Thanks Darlah for posting the pictures w/ comments from parents on all the fur babys' birthdays. It's a lovely way to play catch up and see how everyone is doing. :-)

I agree, Debi!!

February 5, 2019 | Registered CommenterDarlah

Debi, Laci is just gorgeous. She really has a nice haircut too. Is it clipped with a long blade or all scissored. My Mateo would be a half brother to Laci, since his Mom is Abigail. His Dad is Truffie. I have had him five years tomorrow. Darlah and Nathan nicknamed him Loverboy when he was a baby. He is the love of my life!

February 6, 2019 | Unregistered CommenterDiane Culp

He will always remain loverboy to me. Special guy who deserved that nickname!

February 6, 2019 | Registered CommenterDarlah

Darlah, I know what you mean, but I am partial.🥰

February 6, 2019 | Unregistered CommenterDiane Culp

Diane, Laci thanks you for the compliments. We think she's beautidul too! She is scissor cut by a lovely young woman that used to be in Ajax, but has opened her own salon in Scarborough and while it's farther than we wish to go, it's worth it. She has no cages and does one on one from beginning to end.

If you are interested in learning more info, let Darlah know and she will give you my contact info. Then you can check her out yourself if you wish.

Debi, thanks for responding. Laci really does look like a doll. I live in Hamilton, so it would be too far for me to go to Scarborough, but I certainly would if I lived closer. Mateo is clipped with a long blade, but his head and legs are scissored. How many inches do you ask it be scissored to. How often do you have to get it done. I usually get Mateo done every 8 weeks. His groomer said if I had it scissored it would have to be done every 4 weeks and each cut would cost quite a bit more. Thanks again, Diane

Laci is done every 5 weeks. We went to 7 this last time due to holidays and she was fine. I was pleasantly surprised when groomer told me she had no mats at all! (maybe she was lying to be kind). LOL I'm not sure how we arrived at the length, but pic you see she was done a week before. I always ask for ears to be left alone as want to try and keep the tipping and tail is done maybe once/year. I pay $60 cash+ a little appreciation. :-) Good groomers are so hard to find and after I left my old groomer of over 25 years finally found Kristy. Long story there, but I had to investigate w/ all the resources I had to find her after she left Ajax. We were all so happy to be reunited!

I think I recall Mateo on blogs in past, but would love to see Laci's half brother again if you could post.

Laci has a new great great niece, My daughter's puppy, Ellie and her Dad is Truffie. Mom Ella who is decendant of Abigail.

Scissoring takes much longer to do. :-0 Seven weeks without mats is amazing. Do you wash her every 6-7 weeks then or do you do your own baths between? My dogs get washed every 2 to 3 weeks.

February 6, 2019 | Registered CommenterDarlah

Debi, that is a great price for a scissored haircut. Mateo had his hair cut last week and it was $77. with tax plus tip extra, and I would think Hamilton would have lower prices than the Hamilton area. That is her standard price for Havanese. I try to make sure Mateo doesn’t have any mats either, but he had a little one under his left armpit. She said it would be a lot more for scissored, because it takes so much more time, which I understand.
How nice that your daughter has Ellie.
I tried adding a picture of Mateo here, but it wouldn’t let me.

February 6, 2019 | Unregistered CommenterDiane Culp

Should have said lower prices than the Toronto area.

February 6, 2019 | Unregistered CommenterDiane Culp

Laci did have mats, but not when she went to groomer. I brush Laci every 2 to 3 days now (used to be a lot more in earlier years and wonder if it was the shampoo other groomer used). When I find mats I don't quit till I get them out. Waiting the 7 wks, it took me about 4 days so not to stress either Laci or I out, to get to them all. I only hope I do and always ask groomer if there were any after her grooming. Sometimes there are some I miss under the armpit or behind the ears. Usually, I know and tell her beforehand where I've been having difficulty.

I take Laci in at 11 and she's out by 2. Kristy says she gives Laci breaks and she's kind enough to call me so I get there when she's just about finished.

I only bathe Laci's dirty spots - feet, bum, face when needed. Other than that she never appears to need a full bath and I don't give her one.

She's relatively easy to maintain now. BTW- I always took my own good quality shampoo/condintioners to the past groomer, but I now don't think she was using them - not on my dogs anyway.

Is Abigail’s daughter Roxie, and Roxie’s daughter Ella. I think I remember seeing pictures of Roxie and Ella swimming and diving into the swimming pool together. They really seem to enjoy the water!

February 6, 2019 | Unregistered CommenterDiane Culp

Diane, I believe Ella is from Adele, Adele from Roxie and Roxie from Abigail. LOL

Laci's Dad is Phantom.

February 6, 2019 | Unregistered CommenterDebi&Laci

Ella is from Roxie. :-) Mother and daughter jump off the diving board together. Adele is from Abigail. Roxie is from Abigail.

February 7, 2019 | Registered CommenterDarlah

Darlah & Diane - I wasn't sure and knew I could be confused. I should have remembered Adele was from Abigail. I would have loved her! :-)

Now, I've been trying to figure it out bf writing, but is Laci still a great great Aunt to Ellie? Doesn't matter really, but fun and interesting. :-)

February 7, 2019 | Unregistered CommenterDebi&Laci

Debi, I would think great aunt on her mother’s side and she could be closer than that on her dad’s side, since Phantom is Truffie’s father. I know it is interesting. But because Laci and Roxie are from different litters, and could have different fathers, I don’t know what the connection would be. It is complicated.

The first time I saw Adele in person was when I went for a visit to get accepted on the waiting list for a puppy. I had seen pictures of her before and just loved her. She was a puppy and Nathan was showing her at the time. I met Roxie too, and she hadn’t had her first litter yet, and they were planning on breeding her in the near future. I loved them both.

February 7, 2019 | Unregistered CommenterDiane Culp

I am too tired to even think it through. hehehehe

February 7, 2019 | Registered CommenterDarlah

Ya me too! 🤔

February 7, 2019 | Unregistered CommenterDebi&Laci

Diane, Laci and Roxie are full sisters, but from a different litter. That I know. They are both from Abigail and Phantom. They are 6 months apart in age. I just got lost in all the puppies in between Laci and my granddog Ellie.

Our daughter and grandkids wanted a puppy related to Laci just b/c she's the best! :-)

Are you looking for a 2nd or just curious?

I missed the boat, so to speak, but now feel having a granddog was what was meant to be. :-) We all love our Ellie.

February 7, 2019 | Unregistered CommenterDebi&Laci

Debi, I just find it interesting, since your dog and granddog and even Mateo are all related.
I can understand that your family wanted a dog like Laci.
When I got Mateo a family that had a dog alread Bailey, also got another one in Mateo’s litter called Bella, that was similarly related as Laci and Ellie are.
I do love that Roxie and Ella enjoy diving and swimming together, and as Darlah posted today, maybe Ella’s daughter Skye will join them this summer.
I can’t have another dog where I live.
I live in a condo townhouse and you are only allowed 2 pets, and I also have a Ragdoll cat.
I am also getting older and hope that I am around for Mateo’s lifetime.
I just finished sending an email to Darlah with pictures of Mateo attached, and hope that she will post them sometime, so you can see him.

February 7, 2019 | Unregistered CommenterDiane Culp

Diane, thank you for giving us your history. It is all so very interesting to learn of our Talemaker family dogs. Lovely when people share.

I understand your interest as I find it fascinating as well.

Having Mateo and your Rag Dojll must be so much fun! I have a friend w/ a Rag Doll and another considering getting one.

I also remember Bailey and Bella, but haven't seen them for a while. I do like to tune in and see what's going on and when there's puppies, well then I'm hooked for a while! :-)
