Wet Hot Day

It's a VERY hot day and it's too hot for the dogs. I broke out in welts due to the sun which has never happened before so this is a NO walk day.

I believe in exercise so we will do some in the air conditioning but its not healthy when it is this hot.

Treasure asked to go in and I let her air dry. Then she asked to go in again. Kat of course went in. He goes in every chance he gets.

We also picked up a rescue and took him for a swim.

There are families highly interested in him but he deserves the best home. So, we will see how this unfolds.

Got to go to class with Truffie today but I want to go back in the pool. How selfish can I get? I would even take Risa in. hehe

Visitors

Steven and May came over with their 3 pups last night and it was great to see their dogs. As you can see in this photo Steven had a true smile on hisface watching the interaction and so did his wife.

It was so enjoyable that when they were about to leave, I said, already? Wow 3 dogs down and 2 humans just like that. We will have to do it again soon.

Last night we had a thunderstorm and we left all our cushions out so I have been spending the day trying to dry them - silly, silly me. That's a lot of work when it would have taken 10 minutes to put it away even though I didn't know the storm was coming.

We are going to see Helen and Suzie today and we will watch their Milo and Hugo have fun and then they will go home too. I swear visits of just an hour or so you enjoy but sometimes when the dawgs are really having fun, it goes by way too fast.

The sun is out. I should be in the pool but instead I am playing with the dawgs after their grooming. They all had dental bones that Steven brought as a gift last night. Nice - they all loved them. Thnx!!

Visiting Pool Time

Today we had visitors and more coming tonight. Milo and Hugo went for a swim. You can see Milo looking at Truffie. They had a roaring grand time.

Tonight at 7pm we have Steven and May coming over for a visit with their trio. I can't wait to click photos of that. When they bring their crew home we have Frannie coming over.

It is simply a very busy day. But it is also a fun one that gives me lots of opportunities for photos.

We also had Gidget hanging out on the futon couch outside legs up in the air ever so comfortable. Gad the dawgs are great to capture, watch and cuddle with.

It's good to be home. The seminar was the best. I learned so much and it was plain fun and good to perfect skills. Those babies are very important but they all are. :-)

Nice Day for a Swim Part 3

Here's where we find out if those of you reading, read all Darlah's blogs every day.

By now those of you that know us realize that I would never do that if not to myself, to my wife. And of course you’d be right. It is a beautiful sunny day outside. Terry dropped in for a visit with Sparky earlier this morning and we decided to sit and have a coffee outside. As luck would have it there were ducks in the pool. DUCKS! That’s Shoshi’s role. She gets up on her back legs and barks at them with everything she’s got. Of course as she doesn’t have a vicious bone in her body so it isn’t much. But she’s got support. Does she ever. Every dog in the house is lined up on one side of the pool, where they usually line up when they are encouraging Kat to jump in. He’s quivering to go after the ducks as the ducks, being ducks, swim nonchalantly around in the middle of the water telling the dogs to speak to the hand. I think it was Terra who provided the final straw and they realized that they really weren’t that far away from the dogs and off they flew. I made sure to congratulate Shoshi on her fine performance helping the ducks decide not to swim in our pool today. Every dog needs a job. Shoshi’s is getting rid of the ducks. Truffie wasn’t sure what to make of any of it but it sure was exciting and I wish I’d had the camera. Sorry. And for those of you that still don’t get it, I made up the other story out of whole cloth. No rain today, no mud and muck and are you crazy? I’d never leave a dog un-brushed after they went swimming. That’s called responsibility and the fear of death from my wife, a potent combination.

Sticks: Does She Notice?

Are yours fascinated by sticks as well? I swear no matter how many toys they have, there is a clear fascination with sticks.

Spicy will covet them and hide them under her paw and body as if you won't see.

She's a riot.

Oh and they say dawgs aren't smart, think again. They can be too smart for their own good.

Here Spicy is doing her quiet shuffle to hide them from me in case I grab them and throw them out.

Mommy, garden some more so I can find more sticks, will ya?

Our garden is filled with all kinds of opportunties for Spicy to indulge this vice of hers. I will keep a close eye on her all the same. One comment, which I imagine Darlah has made in the past. We have a swimming pool. With it comes responsibility. That means we never leave our dogs out alone when they can access it, never. It doesn't matter that all of our adult dogs know perfectly well how to get out of it if they get in it. This is one tragedy I never want to experience. If you have a pool never leave your dogs alone with access to is, just the same as you'd do with any toddler. There is no grey area on this one. Protect your family.

Hairy Face

I think they are learning from Risa. I just finished brushing everyone and Risa managed to lose her back elastic band and this is the result.

Why do I try?

Each day I thoroughly brush the crew and some just have to look at me with love saying it's all useless - so why do you do it, ma?

Well, at least you don't have knots.

I am off to a seminar today and won't be back till the weekend ends. I am sleeping over at Yvonnes and getting up at 4am to drive into Ottawa and staying in Ottawa overnight for a 2 full day seminar.

Will Nathan update the blogs? I hope so otherwise it will be me from what he telsl me minus pictures as he will have the camera.

I thought he did a fabulous job last time.

Resemblance?

Sparky came to visit today. He's a Kat and Abigail pup. Do you think he looks like his mom or dad or maybe both?

Let's see today it was cooler so that crazy lady wasn't doing too much gardening so she was throwing all sorts of toys so we could go get them. Sometimes we brought them back and she played more and other times we didn't and what the hey she stopped playing.

That's right! That's how it is done.

Everyone got groomed. We had a love fest on the futon folded down outside and life has been grand. Tons of play, no knots and not as hot. What more could a dawg want? I guess they exercised quite a bit as dinner was gone in a flash literally. I never saw a crew eat so fast. heh

Pool Time With Mom

Treasure loves to climb up on the pool mat and she can do it herself. It's a riot. When she gets up there it's as if she is saying nah nah nah look I am in here with mommy now what are you going to do about it?

Treasure is a powerful swimmer. She doesn't dive in like Kat but she will swim and climb out and on top of mats. She does love the water.

Today, it was her, me and Kat swimming in-between grooming, playing with the dawgs and gardening. It's the gardening that I want to take a magic wand and it's done. I don't think I will ever be done but I am dreaming of puppies outside, pool and fun.

Spice & the Water

Spice had her first dip in the pool and she wasn't crazy about the idea at first but did rather well.

We will take her out frequently to get her to find her love.

It's not that she didn't like it. It's as if she wasn't sure what this truly was about.

She did have a roaring grand time doing run-like-hell after with her wet skinny legs all around, up on the deck and all over our towels.

Well she needed a towel too, don't you know?

Treasure also went in and so did the Terra.

Tomorrow more swimming. heh

Waiting is SO Cruel

Our pool was closed last year so it's been a long time since Kat has been swimming. Did he forget? Take a look at the photos.

Daddy got his swim trunks on and Kat was brimming with excitement. Nathan went upstairs, got his ipad, came down, ate and Kat was BESIDE himself.

I took him outside and he started running that mad run-like-hell thing that the Havs do. He was pumped and waiting.

Then he kept running to the sliding glass door to look for Nathan.

Kat never goes in unless Nathan is going and he was going CRAZY waiting. It was almost too much for the little boy. But he tried being patient.

Them finally Nathan came out with Spice and the rest of the crew stayed inside and yep, he remembered.

It was as if this is what he was meant to do. Gad does he adore diving in.

Not As Well Today

Spice got best of opposites, puppy in breed. WE are proud of her. It's not what she gets but how she shows and to be perfectly honest, next to Kat, she shows the best from the start with minimal training.

I do believe she is Daddy's gal too.

We just cranked up the pool and we are hoping by tomorrow Nathan and Kat can jump in and who knows who else. The weather has to cooperate and Nathan has to get home from work.

As I sit and look at the sun out at this moment but rain this morning, there may be hope but probably not till Tuesday.

Saturday

Yikes

Well I took photos today at the show and then formatted the stick. Talk about idiotic but it happens.

Spice got best puppy in breed, best of winners and best of opposites.

She actually showed very well so now I think Nathan is upset that I deleted the card. ^&%$ happens.

I get to wash Spice tomorrow and do it all again.

Then no other shows are planned.

Gad I had so many cute shots of her.

Blogs Are a Changing

The Spice and crew info will now be found on THIS blog. The Wasabi pregnancy and pups will be found here. The Abigail pregnancy and pups will be found here. The Truffie blog will be found on Fiona's blogas that is her puppy and she reminds us of that every single day. hahahaha

Spice has another show this weekend but no competition so its just practice. We are hoping to sewe more class dogs at some of the local shows. If it wasn't so close, we would forget about it.

We did go by the show and bought shampoo/conditioner, OMG spray and a new Plush Puppy brush (old style) that I adore. They also had cheap crate pads for sale but I have to check the size.

We had a very busy day today playing, grooming, playing, feeding, grooming hahahaha

They say warm weather is coming by Sunday. If so, we are getting the pool ready. Oh please, let's say it's true.

Is it Pool Time?

I have to tell you, we have a pool cleaner that climbs up the walls and when it hits the air, it sounds like a monster is coming to get you. It's taken a few dawgs and humans by surprise but they get used to it.

We are still dealing with rain and more rain but they say it's supposed to be scorching hot next week so the pool better be ready by then as the dawgs and I will be in it.

Kat is really itching to go in the pool but he won't attempt until Nathan comes out with his swim trunks on and then he will dive in.

If I get my suit on, he ignores the pool. Don't you find that quirky? It's a father and son thing, I guess - human dad and canine son.

Fiona enjoys checking out the bug population vs. the pool. Yes, she will swim but none are quite like Kat.

I am looking forward to seeing if Spice or Truffie is.

We are also looking at getting a scamper mat to see if we can train pups to use it under our supervision, of course.

Tomorrow we head to the vets for ultrasounds.

Is it that time already? I have a garden to do sometime like YESTERDAY. Now to try to train the dawgs to help. Yeah...right.

Gardening and All That

Today we were out gardening due to knee high or is that hip high weeds and the fact hat I lost a stick from the get together that we had in Montreal. What has one have to do with the other? Well, nothing except ripping out weeds de-stresses you supposedly.

I am so miffed but still trying to extract it. I did use another stick so you can see SOME but far from all. :-( Check them out here.

It was overcast today and the dawgs were loving that Dennis and I were pulling but did we make a dent? HARDLY. There is so much to do.

Some of the dawgs decided to help us but when they started ripping on the strawberries vs the weeds, I thought it was time to quit or that was the excuse.

Dennis lasted longer than I did and some of the dawgs stayed out to watch and laze in the overcast weather. The younger set was running like banshees but with all this fun of resizing and extracting, I didn't take a single photo - sorry.

Risa was bug hunting as you can see in this photo. Yes, she bug hunts - yuck. She is fascinated with the moving things and she's the only Havanese we have that eats bumble bees from mid-air. Does she get stung? NO but she smacks her lips - double yuck.

Well, we are going to see Spice's brother tomorrow. He's the sable boy and I am told he has a lot of hair. I will have to take a photo of THAT. Can't wait!

Tuesday Blues

Well, what is it about Tuesdays?

Everyone got groomed and I don't mean just a cursory grooming but the real deal and then that human Mommy went out with us and we looked at her with much curiousity as she clipped this, clipped that and we said to ourselves, what the hey, we like it overgrown, lady!

How do you think we are going to play hide and seek.

But that human fizzled out fast and didn't get much done as she mumbled about the lack of garden bags.

Everyone was sniffing up a storm, which is usual after a big storm. All those smells surface, I imagine. Glad I don't have their smell capacity.

Yes, Wasabi was groomed too but this was her after grooming look. hahahaha She drives the mom crazy mucking up under the deck and looking as ragged as she possibly can just for the fun of it right after she is groomed.

I didn't get to any photos and I know I promised them today but I am out of steam. Tomorrow, tomorrow!

I do promise.

On Friday this duo is going to have their ultrasounds and we will start updating their individual blogs daily. Wasabi is eating like we are starving her quite literally and Abigail is eating better but needs the extra good stuff to entice. This is norm with these two.

More tomorrow and the humans will be recovered by then, we promise!

Winding Down

Well Spice was in her first show and got a point for winners bitch.

I thought it was impossible with the judges this weekend but she showed like a pro - no lie.

I know I am biased but she walks with a prance and wags her tail at the judges as if she is meant to be in the ring. It's rather nice.

I will have to put up some of the photos as this is her very first show. She is supposed to be at a show next Friday to Sunday in Richmond Hill but we are supposed to have an ultrasound for Wasabi and Abigail on Friday so maybe I will be going to the vets alone and Nathan will be cabbing it.

The life of having only one car. We shall see. We are still trying to figure it out.

Me, I am looking forward to seeing the ultrasounds.

Everyone is having a really great time this weekend. The pool is not ready yet. I do believe if the weather cooperates we will be swimming soon and teaching the dawgs to swim including Spice and Truffie. It's going to be a lot of fun!

Visitors

We had a lot of visitors yesterday and it was a treat to see Charlie and Sparky along with Missy and Max.

Yes, and we saw Lexi as well.

I loved seeing the humans, eating great food and I slept like a baby.

Linda and Bob are really gracious hosts.

I can't post photos as my usb isn't working but we will get that fixed and upload some great photos of the times we have had.

We hope everyone is having a wonderful holiday.

More later.

No Photo Day

The sun is finally out. The weather is getting there but they say rain is a coming. But it is a holiday weekend and the dawgs are having fun.

Risa just had her teeth cleaned and is lounging out at Yvonnes as she is close to the vets and Yvonne is such a wonderful friend. We will pick her up on Monday.

Everyone loves Yvonne and her backyard. It's a dawgie paradise.

We have a full day and we wil have to fill you in on what that is later. We are catching up with friends and seeing dogs we haven't seen later today - fun for sure. More tomorrow!

Personality Plus

I was looking through old photos and noticed the crew have always really had fun with each other. Terra has always been a good egg.

Soon the good weather will be here and we wil have pregnant moms floating in the pool especially when they are close. The warm buoyancy is good for the as they don't feel like they are carrying extra weight that way.

I remember Risa with the Kat litter, we had her in as much as we possibly could and she loved it.

We plan to do a lot of pool time this year, if the weather ever cooperates.

Do you think it will?
