First Night

Click on Photo for Larger ViewIt's only 3am and I am waiting for 7am so I can go to sleep. Wish I had ear plugs as its hard to sleep during the day at this house.

Our son Jon came upstairs just a bit ago to see Adele's pups and she rolled on her back for a belly rub and was grinning from ear to ear showing off her pups. I can't believe how delighted she is at her little packages of joy.

Click on Photo for Larger ViewWe will try to do head shots in the next day or two. It depemds on how I recover after no sleep. hahaha Right now I am on a high so excited about the pups and that they are doing so well and mom is so happy about them - bonus!

Click on Photo for Larger ViewI am hoping Momma Adele gets some sleep as she needs it.

Click on Photo for Larger ViewShe is so attentive. What a delight!

After she gave birth to her litter, I had to wash her back end, tail and legs off. I do this as quickly as possible so she can get back to her pups. She has already been outside to do her business. So far no cleanup. Usually at this stage you clean them each time they go out. You can't live them wet as you don't want the pups chilled. So far she is staying clean.

Here is the gallery I promised.

Adele Loving Her Pups First Night

Adele's First Litter Eating and Resting

Less Than 12 Hours Old

Resting and Eating

Adele is sleeping at the moment and so are the pups. That is the benefit of having larger pups as they rest in-between vs. feeding constantly. They gain better with rest between. I am glad they are sleeping. I wish I was. hahahaha

All pups are defecating. That means their bodies are working.

It is normal for the pups to lose the first 24 hours but then they should start to gain. Usually I am weighing them frequently as they are smaller but I won't weigh this crew till morning. Well, I couldn't help myself. I weighed them at 345am out of curiousity. All seem to have slightly gained. Good one!

Well, I never got to the baby consignment shop to get a couple of comforters. Best laid plans.

Looks like we have September pups all born on the same day and Roxie will have October pups.

Oh darn looks like Adele is only taking short naps.

Such rich colours. They look pretty active in the first video. I laughed toward the end as she's cleaning them and she has the one puppy's back end up in the air! Lol.

A belly rub in the midst of all of this! Actually you and Nathan deserve a belly rub too. Does Roxie react to all of this in a special way?

My darn Internet had problems and wouldn't connect after the 2nd pup. Thought I'd have to wait until I got to the office for updates. So beautiful and just amazing that you share all these special times with us. Adele, you are a wonderful dog and now mommy! Such beautiful pups! I feel your pride!

Congratulations Adele. You are rightly so proud. Each one is so pecious and Beautiful. I am glad they are doing so well. Talemaker you are so caring for the moms. Congratulations Talemaker you have done it again. Looking forward to the days ahead. Seems pups are born in the Fall. That is something for me to look forward to in this cold weather.

You seem to have such loving Moms. I have a theory this is due to all the love you give to them, individually as well as a group. You show them how to care and nurture their young far before they have their own. Bravo, Darlah and Nathan, all your work, love and caring shines through.
