Outside Play

Here are 2 Raven pups and 1 Misty pup with Spirit. She so loves the puppies and still to this day cleans Rebel. It is wonderful with them being so young that non moms are able to interact with them.

The pups had 2 play sessions outside. They went from barely getting out to twice a day playing outdoors and sometimes playing outside the pen. Each time I clean their pen, I put them out of the pen to play giving me the ability to take everything out and clean.

One Day Shy of 4 Weeks

Pups had a full day today. They had a play session in this room outside of the pen and outside as well. Soon we will bring them upstairs to play but tomorrow is supposed to be so warm that outdoors is it! Now that they are older I have my windows open to get some fresh air.

Sometimes when you put 2 litters of different ages there is some activity that gives you an idea that weight can be a factor as they don't play according to size. These 2 litters are great about this. They get along great. I am really impressed at this age.

3 Weeks 5 Days

It was such a wonderful day out that we took the pups out for their very first outside exposure. How did they do? Like they were meant to be outdoors. They not only was together but they also had the noises outside. I think it was more difficult on the moms. LOL

3 Weeks 4 Days

I gave them food today and 2 are readily eating it. The other boy sniffs and licks but likes moms milk the best. I decided to put it into the pen so they always have access to it along with water.

Each day they get more active. more interested in the food and a couple are using the pad. they sometimes get interested in Misty pups but so far they are more interested in each other. Tomorrow, I may put 1 out of Raven's and one of Misty's out. The floor is getting easier and they like roaming. LOL

We are still figuring out 6 and 8 week visit with the stay in home order. 8 week may work as it may be over and it is imperitive that you meet the pups. <sigh> The 6 week one we may have to do a zoom meeting. We are still figuring it all out.

Still working on blogs. As soon as that is done, I will upload the videos. Or I will try to do it all at once. LOL

3 Weeks 3 Days First Food

I know it is early but their digestion system must be 3 plus weeks and they are.

The best eater was the brown boy and I knew he would be as he was sniffing around mom's food.

They did rather well considering their age and being their first time. We will do it again if in 24 hours their bowels are doing well. Then after that daily and ramping up.

3 Weeks 2 Days Old

Pups are playing more each day just like the Misty pups did at this stage. I am making an effort to play with them a number of times a day. Sometimes without the cameras on I just lay there and snuggle and play. It is truly good for the soul.

Misty Pup Visits Raven's Crew

Well today we did a side by side shot which you will see in Misty's blog and when we came back after a walk about, I took the girl in to visit the Raven pups. No real play - more like you walk me around teh house then put me somewhere different?

The Raven crew are playing more as I knew would occur. This is the time frame. I am also going to continue each day taking a Misty and Raven pup for a house tour and to see the dogs then put that Misty together with the Raven crew. It is a great way to get them conditioned.

Raven had food in the pen and the 3rd born was wagging his tail interested. But Raven ate it all. He was curious.

3 Weeks oLD

All the pups gained over 2 ounces. This is double the usual gain in a day. As you can see their tummies are wide. LOL

They are starting to lick my face and nose and are starting to play with themselves or interact with their siblings. They need to get moving more to slim down if they are going to gain 2 ounces in a day. Misty's pups are gaining on an average of an ounce a day.

Raven has a TON of milk. They will slim down as they walk. That's how it goes.

In the next few days they should be interacting as much as Misty's pups are now.

1 Day Shy of 3 Weeks

The pups are starting to play with each other. It is quite nice to watch. If I go see Misty's pups, Raven looks at me as if to say - now my pups get their turn.

Now that they are in their big open space there is a lot of laundry to do. LOL We are putting them on the pad each time we notice they are awake. Some of them go. We praise and keep at it. It is a process.

Tomorrow I will trying to get a Misty puppy and a Raven pup side by side so you can see the size difference. That is, if I remember.

19 Days Old

I think 3 weeks is the magic number. These pups play but mostly sleep. When they get to be 3 weeks old, their world changes in activity.

They had no issue with the new surroundings.

If you look at that gal, she is so plump. Raven is feeding them well!

18 Days New Area

You didn't think that only Misty pups were going to have a new area. I know they are young but I said why not.

How ere they with the change? They may have been stone cold shocked but no whimpering but they are sticking together. This is norm when they are this young. After the initial change they act as if nothing has changed but room and being able to look at other puppies.

It will take a bit of time for Dennis to put them on or to make sure all are on throughout the night but if this trio sticks together, mom will find all 3.

17 Days Open

Ever notice how Raven's 3 pile up to eat. There are many other milkstations. They can see now but my sibling is there so I must have that spot too.

Every now and then they are interacting with each other but that will increase as it did with Misty's pups.

16 Days Old: Last Eyes Open

Ms Independent finally opened her eyes 2 days later than her brothers.  When she opened them, they went from closed to wide open.Then she half opened them and stared at me. She is hysterical.

The pups are starting to get more active but not as much as the Misty crew who has a 4 day lead on them. But once they are all walking, 4 days is nothing. The younger ones always learn from the older and then eventually it will be as if they were all born together.

15 Days Old

I bet you are wondering or was assuming the girl would have her eyes open. Nope... I have had a hold out up to a week. It happens when it does. I will let you know when she does decide to have eyes wide open.

Two Weeks: 2 Eyes Open

The boys decided it was time to open their eyes. The gal - not today!

If you notice 1 has their ears up, one almost down. They do start falling down starting now. tails still curl down but they too will curl up after walking. It is interesting to watch and see all the changes.

They have now started to interact with each other.

13 Days Old Nails Cut

Pups were great for nail cutting. They are showing no signs of eyes opening. That is okay as I said the Misty pups were early.

They are 1 day till they are 2 weeks old!

12 Days Old

I looked at the Misty pups at 12 days old to compare weights and they are pretty consistent but Raven's will be shorter in length as that is what is in that line.

Misty's eyes open was early. I am not seeing slits in these pups yet. Misty's opened at 11 days. Early or late it doesn't matter. They can just see so activity begins.

At birth, a puppy’s central nervous system is still developing, including their optical nerves. Because their optical nerves aren’t fully developed, they’re too delicate for bright light—which is why their eyes remain shut until the nerves are finished developing. That means they open when it is time.

10 Days Old

Yes, they are now a week and a half days old. I have started to weigh them only in the morning but I still pick them up and cuddle with them. This group of 8 Misty and Raven's will be such fun. I know it!

Raven also needs a bath but her pups are eating more frequently so I will wait till this crew is 2 weeks old. That is my usual norm.

9 Days Old

The pups manage to find mom more times than not. If they are hungry, mom is there.

As this crew is 4 days younger, they will be merged at 3 to 4 weeks old. We watch how they interact between the bars and that tells us the correct time. They need their eyes open and to be walking before that occurs.
