Keika's Bath Before Home

Well, Keika decided she wasn't going to be bathed so I said I think you are. She was a riot. Drying was easier as she had a tendon to munch on while I dried her. I think these pups are VERY smart and they know a bath means they go. It's not that going is a bad thing. They just don't know what going is or probably it's more like disappearing to them. Here are her photos from her bath.

It will be interesting to see how River and Stone react. I do believe it is easier to be one of the first than to hang around till the end. It is what it is but it does appear that way. They just seem to be not sure what is going on and if they stay extra they bond here making the transition not as easy. Those that go and come back seem to always be just fine. Just my observations.

Keika's not going to be black either though not as dramatic in colour change as Tosca, she will change. It will be fun to visit their colour at 6 months and 1 year.

Tomorrow she departs and then I wash the 2 that remain here as they are off to the vet on Wednesday.

Now she is playing her heart out.

that first pic is adorable. Yes, what to watch how their colouring matures ... so much fun. Already miss these fluff balls. Glad we will be able to watch River and Stone.

Oh Keika, you are so beautiful. Liz was here to meet Radar this afternoon and she thought Keika had some white, she was right. Keika surely is a darling. Wednesday is ok for second shots Darlah, even for Stone? I will never get this straight.

Yes both sets of pups had shots the same day so it is 3 to 4 weeks after the shots. First date is the 21st to the 28th. We are doing ours the 23rd as its iffy getting appts just after xmas. Both River and Stone will have their shots Wednesday. Charlie is meeting us there and someone else mentioned trying to get an appt the same day so we may have a 4 puppy appt.

Oliver goes on Tuesday (22nd) for his shots. We wanted to have a 48 hours buffer before Christmas eve to be extra cautious (we've read that it's good to wait 48 hrs for shots to fully take effect). We go to our mom's for Christmas eve and she has a Cavalier King Charles, so we wanted Oliver to be fully protected for that day (even though Simon is fully vaccinated).

It's not about vaccinated. It's about being a carrier for parvo. Dogs that attend heavily dog gathering areas are a concern. We had a puppy that went home and the owner took it to the parks etc (she was another breeder so knew better) before he had his 2nd shots. He caught parvo and died. His name was Tux. Seeing he was at her house a month before getting sick, he should have had his shots already. So we are careful. I am sure the 48 hour window is fine. Stressed, old etc lowers immunities and are more likely to catch anything.

Thanks so much Darlah, I have booked Radar for his second shots on Wednesday too. I hope then he will be able to play on our deck with Patches.

Very cute - but I recognize a spark of defiance in those eyes (much like Levon) - she may be a bit of a pistol! lol

She is a pistol - an agile one.
