Sprinkles
We never got in the pool today as it was lightly sprinkling off and on.
Tomorrow we are trying a service that cleans teeth without anesthesia on Raven as a test case to see if we want to use their services and let others know about it. We will let you know how it goes. We have to go up to Barrie just for thsi test case otherwise they would come to our home if we have multiple dogs at a time. More about this later.
I still have 2 dogs to groom tonight. Harlow as she is departing and one of my own - Willow. I fit my own in here and there. Now that the sun came out bright and shiny - yep got to groom. Go figure.
The dogs rather enjoyed the spinkling, Not enough to irritate but enough to cool things down.
It's a dawg life!

We used such a service, organized by our groomer. They were great. Happy dog, with clean, white teeth.
Just curious. Have you discussed that cleaning method with your vet ? A while ago I received some info from a clinic I have been affiliated with that talked about the procedure and the dangers. I can't find the info but I remember thinking I would never try it after what I read. Sorry I can't be more specific, just don't remember the details.
This is the Ontario Vet College statement.

Yes I am well aware. Nathan scrapes himself without issue but he falls short in doing it consistently. It used to be vets would do it for 350 or so. Now I hear costs of 1,000 plus. There is a vested interest with the vet college to push only vets cleaning. I decided to try it as I have had several puppy people try it and was very happy with these particular people. I will let you know either way. Teeth cleaning for vets is a big money maker. They neglect to tell you that you can lose a dog using anaesthesia too and with some doing it yearly you multiply the possibility. We almost lost Kat to a teeth cleaning. At that particular time our vet said if his teeth need to be done again, have it done without anaesthesia. So, yes I talked to a vet about it . If you need teeth pulled etc then a vet is your only choice.
I'll be interested to hear your experience. I have been using a child size electric toothbrush but I also recently purchased a KanineKare chew toy where you put the canine toothpaste on it and in it and they chew while the soft bristles help clean their teeth. I've seen a definite improvement.
I'm hesitant about the dental cleaning at vets. Neighbor's DIL is a vet and sees many dogs with so much dental disease and does lots of tooth extractions, because owners do nothing to prevent it, so I understand their position.
That's why I try my best with the brushing(adding coconut oil to the toothpaste is a huge incentive for Pixie to allow me to brush her teeth) and scaling their teeth at home(just a bit each time,if they let me) and dental chews daily.
I do use the Leba3 for Pixie aswell, her tartar was quite thick and that did the job.
I have heard about this 'cosmetic cleaning' and was considering to use them aswell.
I was VERY pleased with the results..
People forget about the dental. Sometimes we do. We do use Leba a few times a week. I do not brush daily - easier with 1 or 2, I suppose but not an excuse. But I should be using Leba nightly at bed time. People also forget about knots in ears too. Kat changed everything for us regarding anaesthesia. We realized doing so many teeth cleanings every year or 2 does affect them. Just because they had it last time without incident doesn't mean they won't the next. Some dogs are more prone to tarter than others. Roxie has never had a teeth cleaning and at 10 plus years old her teeth are clean. How can that be? It just is. Risa had hers done once at 11.5 and hardly needed it but as she aged we figured it was important. Jeannie seems to collect tarter so I do spend extra time with her but she will be getting the cleaning done when they come to our house in June. Anyone else that would like to get it done, let me know. I am completely pleased and do not have to worry about losing a dog on the table. My heart couldn't handle that.
