Vet Visit

Charlie met us at the vets and had his check up too. Everyone had a great visit - no issues except River and Stone are fatties. Charlie is NORMAL. You don't want to hear how much my duo weighs.

They came home and they literally have not stopped playing till just now. Stone remains awake and Charlie and River are fast asleep. Many times throughout the day they got to say hello to humans as we had dogs coming, going etc. They loved greeting all.

Notice how River watches as the boys go silly fun crazy.

Here's a few videos.

Julia: He's doing really well though he thinks he forgot how to do the stairs so we are working on it. If he gets too excited he forgets and goes down them. hehehe Adele is over the moon happy to see him.

Yes, I noticed that he seemed quite nervous around stairs at my house, which is why I was shocked when he jumped off my sofa! Anyhow, I will continue to work on building his confidence around stairs when I get back, and I'll have to get an extra set of steps exclusively for the sofa so I'm not shlepping the bed stairs back and forth all the time.

Julia:

You may want to wait before you get all the stairs. Patches jumped up and down from my living room chairs and sofa at 4 months. She now only uses assistance for my bed since it is so much higher.

Angela,

Apparently it's not very good for their joints. My sofa is also much lower than my bed, but I have no carpeting, so when he jumps, he lands on hardwood. It might not be a problem once or twice, but over time, I'm afraid it might start hurting his joints.

Julia,

Oh, thank you, maybe Patches shouldn't be doing it either. Darlah???? But I do have carpeting with an underpad in my living/dining rooms. Patches is quite the jumper and I am not at all sure she would use the stairs. One of the issues with Patches and stairs is that her body is long but her legs are short and she kind of topples over if the stairs aren't very deep when she goes down. In fact, in the bedroom, I have an ottoman beside my bed, not stairs - she wouldn't use the stairs there either. ;-)

Angela: When they are fully formed, it is natural for them to jump up and down. Impact on puppies early on can hurt their patellas so we give them stairs. They of course will jump small amounts and that's okay. That is why in agility class they will only allow the younger set to use very low to the ground equipment.

PS: She does the stairs here but everyone does so no choice. Ottoman at her age is fine.

Julia: He was going up and down here before he left. By the time you get back he will be doing it again. No worries. I am not concerned. At this age its normal.
