Comfort

Click on Photo for Larger View

These pups are all about comfort in a big way and they really like these pads. I need to learn how to make my own as they are not cheap. We use them for crate pads too.

Pups are really active and can crawl across the whelping pen with no issue. Roxie remains amazing. One has to make sure you focus on her too as she wants for nothing. So they get many hugs, grooming, massages, special foods. Moms are queens and don't they know it.

This sounds crazy but between feedings we also get them outside to get fresh air and a different frame of mind. I want them to have balance. Its only a few minutes here and there but it is important. It woudl be to me.

The gal now weighs 11.85 and the boy weighs 11.30. They get close in weight then further apart and then close too. Funny how the cream one of Panda's also is a huge eater too.

3 Days Old: Photos Added

Pups are doing really well. They are plump little things. Roxie needs no help in getting them to feed.

Here are the weights today.

Girl:

10.75oz 305 grams

Boy:

10.40oz 296 grams

Hardly any different. They crawl all over the whelping box. Its wonderful to watch.

Click on Photo for a Larger ViewClick on Photo for a Larger ViewClick on Photo for a Larger ViewDifference between Panda and Roxie's white one is Roxie's is cream and Panda's appears to be white so far. Good thing one is a boy and one is gal. If they do end up being the same color you will be able to easily tell.

One time we had a Risa litter and 2 were virtually the same except for a slight amount of extra white on the leg. They grew up looking the same too. I could tell but it threw others off.

2 Days Old: More Added

Roxie is doing amazing. She's a dream mom truly. She takes care of them, cleans them. If they make a noise she is right there and she has a ton of milk.

Click on Photo for Larger ViewWe will do better photos later. Right now Panda is in labor so our focus is on that. It's a beautiful snowy day. The pups have the light on them (vitamin d) which is important.

Today's weigh in is

Girl

9.45oz - 267 grams

Up since birth

2.05oz  - 56 grams

Gain in 24 hours

1.25oz - 35 grams

Boy

8.85oz - 251 grams

Up since birth

2.35oz - 67 grams

Gain in 24 hours

1.20oz - 34 grams

As you can see weight gain is head to head. They are doing really well!

Click on Photos for Larger ViewRoxie is amazing how attentive she is to her duo. She cleans them up spotless.

Click on Photos for Larger ViewShe is also a bit spoiled as all moms deserve to be. Well, I think so! She likes to scrunch up the blankets so her pups can snuggle in. It seems to be instinctive. But she has her fave blankets. There are some that are not soft and she throws them out of her xpen - no lie. Okay Miss Princess only the best for your duo.

She also pushes her dish out of the way and hides it if she doesn't like the food. If it times out I will get nathan to get some schwarma for us and for the girls. See where all the money goes...dawgs and we do love them so!

24 Hours Old Wow

Click on Photo for Larger View

Mommy says I need a brush out yet again. Have I been busy with the pups all night?

Pups are now

Girl

Birth: 7.40oz 211grams Now: 8.20oz 233grams

Gain in 24 hours: .80oz .22grams

Boy

Birth: 6.50oz 184grams Now: 7.65oz 217grams

Gain in 24 hours: 1.15oz .33grams

As you can see the boy is gaining more than the gal but how it will all unfold who knows. Gains are great in the 1st 24 hours as they usually lose in 24-48 hours the start gaining.

Here are some photos taken this morning.

They are wonderful to hold! Now off to brushing everyone out and getting those ready to go home ready.

Many Updates: Data Added

I want to frame this photo. This blanket is Roxie's favorite and it is VERY VERY soft. But I am not sure who gave it to us - sorry. If it was you, please let us know so I can get some more. I have had several blanket change outs which is normal as mom has discharge at this stage but this one she snuggled right into and so did the pups. Its the softest we have ever felt.

Roxie had a pee outdoors (great sign). Pups have done both - another great sign. They are eating then sleeping between. That is what happens when you have pups of size.

Roxie has also eaten a ton since this morning.

Waiting for a couple of drop offs and then I will feed the Mommy's to be - what in a few days? Oh boy!

Think I am so tired and hungry. But I am so elated at the mom Roxie is. Hooray!

Roxie, Resting, Cleaning

Roxie was amazing. Check out the gallery of resized but not edited photos. Sorry - some can be graphic but fascinating like the head shot of the boy with his front foot up against his head.

Roxie took us for a ride of no sleep. But when it came down to it no c-section and not even a noise or complaint even though that first one it was hard to get the shoulders out. The next one was easier as he is a tad smaller but both pups are of the larger size. That doesn't mean they will be as adults.

Roxie had a quick bath of her backend. A high velocity dryer blows the water out. They don't like it but I use it for moments like this where time is a factor. Actually this is the only time I use it and then I finish with the regular dryers. This way they are not crawling through discharge.

Roxie has had cheese, ice cream, a bowl of food but has not had a potty break. This is normal. She needs some rest but all she wants to do is clean and kiss them up. Then she takes short naps.

Nathan is sleeping. I am fried and won't sleep till tonight. I may have to get caffeine in me. hehe

We have Panda and Spice due in 4 days. You go Roxie for waiting so the pups were all around the same age. Yeah Valentine's Day would have been nice but the way you delivered - bravo!

The cream is truly a creamy gal with the same tan as Leti. She has a gorgeous head. Sylvia's right the tri boy is very similar in markings to Bella. He is beautiful. They both are...

Pups are already eating then sleeping and trying to stay warm. It's hot in this room but Roxie needs to stop moving to dote over them so they can truly get sleep and stay under the heat lamp.

I am hungry but can't leave them but looks like tomorrow I have to figure it out as I have baths to do and Nathan is at the show at least till early afternoon. We thought we were safe as pups were not due till the 20th and lo and behold Roxie surprises us.

Nesting: No News

This is the longest stage of labor - stage 1. It generally lasts six to eighteen hours. When temp drops considerably, to 98-99° puppies should present themselves within 24 hours. Roxie has been at 98.6/98.5 since last night at 930pm.

She will be hungry when the pups come as she is hardly eating. This is normal. Pups have dropped - meaning their position has changed but they have not moved down.

She doesn't do anything by the book so we shall see how it all unfolds. :-)

-------------

Will take off No NEWS off the title when she starts having contractions. It hasn't happened yet. I think she is waiting for Panda. hahahaha Forget about Nathan. Nathan is at the show again tomorrow but there very late. I am very tired so if its not tonight I hope I get sleep.
