Too Hot to Handle

Think this heat is getting too much for the dogs. It's a no gallery day as mostly they said enough! I want air plus Dennis simply didn't click.

Ford made an announcement about this weekend. Nathan has Rebel in her 1st class - thank you Covid.

My body is having a revolting experience due to pollen. For the last week we have had yellow pollen all over our furniture and most everything. How do I know its the pollen that I am reacting to? I started cleaning it upclose and I am sneezing non stop, my throat is itchy so I took a hose and washed it off things from afar. I would love to know where it is coming from but if it is bothering me it has to be bothering the dogs.

This is a tomato plant that Dorothy gave me and it has gone wild. Tomatoes already growing. Thank you, truly!

These are my strawberries that survived the winter outdoors. That's a plastic pot and to dress it up, I put a vinyl saying on it. I took them all out of the pots I had hanging and placed it in 2 pots and they are thriving. Then I planted beans in the hanging pot. One thing I noticed was my chives have disappeared. Strange as they always come back.

We have a rather large rabbit that seems to be stupid or unafraid, It walks past me while I am weeding without a concern. I have convinced myself that my unruly garden needs to be so things like rabbits have homes. LOL That's my excuse and I am sticking to it. Only Halle seems to chase it. The others just look.

Nathan had to pick up a part that we needed to repair a sink and he said NO ONE was in the garden center. hmmmm

Looks like rain is coming the next 2 days. That's okay. Phoenix is coming and I get time with him. Can't get better than that!

This is my 3rd year for my strawberry plant. It’s separated into two plants and they’re quite large and healthy. I resigned last summer that they’re my gift to the chipmunks. They get the berries before I can, so figured that’s ok. Lol.
The green pollen has finally stopped here. A very bad year due to lack of May rain. It was a mess outside and in. Glad that’s over.
Laci so loves summer and the outdoors. She’s smart and knows when to come in. She drinks and lays on the cool leather couch and then back out to keep an eye on the chipmunks and squirrels! 🐿. We’ve so longed for this summer! Things seem almost normal. 🌞 🦋 🐝

Wow, that's amazing! Interesting cage in which to grow them. I planted mine in the veg bed, smaller plants with less sun but doing fine for me.
Don't think I'll try strawberries again, too many creatures eating them, I've now seen a groundhog around. Seems I'm just feeding the wildlife.
Maybe I should check out your garden centre, always curious. Actually looking for trellis/obelisk?for the 3 clematis I bought.

The excessive pollen is coming from the pine trees. Lasts until mid June. You can literally see them release puffs of pollen.

Darlah, That yellow Pine pollen was really bad everywhere this year. It’s heavy up north every spring. I take Benadryl for 3-5 days to relieve the same symptoms you had. It really helps. I start with 2 then 1 morning and night till it’s gone. Hope that helps!!

Oh that is what it is. I am still getting it all over everything and sneezing and coughing up a storm when near it. In air conditioning - no issue. This is the 1st year it has been so profuse. I think it is even bothering some dogs as they put their face in it so I make sure I wash it down whenever I see it.

Dorothy clematis is great at a fence as it will climb. Which kind did you get?

I know about feeding the wild life but I am storming up a solution. We have had 3 ripe strawberries and they were delicious. My issue is tomatoes. Something always gets it before I do but I cut out the offending munch and use the rest. It's not a great solution but I do so much with them that I need to save them. I want to biy some stakes and take some netting and build a barrier for night then during the day take them off. We shall see.

I am suffering from the pollen this year much more than my usual allergies. It is horrible. Along with going on daily walks the walking through all the gypsy moth caterpillars is getting me down. Oh well, Patches and Radar always cheer me up.

Piilu, Bernadine, Edda Boulevard the other day, H.P.Young last week(using a trellis from last year. Another 6 clematis just about to bloom from before.
Not much space on a fence, shrubs, trees, star magnolia all taking up the fence lines, it's very much full, I did lose a beautiful cream 'Guernsey' clematis 2 years ago. Seriously, you would be shocked with what I have in the gardens, even bought 3 more veg, black dinosaur kale, Japanese long eggplant, an early bokckoy to go with the green beans, cucumber and yellow zucchini, yes, I am certifiable. Once things open more I'm going to check out 2nd hand stores, etc for unique iron trellis, etc.
I'll take some pictures, remember garden looks different every 2 weeks.
P.S. going to weed/garden tmrw at brother's place you missed your chance.🤣

Dorothy: My cages, trellises etc I either buy used or save and use them again and again. Everything in the garden this year is used by me in years past. I have not bought anything new. It's not a good year to do that. I am dressing up some pots with vinyl designs. I think the cage is one I bought new about 20 plus years ago. I just spray paint and it looks new. I always have spray paint on hand. I have a table outdoor one to scrape and spray again. Tonight I cut a path on each side so people coming Saturday can walk without getting bushwacked with plants. LOL You had to walk sideways to walk on the path. Dennis is going to do the weeds around the pool and Nathan best mow. It's beyond ridiculous. I told him sorry I can't take on that job as well. He says, I know. take photos.

I'm trying the 'Chelsea Chop' this year with the tall phlox, everything is growing gangbusters. And I do trim lots each year, yard waste day at my place is shocking.
I've used up all my trellises, some are being repurposed for climbing veg.
It would be nicer if I had for full sun for the veg, even the patio is in shade till later afternoon.
Maybe I'll just stick the clematis in the ground with their mini trellises till I find something that will work.
You didn't see my black car covered in yellow pollen, and then the sap for the trees hardened it like sugar. Tom's allergies were really bad 2 weeks ago, you're getting it now, you're further north😉

The sneezing is pitiful. I can sneeze for 10 minutes straight. I timed it when I went out to pull weeds. Just from today I have 4 garden waste bags full and I have not made a dent.

PS: In Norway they use mirrors to redirect sun to plants and it works. I often wanted to play with mirrors as you get a stunning look along with the light to plants that need it. I do have a mirror in my pitt area. In full growth season, the reflection is stunning. Wonder if you could buy used mirrors and play with it this summer.
