On Chair

Well, it was warm. We got our orange outdoor sofa outside. Teak will get out this weekend when finished.

The dogs LOVE LOVE the furniture outside as then they have room to jump on high and lounge here and there but Nathan says no room for the lounge chairs. He has his chair and I have my couch. It is covid times so that's all we need. LOL

The dogs lounged and ran and enjoyed but no one swam. What can I say. We are still working on it.

Stopped at the Farmers market as our son lives next door and needed to come up to take the couch out and all that fun stuff. Wearing a mask in a car is... well sweaty and hot and yelling at him at the back of the van almost comical.

Fruit was subrate. The plants are little and extremely high in price. I was not impressed. Got some beefsteak tomatoes but by the time they give me anything it will be the end of the summer at this rate. All they had is baby plants. I sort of give up. No strawberries, no herbs and plant pots that are small with flowers for 69 dollars - really? I may skip gardening this year.

Dogs - well they are heading back outdoors. I heard leftover steak is on the menu. Nathan finds he can get some cuts of steak for them cheaper than ground beef. The dogs love it and we like indulging here and there.

Here is the gallery.

I cleaned my bbq grates today for jerk chicken tonight,Tom did do the major cleaning, had just enough propane and planted some tomatoes (different types) and Lebanese cucumbers(less bitter or something else?) Only 1 of my strawberry plants survived the winter
Cdn tire, close by,. had some black krim, beefsteak, yellow, and others, and the corner smoke shop had tons of herbs, that was yesterday but sure they have still lots(few cilantro, I'm going to try to grow them from seed since they bolt so fast).
Tell me what you may like and I'll check. I still need to get a certain purple annual that I like to put in some shaded planters, very unusual but they are vigorous bloomers, I don't even know the name.
I can deliver them tmrw on the way to the barn.

I have the hanging pots and it seems every other one of the strawberries may have survived. I did not cover and not much soil so a real miracle. I did buy 2 flower pots - small for the front planters. Have to plant them. The rest including one may stay bare or I will transplant something from the back. The tomatoes was not much more than seedlings on the tomatoes and for a tiny flat they wanted 22 dollars. I am shocked. Some of my plants survived somewhat that were taken indoors so that will have to do. If the prices are this high this year, I will just do without herbs and tomatoes and veggies. Going to ask the daughter if she has gone out to the garden centres in the country yet. I really like fresh veggies, herbs and tomatoes and cook all summer with them but if I can buy them cheaper - than what the hey.

I agree there is hardly anything to buy but I found beautiful healthy tomato plants at Home Depot

At what Home Depot?

I got 2 tomato plants for you, dropping them off this afternoon, I'll txt when I get there, I'll leave them at front door.

Looks like Dorothy already got some for you. I got them in Bracebridge but figured all Home Depots would have the same supplier source.

Dorothy: Thank you!! Going to transplant them today. I am mixed on putting them in the trug or in a pot. How fast do these grow? Unusual names for tomatoes this year. Home Depot which we were at yesterday - took 3 days to get the dryer kit - what a joke - you should see my laundry so Nathan collected that while I went in the garden center. They had 2 tomatoes called sliced that were mid sized for 39.99 a piece. Lots of peppers and not much else. Bare shelves everywhere. They had a huge sale on pumps. Got the last one for $20 so may have a water pot this year. I imagine this morning they have nothing left. One would think they would have a ton of supply on May 24 weekend. Not locally for me. I miss my lettuce bowls. Wonder if Loblaws has them this year. No cukes. Cukes, lettuce and tomatoes I could have salad all summer. LOL I swear covid is conditioning us to less choices and less quality.

Those tomatoes look like they came from a Quebec grower, not sure how many days to maturity, I just stuff unusual. 1 might be a type of beefsteak, other 1 is a pink type, I like different colouring on tomatoes.
Do you want cucumbers, I can still/will get you some. Or anything else, cilantro? I know I bought too many plants, again!
Real strange that your Home Depot ran out of veg plants.
I think from last year covid experience the growers didn't plant for this year since lockdown prevented garden centers from openly last year.
