Fun Play

Dogs are enjoying the sunshine and now the clouds have arrived. Could it be rain yet again? I hope not.

Here is the gallery.

Ash and Grey has arrived. They are the 2 schnauzers that come to visit. Levon and Trigger also has arrived. Amy and Tenshi are here for the day and the lively Lily has departed. Her fun will be missed.

After Nathan takes his nap, he is off to buy the food packages that are going home. They did not have enough in stock so we had to wait till they came in.  I then wash 2 puppies, take photos and then make sure everything is ready for their departure.

Our new safety cover is in now. They want their money. LOL We had to get a new one as ours was showing its age and scratched here and there. The purpose of a pool cover is to be safe not just cover so it is what it is. We had one made supposedly the same thickness as our original. We had to ship ours to the states as they do not mke the thick ones in Canada. Can you believe? Oh and we researched. They have safety covers but not the ones you can have 4 people stand on and jump up and down. This last one has lasted over 20 years so ....

We will not see it till they go to close it. It's crazy to pick it up and let it sit here. So come fall the colour and the look will be a surprise. Let's hope we have many more weeks of swimming. If the weather cooperates I won't close till the end of September but it never does.

Oh well.... crazy weekend. Blogs will be short but from Friday to Tuesday 7 pups will depart. So bear with us when it comes to updates.

Glad u got the new cover like your last one. Your dogs would have missed it. I was surprised that ours was so different. Yours was like a trampoline for the dogs. Laci loves to run on ours too, but it's just different as not too bouncy. We got ours more for safety for our blind dog, so it's been years and years we've had it now.

This is the 1st year we decided to try the old tarp cover beneath it. The covers in Canada are very porous and while they keep animals out and safe, they don't keep the dirt from blowing in - which would have been nice and quite frankly was expected. We always kept our pool so clean in past and it was hard to get used to opening up such a dirty pool.

It was a nice surprise to open the pool this year and find it very clean.

Hope you're pleased w/ yours come the fall.

Our pool cover came from a friend that manufactured them 20 plus years ago. We paid a wholesale cost as he was a friend. It was the best quality cover. They do not make it in Canada now. I find that frustrating. Our friend no longer owns the company. So, we had to pay a few hundred dollars to ship it to the states on a truck (cheapest route) and then they took ours and cut and matched the new one exactly. Then they slow trucked it back here. The cost is 4 times our original. Buying a pup would have been cheaper but if it last 20 years.... We had no choice. I could have opted for the Canadian made one that was less thick but I would be worried always and really if I had to sell my soul, having the dogs safe is worth every penny, imho.

PS: When our old cover was not ripped I opened a sparkling clean pool. I hear you. Having a green pool this year was disgusting.

Will they guarantee that the cover is an exact fit for your pool. A worry to wait and see that all is perfect in sept or October. I love watching the pups run across the cover .

I agree peace of mind is worth a lot. Maybe not your soul but a lot. Sounds like this weekend is going to be crazy busy. Take care.

The issue with the cover is the only way to check it is to close it. We can't prematurely close it unless I do not want to swim for the rest of the season. It is a huge job to close it and then open it again. Cost to close and open again then close would be a whopping grand. The cover is heavy so even if we picked it up, it would remain in the pool shack till closing. If it doesn't fit, the pool company will have to drill new holes and clips. That would be on them - not us. They promised an exact duplicate. We are paying enough that it wouldn't be on us. LOL

So, I am not worried about it. There are solutions if the straps are not in the right place. Not ones we want but solutions none the less.Hopefully we are not worried about it for at least another month.

It's amazing how quiet and un-homey the house feels with the dogs away.
