Pups will be 2 weeks old tonight and the gal with the collar indeed has her eyes open. The boy wants to open his eyes. The mostly white one has squint eyes so it is happening. I won't get photos till tomorrow as Nathan is away and won't be back till late tonight. It is something to look forward to.
I am rather tired. This take a nap here and there makes you terminally tired but we do what we need to. :-)

I enjoyed every one of them. I noticed that the whelping box is closed in some of the night Zzzs videos. I assume that Jeannie is outside the box during that time. Forgive me, you might have already mentioned something about this in other blogs. Is that so that they can get used to sleeping without mom? I love watching Jeannie play with them. Can't wait to see them play more once they all have their eyes open.
I close the whelping box after each feeding so she is not feeding them nonstop. This allows her to cool off, eat and sleep with me till she needs to clean and/or eat. She is often on the couch looking in and watching. This helps mom to replenish her milk and allows sleep in-between for the human and canine. If I didn't then the mostly white one would be eating the least and the other 2 eating the bulk of all the milk.
It makes sense but so much to think about!
These pups look chubby and well fed. Nice to hear that they will soon be exploring their environment with another sense soon.
When I left her in 24/7 she wasn't eating properly nor was the pups allowing the white one to gain sufficiently as 2 would eat all the milkbars and leave nothing for her. Jeannie was in till about 7 days old 24/7 - even fed in the whelping box. She just came out to relieve herself. New moms do not know how to create balance for them or the pups. It is important for all moms - canine and humans to have balance. If pups are feeding all the time mom or pups are not sleeping sufficiently. They are also depleting the milk source and having to feed more often. If they are regulated they sleep longer and they gain more weight. It is in sleep that they gain. The more active they are the more energy they expel. Many just leave their moms in and just let them sort itself out but I find moms are happier, pups are gaining more and the human also gets more sleep between. Of course many do not monitor the pups like we do. They go to work. They sleep the night. She also can hang out at the top of the whelping box as the couch I sleep on is right next to it. This way she can watch as can I and she does this. Jeannie still gets to watch, cuddle, clean, feed and not be overheated. When they get older at 4 plus weeks and is without mom all night we can watch it on the ipad and listen as well. This gives them a perception of independence with the reality of being monitored. It all helps in getting them to make transitions easier to new homes etc
