2 Updates Today

I think the Jeannie pups are co-conspirators and/or are just plain smart. This week Jeannie taught them a game and I consider this genius and yes she taught HER pups. She wants a toy out of their pen and they literally push it up against the railings. She barks at one of them when they happen to have a toy she desires and they bring it to her and she pulls it out between the bars. At first I thought it was a fluke or just one of her pups being extra nice with mom but over the last few days Dennis and I have caught the process in action. They will even do it with a treat. This morning I caught her with 3 treats on the outside of the pen and each treat was from her pups. I happen to have caught the last transfer and went no, Jeannie. You already had YOUR treat.

So who is smarter? Mom or pups?

It is the first litter that has ever done this. I have not seen Adele's pups do this with Jeannie and they don't do it with Adele but she doesn't ask for THEIR treats.

Just had to share as Dennis was completely surprised too. It all started out with Dennis going how did that toy get out of the pen? He sets up the pen daily so he knows what is in there. He actually thought at first till he saw it too that I was giving them their toys.

Here is today's gallery.

Check out the videos here.

It is amazing. They have instincts beyond belief. I would love to see that on a video haha

I am trying to catch it when she starts instead of catching it midstream. I wish I could tell Jeannie, I have the video on. You now do your thing. haha I have the camera ready but when you are ready they won't cooperate. I want to catch it so I can send it to a friend who is a scientist animal behaviorist. As this is the first time I have seen this is any litter, I would love to get it taped.

How many litters has Jeanie had? What a smart mom and amazing puppies to figure this out. I always knew your dogs and pups where incredible, but this is just awesome. Hope you share on facebook. I really want to buy one of your puppies.

Now, Patches (a Jeannie pup) does bark at Radar when she wants her chew stick that he has grabbed and taken into his house. But, Mum retrieves it, Radar does not return it.

But, Patches will bark at Radar for a toy and to move over on the couch/bed and he does that. Jeannie pups are truly incredible and real communicators.

The story you told about the treats is absolutely amazing.

That is amazing. I hope you catch that on video.
I have a Jeannie pup and have to say that I think Dallas is very smart. A little biased? Maybe.

Jeannie is a great mom and you have captured on video many examples of her playing with her pups and teaching them in the process.
I am still amazed at her getting her pups to co-operate with her requests.

Yes, amazing, but I am not at all surprised when you actually see their brains at work. Farley tried coming in the door with a long stick in his mouth. I watched him, step by step, as he tried different methods leading him to figure out that if he put the stick down and placed it vertically in front of the opening, he could enter the house and go back and pull it through. I video taped him doing it three times, and each time he perfected the technique. ... a lot of large sticks end up in the house! (He was quite young when he did this)
He also learned things very quickly by watching Clarity.

Christine, I think that many Havanese love sticks. Kona has to take one with him on his walks incase he does not find a new stick.
Havs seem to love learning and challenge.

That's just too funny ! Likewise Kona taking a stick on his walks !
