Rose Bushes

She is pruning them in winter - oh my so that means next year I will have to buy new rose bushes. <sigh> None seem to be scared.

I actually have some faves. Oh well, they are ONLY rose bushes. hahahaha I still love her!

If you clip the stem of the roses off at the bite points to make it neat you can cover with a little bit of fleece fabric and string. This should help them through the winter.
I did this with mine as Havanese seem to favour anything plant like with chewy properties.

If I recall correctly, Jeannie loved to prune your shrubs as well. It must be the European influence.

I must be really fortunate as Laci has never chewed on anything other than her Bullwrinkles. My last dog was the same. One before was a challenge w/ chords, etc. She got into tons. But after puppy stage, it passed. Diversion and omitting seems to work for us.

Debi: She's just a typical pup. She just loves to chew. You are right - distraction and filling that mouth helps.

Mo: In another life I was a master gardener but I will tell you covering my rose bushes only make them targets for the dogs. I learned that long ago. I also just never get around to mounding them. Most times they survive but with this winter pruning by the dogs I doubt they will this year. I have my faves too. :-(
