Just Some Fun

Moms are watcchig the running play out back. See the short video. They run like this many times a day and it depends on their mood as to who joins in. Even Risa has been known to cut someone off at the pass.

Roxie is finally feeling as if she can have some outdoor time. She will only go out after they are fed and cleaned as she knows they will be sleeping. She still only stays out for a short time but she is allowing herself some fun. Good one, Roxie. All moms need to do this - himan and canine!

After the crazy running Inula's tongue is usually hanging out.

Rafi and Toby had a blast today. Toby has departed and Rafi will shortly. I suspect they both will be mighty tired.

Logan is amazing with the pups. He is a gentle being. I got outside today to enjoy the air and he jumped up on top of me and snuggled. He is not a massive snuggler so when he gives you them you go ahhhhh.

Let says, so you thought my hair would stay groomed - well think again.

Today I have a really bad headache so I am pilled up and trying to chill and finish the blogs. Tonight we just have our dogs. The dynamics change from day to day. :-)

Cali is pretty active for just having had surgery !

Yes, she is. Think the onesie may come off tomorrow.

The concern about surgery is the stitches. If you are giving pain medication they are groggy for days after. Cali did not have pain meds. I find they recover quickly without them and if they are sore they will use caution but medicated they won't feel it and will at times end up breaking their stitches as they feel no pain means I am invincible. That's not to mean that if you have a dog that really needs help that you shouldn't medicate. I just find for me the less is better gives better results. Risa had anesthesia but no pain meds including the usual shot at the vets and was acting like Cali was the day after surgery. She was a late spay and that is supposed to be more difficult but no issue. No issue with Wasabi either. Abigail wasn't pleased and we kept her quiet for 3 days. Still she had no meds but she did have some discomfort. Cali had one outside stitch. Our vet is so good that its not folded up as I have seen some. It's nice, flat and a great incision. The usual is it will take them 10 days to heal according to the vets. I have never had one take that long. Sometimes 2 or 3 days. Some like Cali seem to heal fast. Dogs do heal quicker than us. You have to keep the area dry. Keep them from chewing on them and breaking the stitches. Cali can have her onesie off today. She no longer needs it and probably didn't need it yesterday. This is day 4. Yesterday when she was running around like a maniac it was day 3.

Love the running/play video. I think that Havanese are very quick on their feet.
Kona who is laid back and quiet most of the time has an explosive start if he wants to chase a stick.
All the play is great for the dogs especially Inula. You would never know that Cali
just had surgery.

Kathy: I know. The vet said she is amazing. Came out of her anesthesia fast too. I am going to miss her terribly but she is going to make 2 people very happy. You can't help but love the Cali.
