No Update of Sorts

On Sunday, after pups have departed, we will go see the Treasured one. I miss this gal madly - think I miss all that remain and get placed later. It is always the most difficult decision. We have to consider what is best for her not us. Treasure got into a mode of telling everyone to not bark, to not do this or that and she wasn't like Risa who got her way without the others realizing it. Treasure needed to be an only dog and she is. But we miss her so yearly we go visit and enjoy how much she loves her human. Each year she follows me around and my heart sinks but then she goes back to her human. It is obvious she has great memories with me.

I really really like her human so it is a double fun time to see both. We are hopeful it will come together this Sunday when we too need a distraction after 15 departing.

Sorry about the lack of galleries or the emotion of missing. We so love our dogs - each and everyone that we have been blessed to experience.

Yawn and Play

Yawn, I guess she will now finish me so I can be picked up. Chloe is done in stages as she tends to want to play - not be groomed. LOL I can't blame her. I just finished her a few minutes ago. That mohawk had to go. Yes, I am laughing. She is so darn cute and as playful as she comes. She was playing with everyone but especially liked Harlow and Reggie.

Here is the gallery.

Everyone else is a disaster but that means combing before bed. What can one do when we have pups departing tomorrow and I am still not ready. That statement - it is what it is comes to mind.

It is supposed to be very hot all week. 15 visits between tomorrow and Sunday. I feel like it is the 8 week visit but so much joy with the humans and that is worth it.

Sunday afternoon after the last is picked up, we head downtown to see Treasure. We are so looking forward to it. Yes, that distance thing will be practiced but not with Treasure. I so miss her! It will do us good as we get mighty sad when they go and well as Dennis says, we are mighty conditioned in 10 weeks. My laundry and cleaning and all will change till Raven. See Raven's blog for the xray date.

Everyone had a lot of fun today. Only Ella and Sage decided to jump in the pool. The rest watched. Now they are outside laying all over Nathan.

Nathan and Dennis tell me I can have my outside couch back after the pups are gone. I think it should be before then. They said there is no room out there with 15 pups.

Nathan cut the grass today!

Just Hot and Fun

Here is the gallery.

I promise after this wild and crazy week, I will get back to my usual. I simply have way too much to do. I usually run on half empty but this is registering almost out of gas. LOL

Instead of blogging and doing galleries, our time is spent on doing all that needs to be done before the pups go home and making sure the adults enjoy and they are enjoying. As I bought treats for the puppy departures, I bought a bit of extra so the adults could enjoy too. Last night they had chicken jerky. Today they had denta-roo sticks to help them clean their teeth and enjoy a past time of chewing something they love.

I had so many plans and not enough - there I go again gas to get it done so maybe Raven's crew will catch me having time to be creative. I hope so.

My paths need a sword to hack the paths open again. I have not find the time to do it but I promise one path where you can walk down will be done. It's on me so maybe if I make headway on the stuff required for the 2 Tuesday departures, I can handle getting that machete out. We shall see. Tomatoes - heirlooms and the rest are growing crazy. Strawberries - thank you Dorothy - almost there to eat. I can't eat the stuff in the trug fast enough. Oh well silly things to complain about.

I am ever so thankful seeing visiting dogs again - thank you!

Now back to making progress. Dogs are out with Nathan watching him swim. No one has gone in yet. It is hot enough. They instead enjoy sitting in the shade watching and that is okay some days too. Besides, I am in here typing vs watching and clicking but Nathan keeps sitting on the stairs typing away to me on his phone. He best not sink the iphone. I think I will step outside and remind him of that before I get into this paperwork. LOL

Oh Boy

Thought I was going to have time to blog but in reality we have pups departing in 3 days and due to the lateness of getting the info - well no photos - no galleries. Sometimes you jst have to say - I do not have the time, But in the back of my head I say - well I never miss a day.

I am running my body non stop in all directions.I need 1 puppy departure date and I can continue down my path of going blind getting everything done. LOL

We do have Harlow, Benji, Daisy, Reggie and Lexi here. Lexi and Benji depart tonight. It's the biggest crowd we have had since covid began. Hope it continues. I truly miss everyone.

More tomorrow...

Visitors

Logan and Panda was over visiting and Panda came in with no top knot and badly chopped. I had to laugh so we straightened it out as much as we could and I said - you don't look like Panda anymore. I remember when Kat's top knot was chewed off by a visitor and it took 2 years to grow back. It is ONLY hair folks and it grows so nothing to fret about. They sure do love their Daddy. Now that is what matters.

Tomorrow I will try to get a gallery up of the last few days. With puppy stuff and trying to get ready for departures, I am have been remiss. Apologies.

Pingo At Home

Hello Nathan and Darlah!

Hope everything is going well with the new crew of pups! I wanted to send you some updated pictures I have taken of Pingo recently.

He brings us so much joy, I’m not sure I could even explain. He is def spoiled rotten and we would not have it any other way. We are so beyond blessed to have him in our lives.

Enjoy the pictures and feel free to post on the blog!

At the Cottage

Hi all

The puppies are so cute - makes a nice break in the day to watch them grow and learn. After months of being forced to stay home (rightly), we are happy to be able to go back to the cottage. Both dogs love the wide open spaces and exploring, and DeeDee is happy to have her daily boat ride.

Best to the whole Talemaker’s larger family, and stay safe

Happy 9th!

Hi Nathan & Darlah,

I hope that you and the family (and the doggies!) are all keeping well and staying safe and healthy.

Mia and I just wanted to reach out and wish all of her siblings a very Happy 9th Birthday! We can’t believe our baby girl is already nine years old... she is now big sister to three little brothers and she is absolutely the most gentle and patient pup we ever could have asked for. She brings so much love and joy and such a calming presence to our pretty crazy home - Vince and I always say that she’s the best behaved of our children lol.

Morning Darlah and Nathan, hard to believe Stella’s 9 today. She is the sweetest little girl ever, and the best companion anyone could ask for, especially during these trying times. Thank you for her . Happy Father’s Day Nathan. Take care of yourselves Lots of love from Stella and I .

Tribute

SUE EDWARDS

We lost a kind, brave, generous, good-hearted and clever woman on Sunday.

Sue Edwards came to see me some years back, through Nathan and Darlah, to interview me for the Havanese Magazine.  Well, we clearly had one thing in common:  a love of a lovely breed - her Calleigh and my Cuba.  Sue and Richie came to my house in Oxford, UK, Sue to interview me, Richie to take what turned out to be some of the best photographs I’ve ever had taken, and I’ve had a lot, over the years, and by some fairly spectacular photographers - David Bailey, Norman Parkinson, David Montgomery, all names well known in the UK although possibly unheard of in the US?  Anyway.  Richie’s seemed to me to be actually better than any of those others.  And Sue’s interview, as some of you may have read in the Magazine, was so well researched and written.

Well, all that might have been that, but it wasn’t.  Over the years we kept in touch and discovered along the cyber-way that we had much more than our small dogs in common, Sue and I:  a love of making things - quilting, knitting, sewing - being the most shared between us, photographs to-ing and fro-ing across the internet, experiences exchanged, problems solved.  And yes, Calleigh and Cuba played a big part in what became a close friendship.

And then Sue got ill, and she and Richie shared that experience with me, too;  they braved this rollercoaster with unbelievably moving courage, together, supporting each other.  It’s horrible for both parties involved, and my own brave, wonderful partner, Nick, had been through similar nightmares with his own wife.  So he and Richie would communicate sometimes on what it is like to be the participating audience in this dread drama. I hope, and believe, that Nick’s medical knowledge as a neuroscientist may have helped them both over some of the hurdles of the health system.

Brave, loving, good people, Sue and Richie.  Courageous in the teeth of hellish times, Sue bore her illness with grace and elegance, with good humour and rightly-felt anger at what was happening to her but with a strength to know how to let go of that anger and cherish every moment with Richie and with Calleigh.

It says interesting things about the internet, doesn’t it, that a real friendship can flourish across oceans - I now live in Hong Kong, but the friendship has never lessened, the emails have continued, the sharing of interests went on being shared.  What could have been a fleeting ‘hello and goodbye’ turned into that real friendship.  I shall forever be grateful for having known Sue, for knowing Richie still, for seeing such courage and now for being able to celebrate her life as I try not to cry.

Tribute to Sue

Sue was active in this blog so I felt it was fitting to post. Sue has just passed and we consider her a dear friend - her husband Richard as well. Quite a bit ago, Lalla Ward created an art piece for Havanese Rescue. I had hoped to win the bid but the price went up over my budget.  I was happy for rescue.  We asked Lalla if she could do another one and we would pay. Sue said she would love to learn how to do it so we hooked her up with Lalla who she was a huge fan of  Richard was too. Lalla was kind enough to show her how to do it and Sue did this piece for us of Spice who she knew I love dearly. I am glad that I have this on my wall as it is as if Sue remains here as a memory that was filled with love.

Sue and Richard have their Havanese, Calleigh. Over time Sue filled me in on all her quirks and fun, which havanese are. She also filled me in on her own health battles. As Lynda was going through hers, Sue was also going through hers. She always cared how Lynda was doing and how I was doing with this transition in life that seems to occur. Why can't we live always? We considered both dear friends.

I am emotionally drained and my heart goes out to the family, most of all Richard, her dear husband.

2 Entries Today

Look below to see an at home entry.

Saffron loves to mess up my grooming. Got to love her.

You will see more Ellie photos in the gallery. Ellie was here for a groom and to play. Her colouring is like Kat's brother Murphy and similar to Stella too. She has the silkiest hair. She is Halle's sister - Cinnamon baby.

Dogs had a fun day and I did manage to groom all but they won't look like it - okay some will semi look at it.

After tomorrow - for a week, this blog will be lean unless I get more at home photos - hint. I have Murphy to put up tomorrow if my brain will remember. I am on overload.

Here is my week. Monday was 15 photos and do individual photos. Oh boy.

Tuesday vet visit.

Wednesday for the entire week several times a day puppy visits. Then blogs daily. Then starts the making dates for pickup and all that it takes to get everything ready for the pups to go home. This is on me - the blogger so something has to suffer. Please do understand. This is the timeframe that I literally get up and not stop and then crawl into bed falling asleep in minutes. There is a ton to do that I bet you don't think of. LOL

Blip In Theme

If you send me more photos, I will post. Make sure you tell me you want them up on the blog.I like this theme.

Here is the gallery.

Today we have Murphy gal, Kat's brother Benny here, Harlow and Brewer. It is fun crew. I am grooming like crazy and doing my dogs here and there as well. Tomorrow we get to see Ellie.

It's cool out. Need to groom. Need some cumin that Nathan doesn't seem to find so I can make salsa. He drives by Loblaws and says - nah can't do that line. If he only knew the lines I did when I was shopping staying for 3 hours or so.

Numbers are going down in Ontario - hooray. Still pockets with high numbers. I wonder how we will look back at this year. I surely miss our visitors. I truly do but no one is going away and we see only the ones for play or groom.

It's life and its curve. Have to weed more but will it get done this week? Heh not sure.
