8 Days Old

Spitit is a funny gal. Dennis put an xpen around the couch to keep her off? Why? She climbs up and digs all the blankets off the couch over and over and if no blankets, she pushes the cushions off. All this while her pups are sleeping. So what does she do? She jumps up and over the xpen. Yep - mighty agile. I want to laugh. So there!

Tempie tries but she can't quite make it but try she does.

Pups are doing well. They are not gaining as fast as they were but that is normal. Once they start trying to walk it will slow down again as they expel a lot of energy. Got a bit for eyes to open but not too long. Now that will be an exciting milestone.

1 Week Old

If you look at your screen, the boy is on the left and the gal has the apricot cheeks. Both have brown pads. She appears, at least for now to be a chocolate sable. He seems to be a chocolate. We will see how it all unfolds. They seem to be on the same path on weight gain.

I do not stage the pups so the positions you see them in is the ones they get into by themselves.

I brush the moms daily and I can't wash till at least 2 to 3 weeks as pups need to have that window of sleep allowing me to bathe. Moms also need not to be in the stage of worrying. Too much stress on moms. 

These pups want for nothing.

Almost a Week

The duo is one day shy of a full week. How did that happen?

Yesterday, I caught one climbing from the back of her, over her body to get access to the milk. Wow how strong is that one!

Pups are doing well. Mom is starting to eat on her own without being coaxed - bravo!

5 Days Old

This morning, when I weighed the duo they were essentially the same weight. The gal was less till now. I suspect they will go back and forth. They are gaining nicely.

Dennis got to take care of 2 litters last night and all gained.

4 Days Old

The pups are now 4 days old. Here is the gallery.

The pups gained EXACTLY the same amount in the last 24 hours. That's 1.2oz.

They do make their way around the whelping box. I will be uploading videos soon. I have been grooming all day. 

When the pups sleep, Momma Spirit comes up on my lap for cuddles. She loves to feel special and she is. 

Pups and mom are doing well. I brush up Spirit and she looks a mess again.
