Three Days Old

The Saffron pups are 3 days old. They fuss, Saffron nuzzles them, flips them over to see if they have any issues and then flops down for them to feed from her. She seems to be in no pain today. She still also wants everyone else's pups and she can't stand if they are fussing. She wants to take care of them.

Here is the gallery.

Saffron has this big huge bald spit on her back. Luckily they lefy enough hair that I can flip it over the spot to make it less noticeable.

Be sure to check out the videos.

Glad Saffie is feeling better.
Why would they have shaved a spot on her back?

They are so very tiny. How totally sweet.

I wonder if the patch was for sedatives given into the lumbar muscle?
Sometimes they use this method for castrations in cats as they are under for a shorter time.

Ps, glad Saffron is feeling better
What fabulous little puppies all the moms haves.

It seems they cauterized her so the patch was for grounding. I knew she had a burnt smell to her. Just didn't realize from what. At least that is going away. I never heard of a c-section done this way. But she is not bleeding which is norm for 3 weeks or so. The incision is very clean. She can now jump in and out of the xpen. She's making herself a pest wanting all the other pups like Ella. They seems to now be growing on the timeline of the Ella pups. Cinnamon's are growing like Stormy.

Glad to see she is feeling so much better ! Most vets would have given you a full explanation of what was done and why !!!

they have a go between so you never talk to the surgeon. it's a disconnect all the way around. Not used to that.

I don’t think that keeping you in the dark about treatment is good practice.
Can your vet get anything out of them for continuity sake.

Our vet used to do emergency calls anytime day or night but they have recently changed and have identified an emergency vet we should use when the practice is closed. They are way more expensive and a lot farther away than I would like.
Hope we never have to use the emergency vet.

I don't either but I did ask them to send all records to our vet but so far they have not received it. I am exploring other emergency services. I have Whitby but if it is time sensitive, I need something closer and one that is forthcoming. A c-section rarely happens but when it does - it does. I want someone to care when you are worried.

Exactly right, time is the important and good roads.
Keep pestering them to send the records, they will get fed up first I’m sure.

If you had the time it would be good to visit each surgery and take notes so you can compare. Is there anything official giving patient reviews?
Oh to be able to inspect and report on them.
