Puppies Are Here: Video Added

Click on Photo for Larger ViewFirst one is a boy, a dark brown sable. Born at 446am (yes I was up all night). He weighs 6-7/8oz - 197g.

We also lost 1. It never took a breath. It was large and was not moving when it came out. It is why she had a tough time getting it out. It was a mostly white with one black streak on its eye. RIP. It was not meant to be. It is stress-filled and sad. One asks why I always have anxiety before a birth. This is why. It is rare but it happens and it does and it kills us. Enough said. We need to celebrate the living.

Click on Photo for Larger ViewI am calling this the 2nd born as it was born moving. It's a boy and another brown sable. He was born at 6:15am weighing 6-1/2oz - 187 grams.

Click on Photo for Larger ViewThe 3rd was born at 7am weighing 6-1/2oz - 187grams

Next one born is another boy. He is the smallest so far weighing in at 5-5/8oz - 161grams. He is a brown sable with a white partial collar.

Click on Photo for Larger View4th born is another boy born at 822am weighing 6-5/8oz - 190g.

All pups were breech. It was a not fun delivery.

Click on Photo for Larger ViewHere are the 4 beauties - all boys - sorry folks but they are stunning and all eating. Look at that tail on the last born.

I have not eaten nor slept all night. Dennis has not slept as he was up with the Adele pups. Nathan slept till 4am. I am hungry, excited, sad all rolled into a package.

Congratulations! Beautiful puppies. Sad about loosing one though but as you said, it wasn't meant to be. Hope all continues to go well.

Beautiful boys, such rich colours. So sorry for your loss.

October 9, 2015 | Unregistered CommenterShannon

Dear Darlah and Roxie,
Good Morning and congratulations on your beautiful puppies.
So sorry to hear about the loss of a puppy, it never gets easy does it.
Would you say the litter is complete now or do you think there is more to come?
The pups seem to all be a good size even though the one is a little smaller than the others.

October 9, 2015 | Unregistered Commentergrace

Congratulations on the birth of such beautiful puppies. And hugs to all for the loss. Mother Nature may know best, but it is still so difficult.

October 9, 2015 | Unregistered CommenterGerda

Congratulations on another beautiful litter! Looks like sables really are prevalent in Roxie's line. So sorry to hear about the loss.

October 9, 2015 | Unregistered CommenterCaroline and Holly

Congratulations on your beautiful pups, Roxie, and the whole Talemaker crew. Tears for the lost little one. RIP little soul. Here's to the living gaining and growing into wonderful, healthy, and happy little munchkins. Can't wait to see you running and having fun with Adele's pups soon.

Beautiful puppies!!

October 9, 2015 | Unregistered CommenterMichelle

Congratulations to all on a beautiful litter ! I share your pain for your loss but yes, we must focus on the living and I'm so glad they look so healthy. Looking forward to seeing them grow !

October 9, 2015 | Unregistered CommenterMaureen

Gerda: So true and now to convince Nathan of this. You can't save one that doesn't come out alive. But he surely tried.

Grace: She was supposed to have 5. She did. 4 living. She is done. I hate whelpings like this. Each came out breech and not coming out quick enough. Roxie has had easy deliveries till this. But she is well. She has not had sleep and these pups are beautiful.

I am a dead person - meaning beyond tired. :-(

October 9, 2015 | Registered CommenterDarlah

So sorry for the loss, but relieved that Roxie is well and she has four beautiful boys. I hope Roxie, and you Darlah, can get some well deserved rest now.

October 9, 2015 | Unregistered CommenterHolly

Hi Darlah, Nathan and Roxie.
CONGRATULATIONS!
So sad about the dead puppy! Made me cry! At least Roxie, unlike human moms doesn't really know about it or realise it! And she has 4 other GORGEOUS puppies to make her happy. Maybe, since they were all breech and difficult that is why she was nesting, etc for so long.

Do happy she loves the bed and blanket I gave you! Love that picture!

Congratulations once again from me and Katie (Roxie's daughter from another litter)
Katie says 'way to go mom!'

Ruth

Wow. Adele had it so much easier than poor Roxie! And it was Adele's first. If I'm not mistaken all of Adele's were born quite quickly ( a couple of hours?) And her labour started quite quickly after her temp dropped and she didn't nest for long!? Am I right?

October 9, 2015 | Unregistered Commenterruth shinder

Ruth: She knows. She said her goodbye.

Yes Adele had an easier delivery. So did Roxie previously. First time we had every single pup breech.

October 9, 2015 | Registered CommenterDarlah

I do believe that Roxie knows. They have such instinct. She has beautiful pups and as Nathan told me when I chose Rusty. Boys love unconditionally (or something like that) and I can tell you they certainly do. (Rusty is our first male pup and we love him to pieces and so happy we have HIM) Rusty is from Roxie's last litter. She had a BEAUTIFUL litter then and again now. These little puppies are precious as all our little ones are. Darlah I hope you ae now getting some rest or soon will. Nathan you are a wonderful, sensitive guy as is Darlah and we all know you guys go beyond your very best. You have to be proud of the beautiful pups. Talemaker puppies are truly the most loved and THE BEST! Roxie stay well.

October 9, 2015 | Unregistered CommenterRonnie

I am very tired so if I don't make sense - I apologize. I know people wanted girls so maybe the next litters. Sorry about that. Not many girls, I am afraid. It happens.

October 9, 2015 | Registered CommenterDarlah

Congratulations Darlah, and so sorry for your loss, I know every single one should be heart breaking, but better now than latter...
Boys rule!!!... PJ is the most lovable and clever puppy ever and we are so happy we have him, so I am sure there are 4 families that will be very lucky with these cute little ones.
Hope you and Roxie can catch some rest soon!

October 9, 2015 | Unregistered CommenterAdriana, Lucy and PJ

Darlah I know I said it before but really it is so easy having a boy. When he was fixed it was easier, he is a softy and cuddly and loving and not as independent as some of the girls can be and ever since Rusty was neutered he doesn't pee to mark his territory. Easy to train. He is the perfect dog and all my biases about "must have a female" are gone. We couldn't have gotten a better puppy. Please people choose your puppy for the personality that will suit you, not the sex when deciding on who you will take to your forever home.

October 9, 2015 | Unregistered CommenterRonnie

Adriana and Ronnie I agree with you, Boys Rule.
My Kona is a most loving affectionate friendly boy.
I feel that once they are neutered, it does not matter
what sex they are.
I hope that Roxie is able to get some rest and recover from
the long birthing process. Her 4 boys look beautiful.
I shed some tears about the lost pup.

Try to get some rest Darlah and Nathan.

October 9, 2015 | Unregistered CommenterKathy & Kona

That is truly a tough night. Congratulation on the boys and my condolences on your little girl. It is heartbreaking losing one.

October 9, 2015 | Unregistered CommenterJudy McGrath

Or as we call the boys (Trigger and Levon) at my house: Team Penis!

October 9, 2015 | Unregistered CommenterShannon

I have been reading what everyone is saying about having a boy and reading other sources. You're right, Ronnie, sometimes we have "a girl bias" for the wrong reasons. I think we now don't care which sex it is as long as Patches loves the pup. And, I have always heard that when having two it is more advantageous to have one boy and one girl. They get along better I've always been told.

October 9, 2015 | Unregistered CommenterAngela and Patches

Meant to mention the fourth one reminds me of Patches! :-)

October 9, 2015 | Unregistered CommenterAngela and Patches

To all those who thought they only wanted a girl: I agree with everyone above who has a boy. If (when?) we get a second one, we would hope for a boy again. But then again, both sexes are wonderful so it really shouldn't matter in the end. Any Talemaker pup is worth having, regardless of the sex. Good girl Roxie, I hope you are resting now. You did well, so did your human parents.

October 9, 2015 | Unregistered CommenterAnne and Cooper

Judy: all boys - even the one deceased. It's Boys Season. It happens.

#4 what markings - rather like them.

October 9, 2015 | Registered CommenterDarlah

Anne: Did brush out Cooper today but sorry I couldn't line comb him. I am barely functioning. I did get 2 hours sleep now to last till 11pm so Dennis can do night duty.

October 9, 2015 | Registered CommenterDarlah

Amen to the comments about boys! Ours is sweet and loving, loves to snuggle, but he is also very playful. And his best dog pals happen to be boys.
Four breech births has to be some kind of (unfortunate) record. So stressful for all of you to deal with this plus a stillbirth, and all night besides. But the 4 healthy pups are beautiful.

October 9, 2015 | Unregistered CommenterEllen

Darlah, Cooper looked wonderful when we picked him up, as always. I hope you get a good night sleep tonight. Just watched the video, wow, those newborn pups sure are moving. Their colours are beautiful.

October 9, 2015 | Unregistered CommenterAnne and Cooper

What a bittersweet experience for you. The boys are beautiful and Roxie was a trooper. Thinking of you all.

October 9, 2015 | Unregistered CommenterSherry S

I just end wanted to add my congratulations to everyone. Also, I would like to add my condolences to the many that you have already received. I was thinking that today's loss is a way of reminding us how to be thankful. How fitting that this weekend is Thanksgiving. I am thankful that Roxie was able to get through the labour and deliver 5 breech puppy babies, which must have been truly scary. Let's be grateful that we get to watch the "boys" grow and enjoy all the fun moments ahead.
I am the proud human Mom of two wonderful havanese sons! Leo and Frankie are the most loving and affectionate dogs . They are always by your side ( whether you like it or not!) . We absolutely love Frankie and Leo and do not understand the gender issue at all. As a matter of fact we requested a male dog when Spice's puppies were being matched up with families. Male or female the havanese breed is amazing and either is a wonderful addition to any family!

Hope that everyone will be able to get some well deserved rest and as always l look forward to future posts.

October 9, 2015 | Unregistered CommenterMary

I have to tell everyone, my bias was 100% towards boys ... And then I was blessed with Clarity! Clarity is just as cuddly, affectionate and loving as both my boys were. the sex doesn't determine the personality and more than the colour does.
Congratulations, Roxie, on your beautiful puppies!
