Nine Days Old
She will be the oldest in the crew. I feel bad for Spirit that she gained an extra only to have it depart. my mistake in being over tired and not thinking it through. But her gal who has size and age on her side kept laying on top of him. Not intentionally but I suppose she thought it was a nice pillow. It was not meant to be. It made sense to move him over to Sage who has pups just a day older. He will thrive with pups of the same size and Sage has a ton of milk.
Come when they get to 4 weeks all the pups will be together.
Spirit is a doting mom. It is so wonderful to watch.
I am uploading videos as I blog.

Poor Spirit :( but her girl is absolutely gorgeous!
Proud momma Spirit ... your sweet girl is a beauty :-)
So impressed with the fine management you and Nathan did with Cinnamon’s little guy! It was amazing to see the photos and videos. Your collective experience saved him. Hope all the pups continue to gain. Can’t wait to see their personalities develop!
Nathan is the whelping king. I take the photos and videos and do the blogging. If a pup needs extra care, I am the one that handles it and stays up with it. They think I am the level headed one that knows what to do. I do but it weighs on me too. I am the one to bring it around. If I can't (BEEN EONS SINCE THAT HAS HAPPENED) it weighs on me and I cry myself to sleep for days. So, it does weigh on me. We are a team. My motto is you can always fall apart later but not when you need to make critical decisions. That doesn't mean I am not stressed but I get beyond it to do.
By the way, the best incubator for a puppy that needs help is your chest. under your shirt.
All the pups are doing really well. They are gaining and lively. No one had any losses which is normal the 1st 24 hours. They really are a fine bunch.
One year we were on our way to the vet with Treasure as she had a pup coming sideways and she was screaming. Nathan was frazzled and driving. I thought to myself, what can I do to help her. I put gloves on, I vaselined my glove and tried to take my fingers to turn the pup not knowing which way. I couldn't get a turn so my hand went further up, I pushed and the pup went sliding out as if it was going down a waterslide. We turned around and went home.
Breeding is not for the faint of heart but you must learn that some puppies are simply not compatible with life. Still, you question - can I really do this again but then you concentrate on the living and figure out why you do it. They give you so much joy and each teaches you something if you allow and then they go on a journey and make other people happy. You are sad at the departure. You miss them but then you see them again and see how happy they are and smile. This is why you do it.
