Happy First Birthday

Mabel wishes all her siblings a Happy Birthday!!!!

Hi,

I'm having a great birthday day. My human mom took me on a long walk through the bush with so many wonderful smells. I got some fresh cooked salmon added to my breakfast. Yum! I can't wait to see what I get for dinner. Darlah can you send out birthday wishes to my brothers and sisters. Also give my mom a big lick from me.

Miss Casey wishes all her brothers and sisters a happy birthday! It seems she has grown up overnight! She just came home from a trip on an airplane to Saskatoon to visit family and had a blast running and playing all day. The two trips on the plane went well - she slept soundly on the trip home as she was so tired. Happy Birthday everyone and love to my Mom, Spice! Hope to see you soon!

Laci wishes Happy 1st b-day to all the beautiful puppies!

Question for Anne - Do you take Casey on the plane in a Sherpa bag? Can you take them out of it at all? Just on your lap for instance . . . We're driving to Florida w/ Laci this winter and the drive is for her benefit. (I hate long drives.) We'll do it 1st time, but I'm seriously thinking of trying out plane 2nd time around. Also have to think of flying home of there is an emergency as I have parents in their 90's.

Debi: Most North American airlines demand that you keep them in a sherpa bag but some are lenient. The European airlines are better as they want you to take them out etc. Many people get around it by heading to the bathroom and giving them a piddle break. Are you thinking of flying down to Florida vs. driving?

We plan to drive first time around. We're fortunate that Laci adores the car and doesn't get car sick, but time will tell what she thinks about driving for 3-1/2 days to Florida. We do plan on stops and pet friendly hotels, etc. The only bonus for me vs. flying is that I can shop more and load the SUV up from my shopping sprees. LOL But I don't like long car rides and can get sick myself. I've just got flying for 2nd year in mind to see how it goes and as I said, we also are concerned about the possibility of having to rush home should my parents need me for an emergency.

We do have the airline approved Sherpa Bag which Laci doesn't like so she's been in it once for about 1 minute. I guess I'd best get Laci used to this bag long before we even think about using it.

Its 22 hours to Miami. If you are going for 3.5 days how much are you driving in a day? Think the first year Yvonne went down she stopped along the way and it took them 3 days but they do it in 2 days now with a pontoon boat attached Downsey was terribly car sick when she first started and these days not anymore. It tells you that conditioning is so important. I would get her chew toys, take breaks and she will be fine. Sounds like you are planning and getting excited. I can't blame you. It has to be better than this terrible summer and what winter we will get. Just be aware that most that go extend their time every year. :-) I keep expecting Yvonne will be there for 6 months soon. For now they go for 3 months.

Oh yes, Doug is already planning and looking for some place else to stay for 2 more months since our place is taken, unless another unit becomes dog friendly. As for me, I take one step at a time and want to see how the month of Jan goes, also the area and see if we want to try another area. I don't know too much about the trip and time as that's not my forte - but Doug's. I know Laci will rule Doug on how long we drive in a day. She's #1 for him! :-) (Don't we all secretly put the dogs first so I can't say a thing about that.) LOL

Deb: hahahahahaha

Yvonne stays a different place each year. They always skype me to show me how hot it is while I sit and look at the snow I just finished shoveling.
