Best Puppy in Breed for Jeannie Today

Nathan said there were no class dogs so no points for her to be had - only specials. Puppy wins bring no points just bragging rights. But he said she showed well and his only complaint is she wants to play with everyone. He also said no squeakie toys for her or she would be bouncing off the walls having fun.

I forgot to pack the grooming arm, the food and who knows what else. At least tomorrow's show is a tad later. It will just be good practice if no class dogs. That's okay too as it will get her conditioned for the Canadian and US specialty.

We are proud of the Jeannie and hope to see some class dogs at the shows. Where are all of you?

Congratulations!

How do they judge "best puppy"? What sorts of things are they graded on?

Jeannie looks a little put out that there were no class dogs there...

Shannon: Same as the rest. They just don't give points for Best Puppy but it is still an honor. Today, in our group those that won big were 3 judges that were showing their dogs and 2 big pro handlers. :-) No class dogs and I am not sure if we will have any all week though we are supposed to - just 1. If she shows up (the class dog) she is in need of just 1 point. I am hoping she gets it. She's been showing her for a long time. Even if Jeannie just gets practice, I am happy with that but she didn't show up today so who knows. I did ask if she was coming. They sometime give it to an older dog as they figure the younger one has time. It's supposed to be the best dog but they do take into consideration an older dog if it is equally nice giving it to them vs the pup.

So, if she doesn't come we are just doing practice and she doesn't have a chance at completing her championship. One year someone sat ringside with their dog knowing we had to have her show so we could complete our championship and she said the dog was sick. So why was it sitting and playing at ring side? Those things go on - so silly. Personally, I hate the shows. They just mean work to me. Nathan likes them but he also understand that it is very political. I have no patience for such and ooops I opened my mouth and he will be upset as then it will be my big mouth stating the truth that is keeping our dogs from winning. You have to play the game. I don't do such.

The shows are so political and if only judges and pros win all week long then they will not have any owner/handlers next year. The number will be down and they will say they don't understand. Enough said. She showed well. She looked good. Nathan liked seeing everyone again so that was all good. Tomorrow I get to wash her again in the morning.

I don't understand this 'no class dog' thing. I just know Jeannie looks beautiful.

Thanks, Audrey. One doesn't begin to understand why some don't show up.

The dog that best fits the Breed Standard should win. Period. Politics........it's everywhere. Like the person most qualified for a job should get it but............not so. When you KNOW the best didn't win it is very difficult to be patient and calm. Games.
Good experience for Jeannie and she looks marvelous. She has the most beautiful eyes I have ever seen!

Well Nathan heard from the person's friend that had the dogs up against Jeannie that she didn't bring them as she was afraid she would lose so a no point day again. Cute. This woman avoided Nathan and here I was genuinely hoping she beat Jeannie so she got her last point and we have games like that. She was showing her other breed. So she couldn't pretend she was sick I gather. Oh well a practice. Now to outdoor shows - no van but a little car and no tarp except holes in it. Told Nathan he needs new tarps. He thinks he is going to overlap and pray for no rain. You can't groom in a little car. We had to rent as the air is gone and the part won't be in till next week. Always something. :-(

Let us all pray for no rain. Good luck Jeannie & Nathan.
Shows can be a political challenge. It has nothing to do with the dogs.

Well Nathan said it is pouring rain. I hope he brought a change of clothes as it will be interesting for everyone. Raining here too. I am rather tired of the rain. My weeds love it!
