Such a Day

I got to see Bentley and Miss Abs (Abigail) today. They come to visit every few weeks. As you know Miss Abs retired to live with Bentley and comes to give me kisses and get spruced up every now and then. I have to say I miss her but she seems very happy and that is what it is about. They are coming to the picnic - hooray!

As you can see Bentley and Magic look so much alike its unreal. They played and played till they departed.

As promised the Cooper went swimming and then we washed and blow dried him. Can't believe that hair.

I will tell you he loved it and wanted to do laps like Roxie likes to - well not as much but certainly more than the usual. He also wanted to keep coming back in. Anne and Russell will have to take him into the lake at home but he will be spoiled with the temps in this salt water pool. He's going to be hanging out with his mom and dad and grandparents at home and then he is off to Montreal with them. Lucky him.  Yum Montreal bagels - save me some - hahahaha

Val has come home from her whirlwind trip to Japan. I can't wait to hear about her adventures including a hot spring 3 times - lucky her! Jebi will be excited to be back doing wild and crazy things downtown. Tts are more challenging than Havanese but just as lovable.

I hear rain and more rain is coming. So what do you do when it is pouring? Sit under the gazebo, play retrieve, test them on commands and cuddle and watch tv. Oh yeah and I do a lot of grooming as I like them knot free.

Yum ribfest in Richmond Hill is on this weekend at Richmond Green. It has amazing food. Best get it while you can. Come Sunday night its gone. The chips are oh my gad delicious! The ribs are award winning - no lie!

I did not know that Miss Abs has a new home with Bentley. Good for her
she is such a gentle gal.. Kona loves her and Fiona.
It is nice that she lives close enough to come and visit often.

Kathy: It's been on the main page for quite awhile. Dragged my feet on it but can't have too many dogs and she is happy. Certainly wasn't easy but humans and Miss Abs is happy so that's okay with me.

I never go to main page so I missed out on the news as well. I ADORE Ms Abs and am happy for her. I wish her all the best in her new home.

Much love goes out to her from Laci and I. We will look forward to updates.

Just luv luv her!

Me too - just luv her!

On rainy days we go for car rides. Laci loves the car so much she gets a daily car ride anyway, but when it rains, she gets two! LOL It's amazing how busying their brains just by going out stimulates them enough to prevent boredom.

Yuck! All next week looks rather glum.

Yes - too glum imho. :-)

I haven't heard any news about Treasure lately, can you post some pictures of her when you have a chance? I see pictures of the rest of the gang sometimes but I don't recall seeing Treasure.

Debi, I am glad to hear that Laci likes car rides so much. You saying that makes me remember when I was growing up how our dogs enjoyed car rides. We just had to say "want to go for a car ride" and they got all excited, much like when we said "want to go for a walk". They especially liked going for car rides in the countryside. When my Mother was quite old, her last dog even knew all of its toys, and there were a lot of them, by name. It seemed to know everything she said to it, but she lived alone and talked to it a lot, and gave it a lot of attention.
.
Anyway, how do you secure Laci, so she is safe, when you take her in the car. Mateo still gets nervous and car sick when I take him in the car in his crate.
Thanks,
Diane

P.S. Forget to say how nice it is to see a picture of Abigail!

I guess that I missed seeing the notice about Ms Abs. I do not always remember to check the main page.

Diane: Mateo is quite the cutie. Sorry to hear he has car sickness. As an adult, I've had 3 dogs and all have loved the car. Could be the luck of the draw although I've always taken my dogs in the car from day one and regularly. I never used a Sherpa type bag until Laci and she was able to get out of it, so it was more dangerous than no bag. I got the actual Sherpa bag and she hated it. I'm not much for confinement of dogs and so abandoned the bags quite early. We have 2 dog booster seats and also a short leash that attaches to collar and seat belt of car. What I use depends on where we're going. Laci is able to see out the window and as a matter of fact leans her elbow on the door rest and looks out like a person does. :-) She's like your Mom's dog and gets very excited about "car rides." She actually goes out and gets me coffee daily! (W/ Daddy's help of course.) Each dog is different but I do believe all can begin to love the car. I think taking Mateo out daily, beginning w/ short rides that end in special outcomes, whether it be to his fave person's house, doggie friend or just yummy treats beginning and end of ride will have a favourable outcome for Mateo. My console is stocked w/ treats for Laci and she knows that! She taps her paws on it as soon as she gets in. LOL Fingers crossed for you guys! Hope you keep us posted. xoxo from Laci

Audrey: Treasure lives downtown with a truly lovely lady and is thriving. We have been down to visit and have enjoyed her pix and stories. I still miss her and will always I suppose. Funny she didn't get along with Abigail as she aged. Not sure why but now Miss Abs is gone too. WE are looking into placing Fiona too. All this is truly killing me.

Diane, please read http://www.talemakerhavanese.com/car-sickness/ They do grow out of it but you must take them out to fun spots. I haven't had any that have had car sickness for a long time and now I am seeing a couple that are. There is no rhyme or reason but for many its maturity and conditioning that will get them there. There are also meds that will help to get them over this till they mature. Hugs!

I' know Miss Abs is living with her son, I didn't know tTreasure had moved also, I must have missed the the posting. I am happy she is doing well. Hugs and kisses from Gidget and us. We'll try to arrange a play session for Gidget, Wasabi and the rest go your gang.
