5 Weeks 2 Days Old
You will be seeing this crew a little bit earlier than the usual 6 weeks. Then we will be having a 9 week visit vs. a 8 week visit due to the holidays. We have a very busy house during the holidays and a number of you have said the 31st doesn't work due to it being New Year's eve. The timing is lousy, I know.
We also had to wait till the 4th of January for the first vet visit. Our vets will not be back till then. They too will be off. They have associate vets filling in but I prefer to wait for our vet. I know him and I know he is thorough. Second set of shots before classes can be done between January 25 to February 1st. You have to have your 2nd shots before classes. Everyone should join a class. It is great conditioning, it helps you to bond and starts the process of getting them to be all they can be.
As Adele and River is moving near us in June (Adele may come back for 1 more breeding - maybe not), we will be keeping a girl from Adele - most likely the one in Nathan's arms. This replaces our River who will be a therapy dog for our grand daughter Sarah. Adele will be a therapy dog for our grand daughter Danielle. This is so 'very' difficult for me as Adele and I are very close. River was extra close to Nathan. I love our daughter and grand daughters immensely. I am hoping they come back for day visits while everyone is at school and work. They will live close. We shall see. But I want to carry on this line. We have a lot of work to do before we get to this point as the boyfriend has a german shepherd and their first meeting wasn't great. So, they will be taking classes and hoping they bond. If they do not, we will have 2 heartbroken grand daughters. They can't go if it doesn't work. But we have to plan and proceed as if it will thus the retention of a girl from Adele.
This girl is the largest so she may end up too big but I doubt it. No one from this line has been oversized. I like her structure but its rather early to assess. So, we shall see.
The largest changes are between 7 and 9 weeks. It's why you wait till 8 weeks to figure it all out.

That is so much news. I admire both you and Nathan and as parents and grandparents you are the best!!! I am glad they are living close and will be seeing you hopefully regularly. I love the little girl in Nathan's arms. Really I have never seen a Talemaker pup that hasn't been beautiful in looks and character. Lots of changes.
I assumed that Adele and River would be moving with Tracy and the kids. Your granddaughters are lucky to have them. I'm sure they will adapt to the other dog once they start bonding. At least, River and Adele will be together in the same house. Lots of changes though.
I hope they adapt. In this case it is really up to the german shepherd. I am hopeful the classes will work. We have 6 months.
I sure hope that classes will permit the German Shepherd to adjust to two loving, lovely Havanese.
Many Shepherds tend to bond with a single family member. They are very loyal and protective dogs.
We used to have german shepherds. Know the breed well.
Thanks for the tips on getting snowballs painlessly out of Rusty's hair. Darlah would you still consider breeding River? She is beautiful.
She is such a little sweetie ! I didn't realize Adele and River were leaving. Lucky grand daughters !
