Painting Day
It's a crazy day. The original cabinets that I wanted, our handyman said didn't fit and I had to get ones that lifted from the bottom. He knew the sizing etc. He said the others were way too big. Well, he tore them open and didn't retain the packaging and they are too small. So I had to go pick up the original he said wouldn't work and now all my tip money is gone. They won't take the ones that don't fit as its lacking packaging. So, this is getting costly. I am not happy but it was an honest mistake on his part. Now to figure out what to do with them. I just wish it didn't cost me as I truly didn't make the decision. I wished I didn't listen. Oh well, mistakes... and we have a faucet that we need to figure out too - a 4" deckmount that has a sprayer that turns on and off. Oh boy - most are 8" or wall mounted.
Paint is drying slow as we have high humidity. The cabinets had to be assembled. I have a full day grooming tomorrow. Am I grooming out in my entry way? Time will tell and we go through this again when we get the sink. I had an argument with them too. What a day. Sink is supposed to be done in a couple of days then it takes 2 days to get a crate and 2-3 days to arrive here. I said then order the crate today so it is ready when the sink is ready. Oh, you want me to do that? Yes! Why didn't they think of that?
My sliding doors may have to wait till the sink comes in so I may be working without closing the closet. No biggie except it will be a hair magnet. It's almost 8pm and he doesn't have the cabinets up yet.
Dogs had fun. I ran all over town as one place had 1 cabinet, another had yet another - not all at one location. I thought this was going to be a swim day - yeah - right. Dogs don't mind any of this and love not getting combed. Tomorrow I have solutions to find.
Ali is in her forever home. She is busy getting Hugo to remember play and he is. They are in love and I certainly understand. We felt that this would help them with the loss of Milo and help Hugo find his play again and he is but the first few days was difficult on Hugo's part. I said 3-4 days and it was that.
But now Hugo is melting as he has a girlfriend. LOL We miss her and had no intention of doing this but we knew this would work. It is what everyone needed. If it didn't work out, she was coming back here forever. A part of me didn't want to lose her but how can I not help fill a void and well they dote on her like she's a princess. I am happy for her journey. It is the most difficult part of breeding and the best part of breeding knowing you made others tell stories and get excited with every new experience. Nothing better and they have filled me in every step of the way.
Tomorrow we get a 5 year old havanese back. He will stay here for a bit and get rehomed. With a new baby, a full work schedule, he needs more attention. More in a couple of days. We will always take our dogs back. We realize life sometimes is what it is.
So, lots of changes around here. We do what is best for the dogs - always. It's not about us but them. when they are happy, we are.

All I can say is OMG. What a day you had. I don't know if I would have your patience Darlah. I am sure you are very dissppointed. Renovations rarely go without a hitch. I am sorry it happened to you. I am also happy/sad for Ali but am very happy for Hugo and all family. I am sure their love will fill her little soul and they will be happy. Hope everything is fixed by tomorrow and you get your sink soon. You wonder why a company that sells so many sinks wouldn't realize that you should have crates on hand or at least know how to co-ordinate shipping better. You are too kind. Hope you have a better day tomorrow.
BTW who is Ali's mom?
Darlah is the 5year old a male or female Havi ?
What happened to Hugos pal Milo?
Ruth
Kathy: It looks like the 5-year-old is a male. Darlah refers to him as 'he'. Are you thinking about another?
What a day ! Hopefully you can sell the cabinets.
No question dogs can provide needed therapy. This morning I had a customer in my store who had just had chemo. Suddenly a big dog burst through the doorway as the embarassed owner tried to drag her back out. I told her it was OK to bring the dog in and she explained she was just walking down the street when the dog pulled her into the store.
The dog then spied my customer who was feeling weak from the chemo and rushed to her side. I sat the lady down and the dog gave her hugs and kisses and comforted her while she cried tears of joy at the dog love. The owner explained she was a therapy dog but had never done anything like that before. We were all a little teary and the customer was so grateful for the dog's actions !
Maureen: What a totally lovely story. I truly believe dogs know much, much more than they are given credit for. They are truly amazing beings.
Wonderful story Maureen. We remember your shop well and I know from having been there that you would welcome dogs with open heart. I wish all stores did the same 😘
That is a wonderful story. Dogs are amazing beings.... truly! Lynda Tam a dear friend with 1 dog from us, 1 from Yvonne is fighting an aggressive cancer. I hate the C word. It is really nice to hear that the havanese lend comfort to those in need. I hope hers do the same. Hugs out to your customer. Glad she was determined to get out despite her health! Bravo for helping, Maureen.
Yeah the last days have been overwhelming. Too much work and too many headaches. Could only sell the cabinets at a loss. I hope he can correct the gaps, flip the base and hang a door. We are not having a good time and I had to rush to get it all back so I could groom Rosie. Tonight I have 2 more. It's a huge job to move everything out then move it back in and then have to move it out yet again. Dennis helped me vacuuming walls but I did the rest. too much laying on just me but I guess its my grooming room. LOL I hope the sink installation goes better and it actually arrives.
Ali is Cinnamon and Stone. Fitz is Jeannie and Kat. Fitz has arrived. He is a creamy white all over.
Milo died from a heart condition at his groomers. I think he was 8 or 9. I have to ask his breeder or Helen and Suzie. It doesn't matter. It was way before his time. Milo was born here but he is not our breeding. Ali, is our breeding. They now have a Talemaker dog and they are loving her personality. Nice! Ali's official name is Talemaker's She's All Spice.
Darlah: I am sorry to hear about Lynda Tam’s battle. I know she is truly a dear friend. I am keeping her in my thoughts.
So sorry to hear about Lynda Tam's health battle. I am sure her two Havanese will give her lots of company.
Very touching story; our dogs are family, friend and best companion giving us strength and love to get out through our toughest battles. My heart goes out to Lynda and her family.
Darlah! I can’t believe the load you put on yourself!! And this was supposed to be the summer you took some time for yourself.
FITZ 😃 I remember Fitz as a puppy! I couldn’t keep my eyes off him in the puppy blogs. I always referred to him as Tubby - he was such a roly-poly chubby puppy.
Yes, he was. They also cut his hair like a bichon - argh short ears. If he is with us long enough, those ears will grow. LOL
Today and tomorrow are insane. I look forward to Sunday. I should be able to swim today but we have way too many people coming today. Tomorrow the same and I did 2 demattings yesterday that I felt my hands were going to scream and its the same feeling today. I know - no more but here I go again. At least I got a decent tip on one to help with this cabinet fiasco. Let's see if the handyman returns today. Seems he has other people that are new so he needs to do those and try to fit me in later today. Doesn't make me happy.
So difficult to find handy-men that are 100% dependable. I hope you can get your grooming room completed soon. It is very important to have a comfortable functional work space.
