Indoor Outdoor Always Fun
Pablo is a Cinnamon pup and therefore he is mighty agile. Nathan turned the table sideways as he hosed it off before the boys could bring it inside and he found a way up anyways.
Here is the gallery. I may have put some of yesterday's in but forgive me.
Pippin, and Harlow is departing today and Barney left this morning. They all had such great play this week.
I had a mega amount of grooming to do today. Tomorrow I get to see Rusty for the day. Hooray!
Henley departs tomorrow and he will probably sleep and sleep as he has had a nonstop blast. You know how you recover from a holiday - same goes for them. The play is so good for a dog's soul!
I know this may be unpopular but you know Halloween and dog's? It can be quite confusing and scary for them. If you answer your door, put your dog away, please. They can be frightened by all the masks etc and an escape can occur. In all the years we have been breeding, 1 dog died from an escape that happened on a holiday. One dog - as you know escaped and was never found. Do not take chances and don't overload your dog by forcing them to view strange things. It can have serious consequences. It doesn't sound like much but once is too much. Set your dog up always to succeed and don't flood them with fear.

Hear, hear, Darlah. Great advice!
Good thoughts about Halloween. Our duo has been conditioned to it though, we have a gate in place...Russell gives out the candies and we sit behind the gate and watch and enjoy the kiddies....I'm always with them and they like the action. I use this opportunity to train for being quiet, sit, down and stay...for us it works well but not all dogs like the scary stuff so being prudent is the right thing to do. You have to know your dogs and what works and doesn't work. For us, it's a fun couple of hours, me on the floor with Cooper and Spicy while we watch silly Russell giving out candies.
I am glad it works for you. Most dogs do not like Halloween. We shut our lights off and watch tv. We put a bin with candy for them to take what they want. When it is gone, it is gone. Most times we have leftovers and Dennis - well he loves the leftovers. Dennis and chocolate. LOL
We started years ago to just sit on the porch and give out stuff without the constant door knocks, also it helps with the real little ones to not stumble up or down the porch steps. Now with the dogs they stay in the back room and 1 of us volunteers to do the task. Therefore no open doors, problem solved. A bit of wine helps🍷
I don't do Halloween any more because my Eskie can't handle it but when I did, I think it was Rebekka's favourite night of the year. She had to greet every child so I would put her in a harness and on a tie out just long enough to reach the children in the doorway and then she was in heaven. It was interesting to watch the interaction. Some children who were a bit greedy changed their behaviour when they saw her and children would often stay for a few minutes just to play with her. Some remembered from year to year and would come asking to see her. Good thing she doesn't know she's missing out now !! 😊
The pool shed looks great!
For 25 years I sat on the porch to make sure the bell did't ring and the door stayed closed. I was always worried about upsetting the dog. Now I just turn out the lights and watch t.v. There are only two children in the neighbourhood I live in, so I just buy them each a big bad of potato chips and take them over before dark. They seem to find that a great score!
Those who have no problems with Halloween and their dogs are very lucky. After having volunteered in rescue for a number of years, I can tell you first hand how often dogs bolt, get lost, get killed, and get traumatized because of Halloween and the noises and strange sights around. I never take the chance.
Good to see my boy! He is an explorer!
