The Stick: Video Added

Oh they had fun with this huge stick larger than them all and it made its way inside. Then we put it back outside. It was fun trying and we did allow you the fun of it all.

Got a video of their inside and outside play. I am still doing a lot to get the pups ready to depart but inbetween we are having a blast!

Odin Departs

Odin departs but comes back to visit during the day Thursday.

Click on Photo for Larger ViewI see Nathan took an artsy type photo. I like it. Before Odin went home he got to play with Katie and Buddy. You will have to catch a photo of Katie to see what trouble she was up to. heh

Click on Photo for Larger ViewWe are going to try to get another photo of this duo when he returns on Thursday for his play day.

While human mom and dad was doing paperwork Katie decided to have some fun. Check it out.

Yes, she got up there on her own. What a mighty agile and smart dog you are. :-)

The rest of the crew is quiet but soon they will be outside playing up a storm.

Odin's Bath

Click on Photo for Larger View

Look who is silvering out at the roots.

Click on Photo for Larger ViewHow did Odin do in the bath? He had fun. I have to laugh.

Click on Photo for Larger ViewHe cleans up quite nicely and you can see the silver at his roots.

Click on Photo for Larger ViewThe 2 tris are looking so much like Kat. If always wanted a girl like Kat. Here I have 2 boys that look strikingly like him. One is Pandas - one is Roxies.

Odin was great for the bath. I am not sure he wanted to be strung up for photos as he kept holding his head up in the air but otherwise he was great.

We are down to 10 and tomorrow down to 9 - wow. Miss them already!

Can We?

Can we come out to play? We love being with the humans and the other dogs too. Is it time yet? This is the crew this morning waiting to play and have fun. They know getting a sherpa bag means they get out and go.

Our son, daughter-in-law and grand daughter are coming to visit on the 8th. Maybe we will be using the xpens for her after the pups are gone. We shall see.

I will miss the pups but every now and then it is nice to have the livingroom back and not just watch tv in the tv room with the dogs.

Can't wait to see Roxie swimming this year. Just wish it was summer already.

Feeding

The pups are now eating 3 times a day with nothing at night. They eat first thing. They eat around noon and then at 6pm. They eat heartily. They seem to be adjusting to no food during the night as they should. They play hard. They sleep deep. Thewy are happy, happy pups.

On Deck Fun

Although I took video today I don't have time - sorry but just know they had a BLAST today. They were running and jumping. Wow I am so amazed at how agile they are. The pups all depart soon so if you do not have your date in - please send mail to Nathan. I have to have everything ready for the right day.

It can't be that time already - sigh....

Purpose

I worried about Roxie and motherhood. She is a tiny gal but so is our Fiona. She acted as if she was still immature at 2 and so did Panda. It was why we waited till they were 2.5 years old. Its not just about age but maturity level. In many ways Panda was more mature than Roxie. Roxie is a pure play monkey.

But just like Panda she embraced motherhood and I have to say both really enjoyed having beings to care for. It tells you a lot about their giving nature.

Throughout this entire experience they never complained. They wanted to be with their pups and they smiled throughout the experience even when it was obvious they were exhausted. They relished the extra treats and food. They loved the massages and the snuggles but most of all they loved us ooohing and ahhhhing over their pups. I am lucky to have 2 first time moms that coddled, loved and taught the pups. I am also lucky to have a friend like Lynda that shares the Panda with us and loves the Roxie as if she is her own.

The moms even though they are first timers are starting to realize the pups no longer need to feed from them. They can explore and play and they don't have to be with them every second. It is a healthy transition. There is no mistake they adore them but they have watched other pups depart and they know. If we are lucky enough to have visits they will relish the play just like Spice still does when she sees her pups.

Will we do this again with Roxie and Panda - absolutely. I just adore these pups.

Feeding and Play

What a good girl. When we woke up this morning every output was on the pad. They are getting to know what the pad is about. It makes clean up much easier. Tonight they will be going without food all night so output will be before bed. This is the transition so they can go all night without food when they go home. Everything is done in stages with a goal in mind. Their last feeding will be 7pm. This way its 12 hours without food. Then in a few days we will change it to 6pm and then 5pm.

Here is a video taken to show you what the pups are doing. All are managing to go in and out the doorway.

Weaned

This is the first 24 hours that the pups have not had mother's milk. Mom's have started to reduce their food intake to help their milk supply disappear. It will be an adjustment. They have enjoyed an immense amount of food. But they will adjust.

After pups depart hopefully the pool will be open (fat chance but we can dream) and we can then start getting moms like Roxie swimming. She ADORES swimming. We keep the moms very busy after pups depart so they enjoy the other things life has in store for them.

It wil be a transition for everyone but a fun one for the new families and eventually for the moms when they realize they are moms without responsibilities. There are perks to life without responsibilities. heh
