taking a break and growing some hair and playing auntie. Cold showers for him?
Jeannie will not be bred most likely till the weekend. It depends on when she peeks. It means if that timing works Nathan will just be coming back from the specialty on August 18th when she would be due. Let's hope she doesn't peak till Monday or Tuesday. Is that too much to hope for?
It looks like a glorious day outside. We have Odin visiting, Katie coming to play this afternoon and Shelby for a visit. We are so jazzed and will try to get Shelby and Odin in the pool. Katie is only here for a short visit so maybe next week when she comes for the day? We shall see.
It's a pool day for sure and Adele and Jeannie want to be with the crew. Can't wait till Adele is out of heat but not till the 18th. Wow 9 more days. She's just over a year so she doesn't quite grasp what this means nor should she.
More later.....

Just curious. I know you finish the ladies having puppies at a certain point. What about the gentlemen? Will Kat eventually "retire", or will you allow him to breed in his later years? Do you keep track of the number of puppies your boys sire?
Exciting times for Talemaker! Can't wait to view/observe the Jeannie/Phantom pups by the magic of the " interweb" FX timing works out. :)
That was my vote . . . maybe just b/c Phantom is my baby's Daddy. :-) Know they will make beautiful puppies. Will be checking in from time to time to see what's going on.
We know how many Kat has sired (not anywhere near the amount popular studs have as we limit who we breed to) but boys can be used as long as sperm count is of quality till later years. To be blunt you are using sperm and capability to tie or you collect them for future generations and artificially inseminate. So you could have pups from sperm when they are 17 if you collected them. One person saved sperm and used it 20+ years after collecting. I have not collected my boys. Phantom and Kat are exactly the same age. They are still considered prime for mating. Truffie makes beautiful pups so we will use him in the future. I will probably retire Kat in the next couple of years. But many breed their males to a much older age. You can if healthy and Kat is healthy. I may use him on Jeannie before he retires but we shall see. It depends on her, how her mothering skills are, what she produces and so many things. That's getting ahead of it.
It will be exciting to see how it all evolves. No doubt they will make beautiful puppies.
Really interesting. Thanks for the response. I suppose based on past history, Jeannie will no doubt have her puppies at Puppy Picnic time! You always seem to be pooped from just having a litter hours before, or are anticipating one within hours of the party.Your girls have timing! :)
Not sure we are having a picnic. It depends on Alex. He has been recovering from heart surgery and kidney stones. The specialty is also when Jeannie is supposed to be due I think and Nathan will be at that as its a huge anniversary event. It may be 1 year it doesn't work out but I want Alex to be well enough for it.
Sorry to hear that Alex has had health issues. I sure hope that he gains back his strength.
Yvonne and Alex take care of yourselves.
The wde world Havanese folks wish you the best.
