8 Weeks 3 Days Old

Two more days we head to the vets. Our daughter, our 2 grand daughters and Dennis, or son will hold down the fort. Before we depart I will have washed and trimmed dogs that are doing home that day. I will pray they don't get dirty. heh.

As this is the 1st day our vet will be back from holidays I expect it to be extra busy so we may be waiting a bit. I hope not but no one plans emergencies. Then they will have a couple of days to recover, if they need to. Then they get a visit.

Here is today's gallery.

As you can see Leo and Skylar are now enjoying puppy time.

8 Weeks 2 Days Old

We were lifting our paws quickly today as the yard had a melt and then got cold so the ice came as a slick cover over everything. Even the humans was having a tough time walking out there.

On Wednesday the pups have their vet visit. On Saturday earlier than normal to accommodate someone we will have a visit at 10am. It means extra early wakeup for us. :-)

Baths this week on Friday will not be photographed individually.  I have 5 baths that day plus the 2 moms and the pups. I am not super human. I will wash all, place them in the crate with a crate dryer semi dry them and by the time I am finished washing, I will start at the first and dry them completely. As we still have holiday visitors departing this week, I have a full schedule. You will still see photos just not one at a time.

Then the pups start departing a week later and you get to see the family photos.

Nathan may be contacting those of you on the waiting list as we had a family that felt like this was the wrong timing for them.

8 Weeks 1 Day Old

We had a blast outdoors in the snow. Can you believe a success the first time out in that white stuff.

Here is the gallery.

The pups are now upstairs. I won't take a video or gallery of the upstairs play. You have seen that. <smile> but just know they are having fun.

Videos are getting uploaded. You can see them here.

8 Weeks Old

We are 8 weeks old now and guess what? Our last meal will now be at 8pm. Eventually before we go home our last meal will be at 5-530pm. Everything is a process to get us ready to going home. This will be the first night without food at night time. Moms are no longer feeding us. Essentially we have to go almost 12 hours without eating. We will still have water at night till we are 9 weeks old.

Can you believe in another couple of weeks we will be on an adventure - in our forever home. Oh my!

Be sure to check out the videos.

7 Weeks 6 Days Old

Normally we would be doing the visit this Saturday but it is a holiday weekend. It won't happen till the following week after their vet visit. We will have guests till after the new year and we can't even get the pup into the vets till 8.5 weeks old. Holidays change everything. Plus many of you can't come. It will be New Years Eve.

Here is today's gallery.

These pups will be 8 weeks old tomorrow. They are completely weaned. Moms have reduced food now much to their irritation. We are hoping for dry snow to get them outside. I suspect the first few times they will be very cold. That means short visits outdoors. But today is slushy snow. 8 pups with snowballs on them is not a good thing. So, we wait!

7 Weeks 5 Days Old

Just like human siblings sometimes they can be irritating to their siblings. Oh, you have that toy? I want that toy. They are in that learning stage of trying things out and learning boundaries. If one is being a pain they usually just stop playing with them but if they don't 'get' it, I give them an extra hand and say no. Both essentially is the same language - the play stops. By about 8 weeks they get it without any extra help. This is a normal phase and I noticed they are testing.

No one growls. It's simply I am going to pursue you till you play with me or give me that toy. Sounds like kids, doesn't it? They are learning respect. Oh, you don't want to play now. You want to sleep - ok.

It's a great stage as you learn so much about them. They learn patience and coping skills. This is a great crew and no one has become upset when things don't go their way. We have only had okay I want that toy so I will pursue you experiences but even that never escalates.

Interesting enough I can put treats in with them (1 per pup) and no one tries to steal or has any food aggression. They share quite well. It is one of the ways I test them. If they can't share as they like the treats so much and can't see past that, I remove them and I try again over and over again but this crew has done well with this test. Those that do not at first actually benefit from the conditioning and arrive at the same point. So don't judge. I am only sharing with you what we do so they have the learning experience in a positive way.

7 Weeks 4 Days Old

I have to weigh the crew again. They are gaining weight now that they are on solid foods. They seem more substantial to me. I will try to do it in the next day or 2.

Pups are really a fun enjoyable crew.

In another week we will try them outside when its not so wet. When will this weather ever cooperate?

Be sure to check out the videos.
