We are now doing a fecal. Last night she spit up and spit up phlegm all over my bed. It is the first time she is able to get some phlegm up. The Choledyl had kept it in the lungs vs working like an expectorant. She had her best sleep since this happened. So much so that I kept checking on her to see if she was breathing. Crazy where the mind goes.

Nava departed today and it is the 1st time Cinnamon was wanting to play with the pups. But in the videos with Nava, you will hear her coughing and coughing. Believe me, this is a better cough and she can breathe without trying to catch her breath. Plus her desire to be with the pups engaged is a positive. She is such a great mom.

Two vets are not better than one. They each have their own bills and ideas. After a hunt to see if Cinnamon had heartworms and whatever, our local vet says I guess we are on the right track. She has pnuemonia. I am awaiting my usual vet's advice.

I am NOT doing well. Too much - indeed on overload but I will relax when she is well. The rest, I just have to get my own coping skills. LOL

Dogs are doing well. No matter what goes down, we always make sure they have the time of their life. Their happiness is mine - even the dog who peed on the dog bed. Well, that didn't make me happy but I laugh now that the bed is cleaned etc

Winston has departed and is heading to his new home. His humans moved so he stayed here while they dealt with boxes and downsizing and all that fun.

Harlow - still seeing if she goes tonight. Rocco departs tomorrow.

Bad weather is coming, they say. We shall see. A gallery added later...

Happy that Cinnamon seems to be on the mend. Except for the colouring, she looks so much like her mommy Spicy, same facial features. Positive and loving thoughts sent to all 🥰

Thanks, Anne!

We're sending you all of the good and healthy vibes, bubbly Cinnamon. Get well soon!

That mom gene just never lets us rest, does it? I can remember bringing Ripley home as a puppy and checking on him through the night to see if he was breathing too for the first week or two. You never stop worrying, no matter what the age. Try and get rest too, Darlah. Cinnamon will rest easier knowing you are relaxed. They are so smart, they know when we worry.

Levon woke up with a sneeze/cough this morning, had a few throughout the day, and in the last hour or so it has become quite frequent. I think it’s going to be a long night. It’s a terrible sound. I sure hope Cinnamon feels better soon.

Glad to hear Cinnamon is feeling better. I heard the cough on the videos. It sounds pretty scary.

Been up since 4am with her. Not sure better is part of the equation yet. Think she overdid with the pups yesterday but she enjoyed it so. I need sleep.

January 11, 2020 | Registered CommenterDarlah

Shannon cinnamon is not contagious. Shes long past that stage and was isolated when she was. If levon has it, chances are trigger will. Be aware during the 1st sign he is contagious for 10 days approx. Reading the breeding lists, it is prevalent in Ontario. I think vets should have a system to minimize exposures. But not easy. I feel for you. A lack of sleep and worrying is not a good combination. Cinnamon finally fell asleep and we get up at 7am. Thats 7 minutes away. Sleep for them and you is important.

Sue so true

It's really hard to cope well this this stuff, Darlah! Especially when sleep is lacking. I sure do hope things improve hugely very soon. Just make sure you take care of yourself as well as Cinnamon! Thinking of you all and wishing the best!

My vet clinic is taking it pretty seriously. Warning everyone before they enter the clinic, isolating potential cases in certain areas and then quarantining that area for days. Staff wear masks and special gowns when seeing those patients. Sometimes they are going out to people`s cars instead of bringing the dog into the clinic. Scary stuff !!

Maureen: Good for them.

So sorry to learn Cinnamon has kennel cough. Sending her (and you) well wishes. Is a very long & tiring illness. We brought our 1st Bichon home w/ it unbeknownst to us. 😏 It’s long and drawn out. — like whooping cough with children, which my two girls got. It does sound even worse than it is, all depending on the individual case of course. It’s the complications that can set in and you have to be watchful for. Indeed, I think it’s harder on we Moms.
Glad to hear Cinnamon has taken a turn for the better. It’s times like these that you wish the time away and be over it.
I didn’t know it was prevalent this winter. Will be extra careful.
Thx for letting us know.
Hugs 🤗 🤞 💕

PS- Is that Cinnamon? If so, she still looks like a puppy. So cute! ❤️

January 11, 2020 | Unregistered CommenterDebi & Laci 🐾

Debi: Yes its Cinnamon. I wish ot was kennel cough but it has morphed into pneumonia. She has not had a good day. We are awaiting ventolin and the nebulizer that you use on dogs to help her breathe. I am nervous as our vet said sometimes they can faint with it. Scary stuff, imho.

January 11, 2020 | Registered CommenterDarlah

There was an increase in kennel cough same time last year.
I don't like these warm winters, more flu, sickness, since there is no cold temperatures to kill at least some of these bacteria or viruses.
Hope the meds will help her breath better soon, sending healing hugs.

Darlah, I’m sure Cinnamon will recover quickly. Sounds like you have wonderful care & support. And, with your experience. . . . Well, she will be fine All that said, something you said resonated in me. When our dogs are sick, so are we.

So hope for this to end soon!

Positive energy is sent out to you all! 🤗💕🐾
