Adele and the Day 2 Puppies

We got test results on Adele. Adele is doing well. She has her port out now and is happy about that.

Will it happen again? Everyone doubts it.

Adele was tested for so many things from Addisons to parasites extensively to liver function and on and on even though she had a full workup before pregnancy. I am a tad scared of this bill. :-) But good news she is great and now appears to have a decent supply of milk. She is also waggy tail happy.

Here is a gallery.

She is so well that she went into Jeannie's xpen, sniffed her pups and ate all her food. I allowed it after I saw it and just gave Jeannie new food. Funny Adele didn't want HER food. Gad they are like kids.

We had weight gains of 2/8 to 3/8 of an ounce since last night. This is good. I won't weigh them again till tonight but I can squeeze and I see milk and her milk slots are getting full.

Throughout this the pups remained very active and slept quietly between. They had enough till fill the belly but not gain significantly.

They are now a full 2 days old. There are only 3 days apart in the litters - yoo hoo! That means they will be able to play together easily!

Wonderful news !!! (except for the bill !) So glad she is going to be OK although it is too bad they don't know what is was. You would probably feel more confident if you knew.

Great news!

As we tested for everything and I mean everything from parasites to diseases, I am pretty confident that she ate something that started this cycle couple that with almost being ready to deliver and being pregnant, it was a bad recipe. Am I hunting my house for what treats etc ? No. No one else got sick. When pregnant you react differently.

Loose stools is actually quite common unfortunately and the vets never figure it out. It's called a dietary indiscretion. Those that run to the vets at the 1st sign of loose stools will tell you that the usual treatment is hydration, vet food and send them home with a big bill. Do you run to the dr at the first sign of loose stools? No, you treat it but you can't use too many things when pregnant.

And my vet thinks the worst case scenario so she brings me on a ride. Her husband does not. We usually see her husband. I was on a huge ride and a big bill is in store. It happens cause you LOVE your dogs.

Glad that Adele is getting better, you must be feeling relieved that she is getting better.
Vet bills are scary.

I am so glad that Adele is fine and the puppies are beautiful and beautiful colouring. They are so excited when they eat.

I know about vet bills. Rusty was dehydrated and not eating so we took him to the vet and $$$ later he was fine. Now I call Drs. Talemaker first before we go.

yeah its a typical thing for them to do even if they do not need fluids. In this case she really needed them as her gums were tacky and she was pregnant. City vets are more expensive but I expect this to be a few thousand. I would love to be pleasantly surprised. Better to have dogs than cash I say.

Keep saving up for a fridge that is going and well it goes somewhere else. <heh>

The important thing is that Adele and the pups are doing fine. They are such beauties and Adele is looking so happy and content. All is well that ends well.

Such wonderful news about Adele. She sure looks happy and her pups are eating away. All is good. What good is money If you don't spend it. That's my story anyway!

Very happy to hear that Adele is well. She looks happy and proud. I'm sure you're incredibly relieved. My boss (a pathologist) says it's almost always something you ate and the gut reacted to it ..
With pregnancy and tacky gums, you don't want to take the chance that it could be something else and reacted too late to do anything.
You said it ... we love our dogs more than the money! 😊

I hear you Darlah... we've all been on those 'rides' but if the outcome is positive it's worth every cent. Thank goodness that Adele and those little ones are healthy and happy.
