Happy Parenting

I have dogs to groom and wash before departure today. So, blogs will be later. But I will let you know in a bit why the moving of 2 pups worked for everyone.

As you can see, Raven is a happy girl.

Here is the gallery.

I take weights each morning and each night till about 2 weeks old and then I go down to once a day. Cinnamon's pups have been gaining like crazy despite 7 but she eats really, really well. Leti is a smaller gal and is actually smaller than Raven. Her pups were continually gaining but about 4/8oz daily. Nothing wrong with that but Leti is producing less milk. She has to be hand fed to eat well. As she goes and the pups eat more, she will produce more milk and eat better. I know this as this is what she did last time.

They all get to where they are meant to be eventually in weight and size.

With Raven she had so much milk from the get go. Raven ate like Cinnamon right out of the gate.

I took weights this morning. The 2 Raven pups from Leti that are now with Raven gained 1-4/8 oz and 1 oz in 24 hours. This is up from 4/8oz. Raven's boy gained 1 oz in less than 24 hours. The Leti pups that are with Leti gained from 7/8 to 1-5/8oz in 24 hours. This tells me, at this point in time, Leti has enough milk for 4 or there are some I want it all pups that were taking from the others. It is most likely the latter. LOL. Raven has enough for more than she has.

So, this all works. Interesting enough the 2 Leti pups are a similar size to Raven's lone boy. If you watch the videos, he crawls just like the older Leti pups. He is a strong one. He is also quite pretty.

Videos can be found here. I update as I have time.

It sounds like things are so much better for everyone now that the two babies from Leti are now with Raven. That's wonderful.

Raven's little guy is a special one. <3

Thank you so much for your wonderful updates. It makes us feel as though we are part of it all too, and that is such a good feeling. It's amazing to watch the Talemaker family grow. :)

Raven is beaming

Raven is beaming and it makes perfect sense moving Leti's pups. And I have come to see why it is so good to have multiple litters at one time.

Love this pic of Raven. She looks so happy, it’s like she’s laughing.

If one mom doesn't have enough milk, there is another mother. As they get older they have multiple moms and their own styles to learn from. We have had a single litter that I had to supplement every 2 hours around the clock. Mother's milk is the best. They get tummy aches from formula and their system has to adjust. I could go on and on but even the moms enjoy sharing the experience. It's a lot of work but the postives outweigh the negatives by far. I imagine if you had more than one litter and the moms were protective, that would be an issue. I find my dogs truly trust each other. I would not breed a dog that had trust issues. There is too much that gets passed on from exposure and they are like sponges. Can you imagine a mom that had trust issues? What does that pup learn?

Raven is downright delighted! Leti just ate her own meal today without hand feeding. Hooray!

How amazing that all the moms get along so well. Raven seems to love having her picture taken! She is just beaming.
