Guess Who Thinks She's Boss

Jeannie tried to control Simba and Zoe's play. She wasn't successful but she did try.

Zoe was amazing how she corrected and ignored Jeannie when she was being bossy.

Jeannie's Squeeze

This is a no photo day but just know Jeannie can fit through all gates and does then lets you know she wants out again. Okay, you got in that room find your way out. :-)

She's been more active than most running Zoe and Simba around. I swear Zoe thinks Simba is a small schanauzer as he has the eyebrows like her and she likes him in a big way. It's a riot to see but then Jeannie says - no he's all mine. Zoe ignores her but oh she does try!

Jeannie's Out of the Bottle

Someone used that term that Jeannie is now out of the bottle. I guess she is.

She was playing hard and I am amazed at her stamina.

One would think a puppy of her age would conk out and she looked like she was going to at one moment and then she perked back up again.

Is she going to keep us on our toes.

Good news she is now playing nice with Cha Cha. When Cha Cha came in the door she thought oh I can boss her around. No, that's not your job, young lady. Once she realized that the play came. It's nicer not being the boss.

When Daddy is gone we start doing some serious training. It's going to be fun for me - hopefully for her too.

What's New

Not much new today. Jeannie continues to meet and greet every human that darkens this door and we have many. It's all good for her.

She also is continuing her socialization with many dogs. We may not be able to do handling classes with her this week coming up with the specialty etc but we will start after Nathan is back and then of course she has classes for obedience.

She continues to have a bold attitude but that is tempered elsewhere - but here.... well let's just say she will be in the thick of things and keeping up at the playdate tomorrow. You just watch.

Ms. Jeannie's Day

Ms. Jeannie decided to not use a pad so we are going back to square one. This sometimes happens and it can be more difficult when it is raining but she doesn't mind the rain. So we go back to watching very closely and getting her outside frequently. I am telling you this as you need to know this can happen and to avoid it you must be all over them to condition them to your house. Jeannie had a doggie door at her house that she used so our home is different. We will get there.

Jeannie doesn't mind the rain one bit. She had some lead training today and she had a ton of time outside and meeting new humans. It was a busy day for her - all good.

Went to a Vet Visit

Jeannie had an uneventful trip to the vets. Realize our vet is far so and hour and 15 minutes there and the same back - no accidents and when she got home she went and went and went.

She had her shots without a peep. Everything is looking good. She even seemed to enjoy the car ride in this crate.

Last night Nathan also practiced training with her and for a first on the lead experience, she was great.

She really has amazing focus when it comes to Nathan and its nice. We have also found she loves the puffy part of the popcorn. We practice come and oh boy she got that for a treat - fast!

I bet she loves all treats. We will continue to try.

We have Zoe visiting and wow they are a riot together. As Zoe is a non Havanese with a different temperament and way to play, I was wondering how this would work with the Jeannie. I knew the others would figure it out with my help but there is a significant size difference between these two.

Well, sometimes Jeannie is in hot pursuit of Zoe and other times Zoe is chasing her but doing it in a way not to frighten but pretend she is really trying to catch her. It's as if she knows she is a baby and treats her accordingly but of course Jeannie thinks she is all grown up and plays to win. :-)

This is great for Jeannie and for Zoe.

It's also great for me to watch.

Conditioning

Jeannie went to handling class last night but wasn't able to walk on the ground as she hasn't had all her shots yet.

She did have some training on the table and that went rather well.

In the class were all large dogs including a very large Leonberger and irish wolfhound. I think the very large dogs tend to throw her off. She wasn't bad but you could tell they were somethig new and that she needs some conditioning to the extra big type. This is NORMAL and that's why we do conditioning. You may get a shake or a growl - all signs that they are unsettled. The more they are positively conditioned the better their coping skills become.

This process should be seen as an adventure for you and your dog - a fun one and at times for some dogs a challenge but one that can be achieved. Expose, expose, expose in a positive way and you will like the result.

Tomorrow we head to the vet. Last night Jeannie traveled in a sherpa bag. Tomorrow she will travel to the vets in a hard crate. She may fuss. She may not but all good conditioning.

First Handling Class

This will be Jeannie's first handling class. She can't be walked around with a lead as she hasn't had her shots but she will sit on the sidelines, watch the dogs - get the exposure. Maybe I will bring a towel for the table so she can practice a stack. We shall see.

If she does practice we will take a photo or two.

On Thursday she goes for her shots - so a long car ride back and forth, lots of vet noises - all good.

Then at the end of the month she starts classes.

PS: She is a huge treat hound so she is going to be fun to train.

7 Days

Jeannie has been with us for a solid week. She's had the odd accident. We have watched and corrected and taken her out or to the pad.

She embraces life as a playground.

She has been exposed to many and as soon as she has her shots she will start doing lead training and going on walks. She will also be attending handling and obedience classes as we believe in exposure to dogs of all sizes and types plus a variety of people and nosises and car conditioning.

She is very much a Daddy gal. Oh she loves spending time with me but Daddy shoots the moon so to speak.

She is getting daily combing and brushing and I am placing her on her back to do her tummy. She's getting used to it and loves the treat at the end. She 'gets' the treats in a big way. She also recognizes her name now no matter where you are when you call her.

Here are some photos today of her outside playing with Roxie, playing with Abigail and checking out the pups. Now that she is in the sewing some oats stage as I feel mighty comfie she is being a bit much for the pups in her play so we allow but temper it if she gets too rough. We stop her play and she is getting it slowly that they are not up to playing that way. She holds her own all the way across the board with the adults. I do believe she thinks she is already an adult. hahahahaha

Frisbee Take 2

Jeannie is doing rather well with this Frisbee game.

She now brings it back over half the time without a treat. She is getting it!

She continues to eat with gusto, play her little heart out and embrace life with fun being the goal.

Today we had some people over that loved playiong with her. She has had so much exposure to many humans and dogs and it has just begun.

Tuesday Panda goes to handling class and so will Jeannie. She won't be walking around but it will be more exposure as she hasn't had her 2nd shot yet.

She goes on Thursday for her vet checkup and shots and then she will start obedience classes I hear with Timmy. She will also start going to handling class weekly. When her pedigree arrives, we will register her and get her into some sanction matches and baby puppy classes to get her practice for when she is 6 months and can start getting points towards her championship. It's going to be a fun ride with this one!

Here are today's photos. Can you tell Nathan is smitten? I think he loves this one more than me. :-)
