4 Weeks and 3 Days Old

This little one is getting her nails done. Here is the video. Plus here is the gallery. They first ate solids and then they had their nails done.

As they are older we had to wait a few days before they tried solids but there is no hard and fast rule about when they try solids. Due to their digestion system developing you like to wait till 4 weeks but if we had pups that were not gaining due to insufficient milk coming in on mom we would try earlier. Later is not an issue as long as weight gain is still there. You do want them standing, if possible. Usually a lack of weight gain is an indicator they need solids. They were not at this point. It's just time to get them to be a bit independent. Tomorrow we will have a play session out of their xpen. We do things spread out to help them get conditioned positively to changes.
How did they do? Everyone did really well. Everyone ate in both litters. Some just ate more than others and some went back for more without any prompting after waking up.
As growth occurs, their ability to hold more food allows them to sleep longer. From the moment theu go upstairs without their moms they start the process of sleeping longer till they are sleeping in till 7am before they depart.

Such little darlings! So very sweet.
Oh Darlah, I loved the nail cutting videos. Radar and I watched them together. He is very interested in a lot things on the TV and the computer. Patches, on the other hand, isn't. Although, when Adele's first pup gave a little yelp, Patches got up and looked right at Radar and came to sniff him to make sure he was ok. It was a wonderful experience to see her making sure he was alright. She does that often when we are on walks. If another dog we don't know approaches she gives a very low growl until she knows there is nothing to worry about and Radar is safe. She never did this before Radar joined our family. She is truly a big sister to him.
Back to the video, I would love to kiss all those puppies like Nathan and you do, what fun and so heartwarming.
Just watched the videos again..... I am so jealous of Nathan!!! He gets to kiss ALL those warm puppies!!!!!!!!!!! What a group.
