Raven and Gucci attempting to swim race. :-)

Hello!  We brought home our new baby last night and Marcie has been super excited!  She would lick her skin raw if we let her 😝

Another swimmer, so exciting!

We had a full day. Goldie, Coco, Lennon, Cody, Crosby and Oliver departed. Tomorrow Gucci, Scruffy, Pepper and Chester departs. I almost thought it was the long weekend. LOL It was great to have a Leti puppy visit and to have a first visit with Crosby. He's not one of ours but he fit in nicely right from the start. It was a pleasure to have him.

Leti was beyond happy that she has a baby here. Moms... so special!

Here is the gallery.

Please folks, consider having the ears a bit longer. I am seeing grooming jobs where they cut the ears like a bichon - so short. I won't cut them like that so don't ask me. I like a havanese to look like a havanese and lately I am seeing so many with the little pixie ears. If you like them short, look at Gucci's ears. They are not long but not cropped to the ear. Maybe you like it this way so sorry if I am going on and on about it. I just happen to like the look of the havanese - short or long leave tail and ears and they will look like the breed they are. If you like them with pixie ears, ignore me and tell me - I LIKE IT THAT WAY, DARLAH. I will shut up.

Misty has yet another class tomorrow and did I put up the videos from last week? Not yet. Thought I was going to have a leisurely summer. As dogs has chewed baseboards, this week I am busy staining new ones and will be cutting them to replace. 30 years ago we put them in and they still had the same design. One must laugh. Everything changes and some stuff does not.

Nathan looked at the kitchen cabinets and said maybe it is time to paint them. I said, I am NOT painting cabinets. Do you see a theme here?

Tomorrow new dogs to groom, new memories. I can't wait!

The dogs, since Lennon are now looking for sticks to play with, covet and attempt to create games with and that they do.

With you 100%, Darlah. Ripley is way too cottony to be in long coat (sniff, sniff) but his ears and tail are left nice and long. We got the best compliment the other day. Someone said his ears were “red carpet ready” 😎

I like long tail & ears on the Havi, as well! Some groomers just dont know or think to respect the integrity of a breed. Many need to be told and shown a picture. Please take a pic of a dog whose cut you like. It may take a few grooms to get on the same page (as w/ humans).
Many groom the Havaese, Maltese, Shih Tsu, Bichon & Poodle the same. They learn from us to study the breed when you explain this to them and they're good enough to want to learn.
Sue, I get compliments often w/ Laci too! If only we could all be natural beauties like them. I laugh w/ amasement @ Laci when she wakes up - - she stands on the bed and does a shakey shake and every hair falls into place! I so admire her . . . 🐾💕

I totally agree with you on leaving tail and ears long, Darlah! I love the look of full coat, but just don't have it in me to keep Marlee and Sadie in full coat, but I do keep their ears and tail long. I think they look great this way!

I have my two with long ears and tail, seems to add a certain flair to the breed. They have such very beautiful ears and plumed tail. Having said that, I have tried to grow my two out but I just don't have the hands for the brushing daily. So, I have given up. They are gorgeous in my eyes just the way they are. But, I would always keep the tail and ears long.

The pic of the two dogs playing both standing with their mouths open is hilarious ,it looks like they're singing. You get the most wonderful pictures Darlah. I look at the days gallery every night ,it always makes me smile, thank you, Susan

Wonderful gallery, lots of pool fun for all! Yes, long tail and ears are so nice, that’s what differentiates a Havanese from the other breeds, whether the coat is short or long.

I said to Darlah when we picked ours up, if I can groom a 1100lb horse I can groom a 11 lb dog. Well Pixie is the 15min brushout, she doesn't mat much at all but Leo, argh! A good 1hr per day, if not more, his coat is so thick🤦‍♀️. I said I wasn't fond of the puppy cuts, so I kept my word to grow them full out. People keep asking when are they getting a haircut, haha! We have never sent them out to be groomed, all done at home. It is challenging some days, what I can't finish one day I always finish next day.And still learning every day new techniques.
Lucky for them, I retired before we got them, I really like grooming horses, and now dogs and Leo loves being brushed out, just as long as he can be with mommy🥰.
The work Darlah does to keep her visitors so gorgeous is truly amazing, Superwoman!

Dorothy, it is a lot of work and it’s a choice. Ours have never been trimmed, our choice and we know the work involved in keeping their coat mat free. I agree with you, it comes with some challenges....I admire you that you do all the grooming at home. Ours get daily brush/comb and a full bath every two weeks at a groomer’s. A wonderful place I might add. Either way, the key is to keep the coat mat free, whether it’s short or long. Our dogs deserve the best, always 💞

Anne, you & Russell have always done superb grooming w/ your Cooper & Spicy! I always admire their beautiful coats.

As w/ others, not easy for me as well, given Laci's cottony coat & my arthritis, but we do the best we can & make peace w/ it. 😊

Since moving to my present groomer some years ago, now believe the quality of products used to bathe makes a huge difference. Matting on Laci is far less now since higher end organic products have been used

Havanese really are beautiful companions! 🐾
